  1. I count only one, Kinnear. He was injured for the bulk of Shearer's time No he wasn't he was fit and lumbering about in the reserves, even scored a few goals when Shearer was manager. Hughton had plenty games when he could have picked him as well. Hughton picked him to play 4 times didn't he? When did he score goals with Shearer boss? He was injured for the duration of April and some of May, making selection for Shearer pretty unlikely He scored a few for the reserves near the end of the season, couple of pens and a few tap ins, might have finished with about 5 goals in the end. Whilst Shearer was boss, he scored 2 against Ashington in mid-may after returning from an injury which kept him out for 6 weeks. Nobody is desputing that Kinnear ignored him, but it's unfair to say that the other managers followed suit

  3. We've done what we have under MON despite his transfer policy, rather than because of it. Moyes, for example, is far more adept in the transfer market than O'Neill is. However, having said that, life with him and Lerner hasn't been boring for a second (unlike the unremitting torpor of the last years of Ellis) Cuellar I think will come good this season, though, and possibly Davies too (who, lest we forget, was on the fringes of the England squad earlier this season). Luke Young, Ashley Young and Carew have all been good signings. As has Petrov (well, one excellent season, two gash ones). He gets it wrong far too often for my liking, though. Still, f*** it, he's got us back to 6th, which I believe is about our average position since the inception of the premiership. What he needs to do now is show his mettle and move us on. That'll be the challenge. it cant be surely

    RIP sale thread.

I wonder if there's a contingency plan in place should the club not be sold before a specified deadline
  6. Well, he did it against Leeds to an extent imo. He's our only player i'd trust to carry the ball with the exception of Barton
  7. i know he's managed to get progressively worse and less interested in every game he's played! Started like you'd expect an Argentinian international to perform when he looked quality against Darlo but has been a disgrace in the last 2 games. not against Leeds he wasn't. He never stopped running in the first half, looked by far our biggest threat biggest threat?? how many shots? how many crosses did he put over? how many through balls did he play? i would run all day if i was playing for NUFC, i wouldn't be any good to the team though. It would however mean you're interested, and you just accused him of not being
  8. Had we been able to keep him fit, we of course would have

  10. exactly, we should all surely be aware of this by now
  11. Come on mate, we all know that Shola will be s**** because he's spent 9 years reminding us of it every other week. For Carroll the signs aren't great because he doesn't read the game well and has the touch of your local crimewatch featured rapist. Xisco to be fair is an unknown quantity. And can you honestly see us making an intelligent attacking signing between now and september?
  12. Reports from who? He certainly looked like he gave a toss against Leeds, they just doubled up on him and nulified the threat. That tends to work when we have no attacking threat in the team
  13. And Jonas does?!? moreso than Kazenga Lua Lua. Jonas is a useful player to have in the team for his defensive attributes, not that he'll shine Kazenga wants to play for us and is hungry Jonas doesn't and isn't. based on what?
  14. to finish mid-table in that league, we'll have to score at least 60 goals. Where the hell are they going to come from?

  16. We battered them with a confident team under a confident manager yes, but we still took until extra time to beat them in a nothing competition. Oh, and none of the three scorers are here any more. beat me to it. If that's what it takes to defeat a lower end championship team, we sure as hell wont do it on a regular basis this season
  17. why not? Who would stop Barcelona
  18. what nonsense. Did any of our wins come with him in the team btw? EDIT: Did they f***, useless c*** that he is
  19. How is Lua Lua instead of Jonas a problem? Kazenga has looked interested so far this season whereas Jonas clearly hasn't. Krul in goal wouldn't really be a problem either, Harper is hardly as good as he used to be (or at least not in top form). Krul looks edgy to me, Harper on the other hand looks fine and certainly imrpoved as time went on last season. Kazenga twice tried to beat men with tricks in the vacinity of his own 18 yard box against Leeds, I don't think he has the intelligence to be relied on at this moment in time.
  20. Krul in goal is asking for trouble, as is Kadar in defence, and Lua Lua instead of Jonas. That team will get agressively and repeatadly raped
  21. There'd be hell on if we bought jokers like Heskey, knight, Harewood and paid 12m for Milner. Heskey's a good player man
  22. We all know what we'll get from shola, a load of bollocks. Xisco at least makes runs and gives the attack a hint of mobility. Shola's record in the champonshp doesn't make for positive reading. He'll be even worse in the fizzy pop league.
  23. Harper R Taylor S Taylor Coloccini Enrique Jonas Guthrie Barton Duff Xisco Carroll
