  1. Yep, Sammy has always had a bit of potential about him IMO. Would have put my house on HBA scoring that chance at the end. He's played well otherwise. Also, why the fuck is Santon taking our set pieces, or even shooting, he can't shoot for shit and just kicks the ball into defenders.
  2. I too can confirm that based on a 5 minutes Youtube compilation he looks "fucking quality". Scored some ridiculous (Robert-esq) free kicks, and seems to like assisting Gomis
  3. Hatem: I could have one of those if I was playing!!
  4. I've never known a Sunderland fan round my way, until coincidence has it, one lives in the flat below me. He just went apeshit

    Loïc Remy

It was what I was getting at with my post as well.

Woah! Henry had far more to him. He could hold the ball up and link play fantastically well, in addition to drifting to the left. Remy isn't as strong at all. He's been disappointing in that lead role, for the most part. Aye, Remy is more often than not weak as a baby for his size.

Should have known that would get jumped on. I didn't expect him to be as good as Henry - I was just using Henry as an example as Remy seems in a similar mould of player. I guess what I was getting at was that he looks like a more technically gifted player, yet he appears to miss-control the ball fairly often or take a heavy touch, like a technically gifted player (such as Henry) would do when just back from injury.

    Loïc Remy

Care to explain why? Like I say, I don't really know why, he's scoring and doing his job but I'm just not as excited by him as I was by Cisse or Ba, despite him having the attributes to be better than both of them. I feel like he's holding back, like he's constantly not quite reaching top speed. Kind of like permanently watching a 60% fit Thierry Henry, the ability is there but the match sharpness isn't quite right. He looks like the sort that should be beating players with ease and running at them with accuracy, yet we're over halfway through the season and he still has a dodgy first touch for example. I dunno, maybe my expectations were too high, after all, he started very well both for QPR and us.

I don't know why, but if it wasn't for fear that we'd likely not get anyone else in, I wouldn't be that bothered if we didn't sign him. I mean, obviously I'd prefer we did sign him, but I'm fairly "meh" about him.

So, so frustrating that he's not playing. Will also be gutted if he leaves.

    Andy Carroll

To be fair, Carroll is still young enough to both come back and stay with us for a long time and also return to his form whilst he was with us, so you never know.
  12. I can't even bring myself to be pissed off with our lack of ambition these days. One of the things always made supporting Newcastle feel special to me was that throughout all of the struggles and balls up, there was always that potential to do something. There was always a sense of hope, but it's now gone. We aren't interested in winning any cups, or challenging for the league, so everything we do is targeted towards being in limbo... at best. As a fan, I've come to realise that it's that hope that drives my passion, and without it every goal, win, signing, or whatever just becomes less and less important to me. It's clear that under Ashley these goals/wins/signings will not contribute towards a progression to where we all want us to be, so it makes it difficult to be passionate about them.
  13. Completely got the ball, but you just can't go in like that.
  14. He hasn't been shite his whole time here, just the majority of it. IMO last season was the only season he's had for us where he's offered nothing to the team.
  15. Doesn't make sense to drop him based on one game in a different position to the one he's been excellent in for weeks either. He's been average at best. Can't pass, poor touch, poor crosser, hopeless going forward, no vision - he's supposed to be a winger? About all he seems to have going for him is that he's big, strong and athletic. What a load of old shite
  16. How can a poor 45 minutes in the past 10 or so games equate to it not making sense to play Sissoko? He's played a massive part in us being as high up the table as we are.
  17. Whilst his attacking contribution has always been shaky, Jonas was never an out and out defensive winger until Enrique left and Ryan Taylor was moved to left back. Had Jonas not offered that protection we'd have been mauled frequently as without it Raylor was fucking atrocious there. Unfortunately for Jonas it's seemed that since that time he's forgotten how to even take on a man and has declined. TBH I've said all of this before, but people keep insisting on beating the whole "he's been shite his whole time here" drum, so I feel the need to stick my oar in. Just because a player has eventually deteriorated, doesn't mean they have always been as bad as their current selves.
  18. Borini collapsed after going off.
