  1. Service has been awful. So much pressure, final ball has been poor.

I used to hate Henry, but he keeps making it harder and harder to hate him when he's doing things like taking the commuter train back to NYC from the game, just hanging out with the fans. http://sports.yahoo.com/soccer/blog/dirty-tackle/post/Thierry-Henry-has-a-train-buddy-in-Rafa-Marquez-?urn=sow-268650
  3. From soccernet: Newcastle: Sol Campbell, Steven Taylor, Shola Ameobi, Joey Barton, Danny Guthrie, Peter Lovenkrands, Jose Enrique, Alan Smith, Leon Best, Fabricio Coloccini, Jonas Gutierrez, Steve Harper, Kevin Nolan, Wayne Routledge, Danny Simpson, Ryan Taylor, Mike Williamson, Xisco, Fraser Forster, Tim Krul, James Perch, Cheik Tiote, Hatem Ben Arfa. (Newcastle can also use young players including: Andy Carroll, Ryan Donaldson, Dan Gosling, James Tavernier, Tamas Kadar, Shane Ferguson, Haris Vuckic.)
  4. Was he at the match today? Would have been a nice first impression for the new guy
  5. Suarez or Honda still, imo. Suarez for me. But still, incredible shot by Tevez.
  6. US lineup: Howard; Cherundolo, DeMerit, Bocanegra, Bornstein; Donovan, Bradley, Clark, Dempsey; Altidore, Findley Not a big fan of the Clark call over Edu.
  7. Who would they give it to? There's only 10 teams in CONMEBOL, 5 already in the Cup. I'd say that's pretty impressive representation already. Doing an incredible job this WC.
  8. How did Honduras not score there
  9. Terrible by the keeper, he has to knock that out if you're going to make the ridiculous move to come out that far. But wow, what a strike. Brilliant.
  10. Btw, for anyone saying the Americans don't care about the sport, this link is for you. It may be true actually that footie is well down on the list of sports people care about here, but it's also undoubtedly true that the entire country is thoroughly engrossed with the World Cup. This was all taking place before noon, as early as 7 AM on the west coast, impressive to see the quantity of people out at incredibly packed bars (I know, I was part of the crowd in Nevada Smith's in one of those videos, it was insane): http://goal.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/06/23/across-the-u-s-an-explosion-of-joy/
  11. So looks like Ghana for 2nd right now.
  12. I can't take this anymore. Going to spend 4 long years in agony over this game (and that damn Slovenia phantom call).
  13. Glad Gomez starts though. And Edu is good. But jesus, Bornstein in there? Dear god. I was shitting it when I assumed Gooch was at the back, but now? f*** f*** f*** f***. The good news is Edu provides great cover back there, he nearly plays as a CB as it is. So hopefully we can get away without Gooch in the center. But Bornstein out on the wings will give me nightmares.
