  1. I never take a brolly because I'm not a ponce. I've got faith in Keegan's investment nouse, and cut-throat approach to his players (see Andy Cole). Have you told him you don't want him spending much yet? [ahaahahaaha/] Judging by the transfer window, he's already on my wavelength. Have you told him he has to spend £100M in the next window irrespective of the quality of player he can sell the club to?

  3. Can I retract the hair analogy, despite it's relevence I'm losing the will to live here.
  4. That's what I was saying earlier. Any quality signing is dragged into the torpor rather than pulling the squad out of it. Instill a bit of belief, then make expensive additions to a club on the up. It's like they say about getting your hair cut, you should always go when it looks it's best. Eh? If you go for a haircut when it looks s***, your barber thinks you like your hair to look s***, and gives you a s*** haircut. Surely you go to the barbers to get your hair to stop looking s***? Nope. You need to be more pro-active than that. Well what if you go to your barbers while its looking good to have it cut, and the barber does a shit job and the end result is that it now looks shit, despite not being shit before you had it cut? There's always that danger. At least you reduce it if you turn up with your hair looking like you want it too. Next week: Belt and shoes, why they should never clash.

Is it just about instilling belief? I can't imagine Keegan has been doing anything other than trying frantically to instil belief. What you have to ask yourself is why he's making absolutely no difference to the standard of play now. "There's something rotten in the state of Denmark..." I reckon he is making a difference. We'd have invited Man U onto us from the first minute if Allardyce was still around, the fact that we've looked like we're even in the game against both Arsenal and Man U (at least for the first half) is a positive sign.

  9. But doesn't extend as far as a club hovering above relegation spending £150M?
  10. The last 5 years running we've made trophy signings. Woodgate, Kluivert (wages rather than fee), Boumsong, Luque & Owen, Martins.... Keegan only signed 3 players over £5M when he was last here and put us where we are. Obviously fees go up, but in 93/94 while the transfer record was £5.5M+, Keegan was only spending £2M or £3M tops. Ferdinand wasn't exactly a trophy signing either, Collymore went for £2M more at a time when we were title contenders. Breaking the bank was always the exception rather than the rule.....until bad managers were given the job.
  11. I asked you a question, answer it or hide, guess you are doing the latter. No amount of edits are going to make you right on this one. We need to spend money, if we don't were fuked...if you agree with that then your comments: "Exactly. Doesn't stop people thinking it's the be all and end all though." Are totally fuking worthless mate. Please point out where I said that we should spend nothing. I'll be excited to see the link, because I can't for the life of me remember where I said that. Whats: Exactly. Doesn't stop people thinking it's the be all and end all though. Suppose to mean then? Just a passive pointless comment NOT to be picked up upon? If your comments are THAT throwaway then why bother? My comment was a dig at the people who seem to think that as long as we spend a load of money, things will take care of themselves. We've been spending loads of money for years under the previous board, as NE5 and others love to keep telling everyone. Remind me how well it worked. Still waiting for the link where I said we should spend nothing btw. europe and the Champions League more than everybody but 4 teams ? 2 FA Cup Finals ? A 52,000 stadium filled almost every game ? Haven't we spent more in the last 5 years (with no champions league or FA cup finals to show for it) than in the ten years before that.
  12. I find it odd he thinks you were underselling it at £100M in a year...and suggests it'll need to be £150M over 3 years. Is your abacus broke Rob?
  13. £25m could. But £50m might not. It depends how wisely that money is spent. Newcastle more than anyone should know that spending big doesn't necessarily mean you will improve. Exactly. Doesn't stop people thinking it's the be all and end all though. Lets spend nothing then, see how far that gets us. Yes, that's EXACTLY what I said. Straight out the 'NE5 book of straw-man building'. So what will turn this club around? Positive thinking? mackems.gif I reckon the players we have are worth at least 5 positions when properly managed and full of belief. I also reckon it's imperative to get that right before buying anyone. The first and each subsequent buy would be dragged into the torpor, rather than pulling an entire squad out of it. 5 positions don't win you fuking matches. Fuke me is everyone totally fuking thick around here? 5 players make a team? Shut the fuk up man. WE NEED TO BUY And thats the most important thing, 80% of our problems next summer. Fuk me.... Not sure if this is actual irony or broader comedy. League positions fuckwit. And 5 players in a team game which requires 11 is going to get you that you muppet? Am I on candid camera? We're 13th. I think we have a squad capable of finishing 8th. FIVE FUCKING LEAGUE POSITIONS HIGHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are the nurses not putting people to bed at your place yet?

  16. don't bother trying to go down the proven successful method then, buy average players instead and go down Can't wait until 6 years time and these 17 year old kids are all going to be the next Gazza, guaranteed £85M spent in 3 years = zero success As I've said, we need to spend well, not necessarily big.
  17. He'll get a hat-trick against the mackems.
  18. You reckon he can hit nine goals in eleven games? For us?
  19. the current champions, soon to be re-crowned, who slaughtered us on saturday, did so by virtue of the fact that their 5 forwards who played cost approx 70m between them to buy. Value now higher in the case of 4 of those players. Not an academy player in sight among them. Just goes to show eh ? What absolute crap is this "lets pour all our eggs into the youth policy" hoping to build successful sides on the cheap. Man Utd have a great youth academy. It's called Portugal. Man U can afford to buy the best thanks to ten years of success with the likes of Beckham, Scholes, Neville, Giggs, Butt, Brown etc thats right, they never bought anybody before that, and neither did Liverpool during their 20 years of dominance. That would suggest success is built around a combination of the two. Chelsea are the only currently succesful club without any cheaply sourced kids in the team. Apart from their captain. Well reminded. Further proof of the point then.
  20. Played his longest run of games for the club and scored 2 in the last 3 games. I reckon he can finish the season with 15 goals if he stays fit, which would be no mean feat considering injuries. At least, that should be his target. If he does, I'd renew.

  22. Based on our record of big money buys, I'm suprised anyone wants to persist with the approach. Don't expect different results if you continue to do the same thing!!
