Shearer was as good if not better than Batitistuta for example, and most certainly Eric Cantona who was good but world-class? All about opinions I suppose though... If you're talking pure, out and out centre forwards then Shearer will take some beating, worldwide. You talk some good stuff Coach HTT, but I can't believe someone said that about Cantona. I despised him, but he was one of the best players I've ever seen. A one off. You're being very kind As did England, although against Argentina at France 98 he was immense, and played far better than Batistuta from what I remember. When England went down a man, he took up a role in midfield and become almost a defensive player, he was outstanding in that match I thought and showed his true footballing sense in that he adapted to a different role and I don't even think it was a Hoddle tactic, I think he just took it upon himself using his savvy. Anyway he showed his class at Euro 96 and against a whole multitude of different defenders, some of the best the game had to offer.
