As long as he can prove his fitness, definitely. Would be a far, far better option than Danny Simpson. I quite like simpson, seems to have gone backwards since his injury though, I don't think he's 100% fit and playing at centreback half the time aint gonna help when you have the physique or Rey Mysterio Jnr

Well we do have the best squad, we just dont have the best balance. We have plenty of slow, yet talented midfielders, no wingers a good defence with decent cover for all areas (by this I mean better than that of other teams). We probably have the best Strikerforce in the league it just isn't used properly and also the best pair of keepers.

"What became of Gaizka Mendieta?"
relámpago blanco replied to WarrenBartonCentrePartin's topic in Football
think thats slightly harsh, he was obviously only suited to the Spanish game. Many players are like that, if he'd stayed at Valencia all his career he'd have had a great career. -
Good stuff. This type of publicity needs to be followed up by an outpouring of anger versus Peterborough. Make enough noise and he'll have to listen. Maybe he has already. Hasn't been a mention of it from the club since the announcement. Silence is usually a sign he's still in full blown w***** mode. Well he's pretty much quiet most of the time. How many statements have we seen from him since he took over? 5?

as in a few games this season we haven't played much better than the opposition but had a shed load of chances. the last few games the chances have been drying up. it really wouldn't take much improvement, which i think is within the squad, to have this league won by easter. I think the reason the chances have dried up is due to defensive injuries and the midfield not wantting to commit and instead protecting the back 4.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Someone like Ranger? -
This is what concerns me, if we do go up and want to stay up we are going to have to go out and spend a load on the attack, we'll need a 15 goal a season striker and you're looking at 8-10M that ain't gonna happen. We'll also need an entire new midfield and a premiership standard one even just average will cost 10-20M if not more.

Realistic Transfer Targets January 2010

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2710833/Chris-in-for-the-Kil.html He's out of contract in the summer and isn't worth 4 Million even if he had 5 years remaining, we could offer him a pre-contract in January. It'd be April or so by the time we could offer a contract (3 months before contract end for domestic players). II take it its 6 for non-domestic players. -

This. Yep, only midfielder we have that stretches defences. He works very well defensively but he's easily the most frustrating Player I've ever seen and if he could put crosses in/ pass at even a sunday league winger level he'd be good, it's just a shame he can't.
-
Yep, why the bloody hell did he bring Harewood on and leave another 2 strikers on the pitch. Beyond belief, I'd also like to say I think he made the wrong choice on his strikeforce but we won. Still think Carrol and Ranger should have started. The only problem then is you have to play Nolan as a normal CM which he can't as his legs have gone and this would also mean we couldnt play one of Ryan Taylor or Jonas as a winger as the defence wouldn't have enough protection. I think width is important but I'm not sure whether its more important than a decent strikeforce. So all in all I can understand his team selection in a way but probably wouldn't have been what I'd have picked. (Still can't understand bringing Harewood on)

Tbh, it doesn't bother me if its renamed, it will always be St James' park whatever Jeff Stelling calls it, at least we aren't like the mackems nicking a name and then trying to make up bollocks excuses as to why they didnt steal it. My mate reckons Benficas stadium is Called Estadio De La Luz as La Luz is the area the stadium is in and thats why its called that and not because its the Stadium of Light, I then asked him what Luz translated into english as and he claimed you couldn't as despite it being the same word for the sun it was a place and therefore if sunderland had stolen it, then it would be The Stadium Of La Luz.

You should just pay the 15 quid and send mike ashley a cheque for a fiver.

Ashley to keep club, put £20m in and consider stadium naming rights
relámpago blanco replied to Ashley17's topic in Football
If the last year or so has shown anything it's shown that for the most part Newcastle supporters are either unwilling or too apathetic to do anything to effectively express their anger at how the club is being run. Sure, there'll be people who ring in irately to phone ins, write angry letters to papers, or stand outside the ground and complain to any TV cameras present, but that's as far as it goes. Very little has been done which would actually affect Ashley in a tangible way and make him think twice about what he does or how he runs the club (don't fool yourself that the limited Keegan protests made Ashley decide to sell the club, with hindsight it's obvious that there was plenty of truth in the numerous rumours that he'd been trying to flog it from the minute Keegan was appointed). The fact that Sports Direct shops are still healthily trading in the centre of a city where the majority of the population are supposed to be mad supporters of the club shows that saving a couple of quid on a pair of trackie bottoms is more important to most than making a stand against the destruction of the club. If anything the people or groups who have actually tried to do something or organise things to try and get Ashley to even acknowledge the supporter's views have come in for more criticism and even blame from a lot of people than the owner and his cronies themselves - don't rock the boat sailing into the iceberg, or it's your fault if it sinks. Welcome to <your name here>FC. s*** all over us and we'll keep on giving you our cash. Spot on. It makes my skin crawl when I see wankers in his shops in Newcastle. Exactly. Makes my skin crawl seeing the huge Sports Direct signs kicking about in town. Paint em white and spray pricks direct on them -
We'll probably get promoted and perform on a similar level to Villa before Lerner took over. The odd decent season but mainly in the bottom half.

I can't belive people still belive that bit in bold, mental. The amount of discussions we've had on here about it is insane. You can't just nick money out of a company of this type like that it's fookin illegal. Well maybe it's just me, a Malaysian who see this happen all the time with government doing this to us. (Out of topic but believe it or not, this kind of things happen everywhere, in any size of company). It may happen but its called embezzlement, murders happen but it doesn't make them legal. We also have a different legal system than malaysia.

This is what i think. I think he would have sold it if he'd had a 100m offer in june + the money the club owes him. I think he does want to continue to own the club, I think he just kept it on the market so he could say to fans "We'll I tried to sell it but no-one came in" Also publising Moats bid only and the fact it would appear moat had sod all money and the club were better off with Ashley would add wieght to this, I honestly think he thought well if I make it look like they'll be worse off without me then they'll take to me eventually,. He'll be here for years, look at Doug Ellis Villa fans wanted him out for years.

I don't know, I remeber alot of peoples saying that at the start of the season, we had some mental odds, was something like 3-1 to go up and 5-1 to go down. Crazy fools couldnt make up their minds.

Realistic Transfer Targets January 2010

Ebondo isn't anything but decent. We actually could probaly still acquire him if we put out the cash. I watch M'bia pretty much every week now, and I'm yet to really be impressed. How much do you think the likes of Peter Whittingham or Nicky Maynard would cost us. Maybe we could try and revive the career of David Odonkor? We could probaly get for less than free at this point. He pays us? Ashley will go in for that kind of action.
