  1. we shouldn't be looking at any players under contract at premiership clubs there are defenders in Italy twice as good as Yobo and Lescott that we could get for £6m
  2. i'm 20 and have seen all mentioned Sorin isn't as good defensively Lahm (see above) Zambrotta - prefer him aat RB, lacks aggression at times Henize, Evra - don't make me fucking laugh
  3. The best centre-back in the world in my opinion. yep, easily for me
  4. I'd love a dominating world class CB who could organize the defence, be our lynchpin with class and tenacity what I wouldn't give for a cheeky £10m bid for Alessandro Nesta
  5. I think Bridge is the best left-back in the world. He would be the signing of the summer imo. Much, much better than Baines. All Baines has over Bridge is youth. imo he's defnitely one of the top 3 LB's I've ever watched, easily world class I'll assume that's sarcasm. Hope so anyway. you really are a pathetic individual

  7. Given Solano Taylor Rozenhal Geremi Milner Barton Emre Duff (Dyer when not fit) Owen Viduka
  8. all this board needed was another bitter rival fan to add to the collection "well our accumulated points tally is 5th best" "how well have you done playing 4-4-2" "planet newcastle...." ffs nobody gives a shit
  9. Because it's generally accepted that the position a team finishes is an indication of how good they are. Except of course on 'Planet Newcastle' where much better players produce season after season of failure! during those years you never had; a) an out and out goalscorer, guarenteed to get a goal every two games b) two penetrative wingers who could cross we do, that's what I meant, we have the players to play 4-4-2
  10. I suspect that the facts are 'irrelevant' because they don't support your argument that you have better players. You really don't know much about Big Sam do you? Name one club where he has played 4-4-2? We also have three strikers. Davies, Diouff and Anelka but we played 4-5-1. Big Sam has achieved all his success with this formation so why would he switch to a formation he isn't familiar with? Is it effective? Yes. Is it pretty to watch? No. they are irrelevant because they don't support or contradict anything i said you didn't have the players that we have. Then you start going on about points accumulated??? why?
  11. Again the facts don't support your opinion. We have finished in the top eight for each of the last four seasons and qualified for the UEFA Cup in two of the last three seasons. During that time the only teams who have accumulated more points than us are, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. So statistically, over the last four seasons, we are the fifth best team in the Premier League. completely irrelevant the players make the formation, not the other way around we have the players to play 4-4-2 or 4-3-3, so you cannot project any 'facts' of your team onto ours
  12. Our personel changed massively over the last eight seasons, our formation didn't. My opinion is based on fact, yours appears to be based on fantasy. well your 'personel' could never touch ours so don't make silly assumptions welcome to the board though

I don't think Nobby's going to be anywhere near the starting 11 next season. If he was he'd be my first choice
  14. Sol Campbell has mentioned Shola being a handfull on more than one occasion tbh. I can imagine him being widely considered a difficult opponent because of his unpredictability. he's going to be a hell of a lot stronger this season as well, not that i'm a big fan
  15. Given Geremi Taylor Rozenhal New LB Milner Barton Emre Dyer Owen Martins is probably how we'll line up come August
  16. Luque's goal against Sunderland was hilarious, both CB's including Caldwell missing simple headers
  17. madness McCarthy and Ritgers at Blackburn, the biggest shithole excuse for a town in the UK

Yes... He's too good to leave out. Duff's out for 5 months, Zoggy's pants at the moment and don't get me started on Luque. Honestly think Martins would be good there! Perhaps more of a 433 formation, can't make my mind up 100% at the moment, as still not 100% sure who's staying and who's going. Given Geremi Taylor Campbell Bridge Barton Butt Emre Milner Owen Martins Better?? the amount of people who consider Given the best in the premiership is frightening you're all insane What makes you say that? Because he has put him in our team? well no, because he called him 'the best in the premiership'
  19. bullshit if ever i've read it Bridge is fantastic defensively and very, very competent going forward

  21. Rather we tried to sort Zog out than Duff. rather we tried to sort both out. Who's the alternative, Luque?

goes for every other candidate with the exception of Given Which has sort of been my point from the first reply in this thread, funnily enough! I know what you mean but Given just cannot be captain, he cannot
  23. He can neither beat his man nor cross a ball. 'Past it' doesn't even begin to describe. one poor season, Shearer had 1 under Gullit but seemed to come back alright Not bothered! If we can get a fee anywhere around £5m i'd take it. I was all for him being given time and not flogged instantly, but he's a crock who's legs were already going, and won't be much better now after ANOTHER major injury. And considering he's a player we never needed in the first place, and we've got potentially three other players in the squad who'd fill his role in a 4-3-3, i say just get rid of him, rather than huff and puff trying to make him work. Huff and puff trying to sort N'Zogbia out, regardless of attitude problems. Zoggy's paddies will be a doddle for Sam. BTW - in that poor season under Gullit, Shearer scored 21 goals. take away penalties and Shearer had an average of a goal every 4 games in the league N'zogbia might just be a lost cause, I hope not but.....
