That's the thing, though. Players like Cabaye can't express themselves thoroughly because of him. Cabaye has to drop deep to be to man to collect the ball from the defence/keeeper because Tiote simply cannot be trusted to.

He was very good, or at least appeared to be. Unfortunately his attacking weaknesses were totally exposed in games we were expected to win and his defensive liabilities became common knowledge to opposing managers.

After Nicky Butt and Alan Smith I think anything with a pulse would've looked impressive to us, tbh.

I don't think it means a thing, really. If they were after players they'd hardly go running to the media with it. That said, I don't expect much more than 2 decent-good players arriving for low prices.

You don't think he's got PL potential? Well, Jonas Gutierrez has been starting PL games for the best part of 5 years, so owt's possible. Don't see anything remotely exciting or impressive about him, though, other than looking somewhat like a Nigerian Peter Crouch.

Sammy's only here because of his useless brother, let's not pretend it's any different.
