Technically limited? Go on then, tell me what you mean by that? Personally, for his role I think he's very a technical player. His first touch is often that of 2 touches for a lot of players in that he takes the ball under control and moves in to space with it in. He's also one of few players that can make space for himself without actually touching the ball and just changing his body position, which is a technique in itself. Also, for the most part his passing range is very short (but accurate), but whenever I've seen him try long passes I've seen more than enough to suggest he's got them in him. I think you could argue that he's clumsy in challenges and a bit rash, as well as not offering a lot going forward, but technically limited is one of the last things I would say about him.

Looks that way.

If Colo put away that chance against Spurs we'd be 2nd

Thank fuck for that. Missed the game as I was playing football but this was a massive game. The first time we've really had any overwhelming expectancy to win and we managed it. Sounds like it was frustrating as hell mind. Only slight gripe with Pardew is he seems reactive rather than proactive with his team selection. I would have thought he'd have made at least one change to the lineup today. To be fair I can understand the not broken don't fix it mentality as its working for us at the minute, but i would like to see Santon/Marv/Barfa gradually being embedded into the team... Before we lose.

Yeah, I thought the general consensus was that bar the odd class save he'd been shaky so far this season.
-
"And he has phenomenal hair. Simply phenomenal hair."
-
So no-one really cares about either of us
-
That's the way I see it to be honest. I think Santon and Ben Arfa are more likely to come in next game, and I think Pardew would be reluctant to make too many changes to a so far winning formula. I actually (surprisingly) have faith in how Pardew is approaching things and am pretty certain we'll eventually see our strongest line-up. He's showing good man management by keeping faith in those that are currently performing.

We could actually become quite a dynamic and fluid side with Marveaux and Jonas. I would certainly line up Jonas on the left and Marv on the right, but I would also encourage them to swap over throughout the game. It would make it a lot harder for the opposition to deal with us as our playing style would most likely change as soon as they swap sides.
-
And he was injured all of last season was he not? What's the point in rushing him in whilst the team is doing well?
-
Never bother with line-ups but fuck it, we should be going for the throat with this one. Ben Arfa is fit, now's as good as any time to bring him in. Risky making 3 changes, but I'd go with: Krul Santon, Saylor, Colo, Raylor Marveaux, Cabaye, Tiote, Jonas Ben Arfa Ba Maybe start Obertan instead of Marveaux so as not to disrupt the team too much...

Literally the post above you has stated why there has been a lack of first team football. He's getting up to speed and is banging on the door. Pretty certain we'll eventually see him as a regular in the team. Also encouraging that Carver has said he can play on either side, as I'd rather not touch Jonas given his form. Edit: And to be fair our subs made a pretty big impact against Spurs...

Shola has played like Eto'o today

Carroll as well. Outside of Viduka, all of them did actually play quite well for a portion of the season. Not well enough though When you consider the amount of deadwood we had back then it does honestly make you wonder what we would be like now if we never went down.

I understand your paranoia since after all we do support Newcastle, but the guy that wrote the article is a Newcastle fan asking a question. It's most certainly not knocking us, just highlighting that he's fucking immense and probably rightfully so should have big clubs looking at him.
-
I don't know, I think if we pay the wages Colo would stay. The article isn't really saying we would sell or that he would go, it's just posing the question, would we sell, which IMO is actually a valid question given our owners.
-
Quite a positive article to be fair. I guess it's just highlighting something a lot of us consider could come up.

Pretty sure contracts have clauses. I can't imagine they would be so black and white.

I know how you feel, the wait for the Spurs game felt like an eternity. Couldn't wait to watch it and despite us not winning I really enjoyed the game, it was so satisfying seeing us compete with and arguably outperform them. Reminded me why I love Newcastle United so much despite having zero affiliation to the place...
-
Surely it would be a conditional deal, i.e transfer is off if he kicks the bucket etc...
-
Doesn't usually mean people are joking/find something funny. It hardly seems like he's seriously slagging him off as opposed to having a laugh but hey ho, lost in translation and all that...
-
He is really tall and agile. Harper wouldn't have got that head back by Raylor (I think) after Defoe had his shot parried. It would have gone over him.
-
Weird, I thought he was immense yesterday, covered so much ground and was involved in everything. He even tried to drive us forward at times. When you show for the ball as much as he does and against a team like spurs you are bound to misplace a few, not that i can actually think of any off the top of my head. Him, Colo and Jonas were our best 3 players IMO.

Has anyone actually seriously said he should start the next game?
