He was completely mute when Enrique recieved his typical 'unsuited spaniard' criticism. Nowt to do with reading his mind
-
If he's nothing more than a pundit then why are we discussing him as a potential manager? I meant right now, I wasn't discussing his abilities. He's got absolutely no connection to the club and certainly won't have until Ashley f***s off, which is looking increasingly unlikely. Therefore he might as well speak his mind - that's what he's being paid for. he didn't speak his mind though. He just sat there and let a lazy pundit make ignorant observations.

Lee Dixon and Lawrenson laid into Coloccini. He's an easy target and they are a couple of pathetic, spineless cunts. What pissed me off is that Shearer didn't even bother to defend Enrique (or Colo) when they were both unfairly criticised in the studio.
-
Wasn't it Shola who lost his man, not Harper or Coloccini's fault really
-
Not much I know, but there was an occassion around the 65 minute mark on Saturday where Coloccini dealt with a dangerous looking ball by controlling it somewhat and just hoofing it up field. In the first half there was a few occassions where players outpaced him and he used his outstreched leg or elbow to hack them down. If he is to do a good job in the Championship (and he can) then we need to see that cynical side of him more consistently. Like it or not he's one of our two best central defenders by a country mile. Like Barton, he needs support and he'll eventually come good.
-
it's a fair call, but it generally assumes that any footballer with a bit of presence can play in defence. Defending is an art in itself, you need to be the most intelligent player on the park to play centre-half (effectively), which is one of the reasons so many of them end up captaining. Pace is also becoming an absolute must for central defenders in the modern game, Carroll has none.

A football manager HAS to be arrogant. Even Bobby had a healthy amount of it, his book is so self-appreciatvie it almost reads like it was written by a 3rd party at times. If a manager isn't 100% covinced that he's the best man for the job, how can he expect the players to be. Dealing with such massive, massive egos requires arrogance. Roeder isn't a naturally arrogant bloke but at times purposely appeared to be so and always just ended up looking daft.
-
If Roder was good looking and suave he'd come accross as the most arrogant man on the planet, but his somewhat humble apperance cancelled out his pompous attitude. All by and large not a bad bloke, certainly not an muscle-flexing arsehole like Souness

Kinnear targeted both Bird and Hickman in that press conference
-
he missed half if not more of 07-08 and still managed to get 16 goals from open play. Last season was a bad one for him in the league but he misssed the first 3 months of the campaign and after that was recovering from a string of injuries. Still managed another 16 goals though
-
None, he's only managed Aston Villa and Leeds. Got pedalled at Leeds before they got relegated. Although he'd be a slight upgrade on what we already have, I think it's a none starter. IF Ashley stays he has to make a decent fist of trying to get us promoted this season, otherwise the so-called derisory bids he's had for the club would look appealing. Problem is, he's burnt his bridges completely with the fans, and anything less than getting on bended knee to beg Shearer to come in would not curry him any favour at all. that's slightly misleading, Leeds got relegated at least 18 months after O'Leary f***ed off iirc EDIT: 2 years

awesome footballer. a right f***ing powerhouse. Who looks absolutely useless against good defenders. Only scored in 1 game out of 7 in the world cup, 0 out of 4 in the euros and lets not mention his 0 in 3 'performances' in the Confed cup. Does well in the Bundesliga, which means very little basically

Bramble is quite good at kicking a football, too. how is that relevant?
-
fair enough, would have said that at 5:30 yesterday?
-
What? Guthrie was one of the best midfielders we had last year and has bags of potential! Only 22 years old. He is one of few positive things about the club at the moment. no chance. last season i'd have been happy to have him as a squad player, but first team? no. he's s***. who do we have that's better? Just Barton tbh Doesn't make Guthrie a good player you said you didn't want him in the first team though. Who is better?
-
dropped yesterday, argued with manager and assistant last season, suspended by us last season, kung fu kicked a sunderland player, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/7122616.stm , investigated by the FA for racial abuse etc. i'll edit this in a week or 2 the part in bold is all one incident, the rest is speculation. As for the kung fu kick, are you honestly going to tell me you've never kicked someone in red and white?

I'd love for Jonas to become a good crosser, but despite approaching his peak as a winger, he strikes the ball as weakly as anyone i've seen at nufc, and the accuracy is just woeful man.
-
Smith does well in the holding role so we stick him up front for the next game, despite not scoring in about 70 league games. Keep it coming matey
-
yep, just about the nonsense i'd expect
-
With the massive exception of that brawl in late 2007, Barton has been pretty well-behaved for us
-
You never stop learning though. Shearer was older when he wasn't scoring goals and needed to be coached by Robson, and obviously he's more of a player than Jonas is. Based on that, and a whole host of other players who have been rejuvinated while in the twilight of their career, I dont think its optimistic at all. He delivers (no pun intended) when he's playing for Argentina because he plays in a different way. Shearer just needed the team to play to his strengths, and abandon the target man role somewhat. Jonas actually needs to learn how to kick a football at 26.
-
I honestly can't believe that so much was made of that tackle at Liverpool. Far, far worse tackles have been punished with yellow cards
-
He's a 26 year old winger who can't cross, to say good management will correct this problem is being a tad optermistic
-
he's an inch bigger than Harper if that, and crossed clearly were a problem I cant believe the nonsense i've read on this board in the last day. I swear people just make stupid stuff up for the sake of increasing their post count
