  1.

    Villa's CL class players:

    Petrov

    end of.

Baros, Barry, Angel, Sorenson, Mellberg are all good enough for the CL.

Barry & Mellberg, the others are soft.

If that's the case, Taylor, Solano (their best player the season before last), Milner (their best player last season) N'Zogbia & Butt could all join the list below.

    Given

    Duff

    Emre

    Martins

    Owen

    Parker

Butt? A few half decent games and he's quality again? Oh and if you are going to include young promise like Taylor and Zog, then in that case I'll add Ridgewell, Davis, Agbonlahor and Gary Cahill. If you're including injured players, I'll also add Laursen.

And Emre and Parker are rated nowhere outside the north east (except briefly in the mind of McLaren, and that says it all, really).

i honesty don't think your squad is anywhere near as good as some of you think it is, I really don't. I've already mentioned the defence, and up front you're about as lightweight as it is possible to be.

re Baros and Angel as mentioned above, you're right on Angel, he's had more chances than any player down here and has never delivered consistently. Baros i think can do it, he just needs a change of club, it isnt working out for him here.

Ridgewell is no better than Ramage, in fact he's shite, dont pass him off as one for the future  Was it him giving away all the pens 4 in 4 games or something?

Cahill again same boat, might as well put up Hunty in there if your adding him.

Laursen is a joke, a one played on Villa, i might as well chuck in Bramble FFS! bluelaugh.gif

Have you seen Ridgewell this season? In fact, have you watched any football this year? He is a player transformed. The penalties you refer to were last season. I'd also point out that the Actim stats rate him as the 39th best player in the Prem this season so far, although there are two Villa players above him. Incidentally, the highest Toon player in the list is Ramage at number 99.

Cahill is a superb prospect. Excellent defender and an eye for goal. And if Laursen is a joke played on Villa, what is Owen? Just because he is injured doesnt make him a bad player. And Laursen will be back in January. When will Owen be back?

That just shows how weak your evidence is my friend, Ramage our best player this season

Baros and Angel are definately not. Barry is a good player and so is Mellberg and Sorenson is a very good keeper but i think it depends on what you class as a CL player, i would say good enough to play for one of the Quarter finalists atleast.

  3. I can't remember exactly how each player played against us from Juve even though i was at the match. Nedved has always been a remarkable player and i have a lot of respect for him so i trust that he had a good game against us. However my vote goes to Kluivert because i can remember giving him a standing ovation vividly.

  4. Moore and Sibierski couldnt make it into their teams and they were a lot older than 23 when we signed them!

They have history of being decent players though in various games/seasons. This Boya bloke doesn't have that, all he has is a single game to his name.

Charles N'Zogbia was struggling to break into the team of a second division french club, a year later...

remind me how old he was?

Younger obviously but still made a huge step forward. Some players just don't excel somewhere but can be completely different when they move! Look at Saha, was always average/good, had one very good season at Fulham after a few there was snapped up by Man U and apart from injuries has always been quality and banging them away.

Not saying this lad will be anything like that but he COULD be a good squad player.

Yeah fair point, i'm not saying we should sign him up as a squad player but i am just pointing out that we should be careful and need to be sure that he is going to benefit the club. I would be interested to know how much Bernard has cost us in wages so far this season.

I'm guessing 1/20th of what Micheal Owen has, at best

Well yeah but Owen is a world class player and there weren't many  questioning his signing, it's just been unfortunate that he has had two terrible injuries with absolutely no connection to eachother. Bernard on the other hand, he was great for us but he has struggled with his fitness for months and i'm thinking this hip injury isn't as recent as suggested.

  7. I notice the board is calling us cheats.

Regarding robben, although i must admit he exaggerated a bit, but he was fouled twice by solano and butt and that there was contact.

And the freekick, maybe they moved it, i didn't see it. But maybe everyone (footballer) do the same thing in these situtations? So we should not be targeted like this.

Thats the problem with the press imo, giving us bad names and slagging us every chance they got while people like Wenger is the Prof

Sorry for ruining the best chance of you guys winning a sliverwire tongue.gif

haha good luck in uefa cup though

Ha, F*** off, I f***ing hate Chelsea 'fans,' Chelsea are ruining football, cheating and buying the league.

hurrah!! *waves bundle of papers passionately parliament style*

  8. Don't rate Upson at all and we can't afford to spend £5m on an injury prone CB!

You can get Woodgate for that price, a real CB with real quality.

having said that £1 million per game plus 60K a week is a little expensive for him.

Hmmm, but Upson wouldn't be too far behind that total either.

Yeah you're probably right although i haven't really been taking much interest in Upson this season has he had any injuries yet?

    He hasn't played a game! bluebigeek.gif

    are you serious?

Sorry, he's back, 3 games played.

That's still pretty awful, looks like he will be our main priority then!

  13. "All bling and Burberry, high teenage pregnancy, no father on the scene, all robbing cash machines!"

A chant that Sittingbourne fans sing to local rivals Chatham (to the tune of Verdi's La Donna e Mobile).

that one made me laugh

  14. So where is Seitaridis now?

    Athletico Madrid.

Who have the joint best defensive record in the league blueeek.gif

Shit, might be doing well this season then. lol

Yeah, although their attacking play isn't up to much, if Torres left they would really start to struggle as Kezman is doing F*** all there too  What a wasted talent that boy is.

Which leads me to think a Luque make weight deal would be beneficial for both parties?

I agree with Perea too, watched him when they have been on sky and reminds me of Rio, a ball-playing defender, though more of a centre back than fullback.

Luque + 1-2 Million for Seitaridis would do nicely.

Maybe i didn't understand your post fully but isn't Kezman playing at Fenerbahce now?

    Shit.

Still he isn't doing anything there either and didn't at Atletico too.

technically your post was still correct because he is literally doing fuck all at Athletico

  16. We've had players train with us before an not sign and i dare say this lad could be another one of them. Money is tight at the club after mass spending over the last couple of years and we have huge debts and so the wage bill has to be kept under strict control i would imagine, therefore all those saying "we might aswell, he'll be cheap" perhaps need to consider the costs a little more, he will obviously cost a price(however small it is still less to spend on other players), he'll obviously want a signing on fee and his agent will surely look at newcastle and say "yes please!, how much you want to give me?" and then there will be his wage, which may not be huge but in the financial world every little counts and could mean the difference between small profit and small loss (once again less to use on other players). If he genuinely trains well and could be seen as decent back up then yes we should sign him up but having never heard of him before and hearing these poor reports of a lack of goals and lack of first team opportunities at Partizan I think we need to think very carefully whether or not the extra expenditure will balance out with the amount of pressure on first team players to keep their places and the quality of back up (lets face it with our injuries we need decent back up!).

  17. Is it just me or is this forum now full to the brim of kneejerkers and over the top arm chair pundits who can't wait to take a swipe of somw sort at the club?

To begin with, last night's preformance. I couldn't spot a player on the pitch in a black and white shirt who wasn't giving his all. For spells of the game we passed Chelsea off the pich with pace and movement. There were players who lacked quality, but it wasn't for the want of trying, what more could we ask for? Unless we are now longing for a team filled with Luque-esqe players.

So why are people viewing this as such a great disaster? We went down to a team constructed by millions of pounds who could only score from what can be described as a dubious goal, I wasn't ashamed of my team at any point, in fact, if anything I felt quite the opposite.

Scott Parker was one of those players who gave maximum effort, but to no truimph. The fact is we look better without him. I cannot stress what a fantastic player Parker is, he'll give everything for ninety five mniute, but he seems to unbalance the side. When Emre and Butt take charge of the midfield, Butt holds and Emre creates simple as that, but it would appear Parker wants to do everything and instead of helping he gets sucked to the ball leaving massive gaps in the midfield.

Although Glenn has had his critics this season he's starting to turn things around. At the begining of the season he came across as being naive and underconfident and although he still has his moments it would appear that he's improving as a manger and his confidence is growing all the time. My only complaint last night was maybe Milner should have been rested. Although we were desperate to reach the semi, Milner has had a rough shift this season and probably needs a rest. Apart from this small complaint I think Roeder got it spot on and on another night we would have beaten the dirty bastards.

    Brilliant post.
