  1. I want Milner to stay, but he has to live by the terms of the contract he not long ago, agreed to. His pay probably doesn't match that of "lesser" players, but now is not the time to ask for more money. IMO that time will only be towards the end of his current deal. Otherwise he is holding the club to ransom.

If we give in to his pay demands so soon into a contract, then others will think they can do exactly the same.

I do wan't him to stay though.

He has to be paid what he is worth.  And thats regardless of how long is left on his contract.  If he is not paid what he is worth, then he has every right to request a transfer.

The questions are, firstly is he being paid what he is worth, and if he is not, then why not.

The kid is entitled to ask for a rise and just as entitled to request a move to a club that want him enough to pay him what he is worth.  Just the same as it is with any of us in our jobs.

When he signed his contract, he agreed to play for us for "x" amount of time for "x" amount of money. Unfortunately for him, that's what he accepted, regardless of what's happened since. Personally, i think he's worth a wage comparible with the best at the club, but he's committed himself to certain terms.

His only reasonable options are to seek alternative employment or accept the terms of his contract.

  3. I think people are starting to realise that 90 mins football is only worth so much, and to question the value for money.

The cost has certainly put me off going to away games. Love away trips, but it's simply too much money these days. Can be almost £100 before you have a drink.

There were so few people in that corporate bit, at the back of the Leazes Yesterday, that i actually wondered if it had opened yet.

The club should be having a rethink regards the pricing of the area. They've tried to rip-off the fans and it's back-fired.

  4. Anyone that bought this seasons ticket for cup games received their refund yet ??

Nope and I have an email from the Box office that says this:

"We are aware that those supporters who have already renewed may have paid more than the new prices, if this is the case a refund will be automatically issued during July."

I'll wait until this week's fiasco is sorted before chasing this up.

I still await my £115 refund too. They originally said July, then early Aug', and now it's anybodies guess when we get the money back.

Grateful to be paying less next season however, and the view from my new seat is just as good.

  5. Aye, how dare they try and change things for the better and make things easier for us.

I can understand the issues guys, but howway, the BO has changed the entire way they do things...there are going to be teething problems.

Unfortunately as with anything Customer Service related we only hear the bad bits.

I have about 3/4 workmates who managed to get them no problem.

As for the ST's, with all the changes/switches they have made (and with what looks like a printing issue) there was bound to be a little bit of a delay.

Granted, the  BO are trying to improve things and hopefully, through time, they will, but these Man U tickets have been left ridiculously late. What if you'd planned to go for the weekend. You couldn't go down early because your ticket hadn't arrived.

As for picking up tickets at Old Trafford. You don't want to have to mess about doing things like that. You want your ticket before you set off.

Hope they get things sorted soon.

Oh, and they said they'd send me a refund for paying too much in avance for my season ticket, in July. Good job i'm not relying on that in a hurry.

  6. You know, a guy on 606 a week or so ago said he say Wise meeting with a player in a hotel down south somewhere, and he looked Spanish/South American with long hair and in mid 20s. Was probably him if this turns out to be true.

was the playuer wearing a spiderman mask ?

Maybe he has a child to an estranged Geordie partner and he's a father for justice who needs to be closer to the young'un.

Seriously though, never heard of him but i hope he does the business on the pitch.

  7. I paid in advance for the coming season. Our tickets are cheaper than what i paid and i'm due a refund.

At the viewing of our new seats yesterday, the NUFC staff member  informed me this refund isn't quite as big as i'd expected.

Seems i misunderstood. I didn't realise that unless you took up the price freeze option, this coming seasons ticket would cost 10% more than it would if you paid for next season only. I thought the increase  only applied the following 2 seasons.

I told them i didn't want to take up the price freeze, but on thinking about it, i may get in touch tomorrow and tell them i've changed my mind. If it's possible of course.

I wonder what happens if you commit to the 10 monthly direct debit payments and you have a dip in fortune and become skint?

    Will ask them Tomorrow.

  8. Used to be really chuffed when it was the Toons turn to have their team photo on the centre pages of shoot/match. It was like a special edition when that happened, especially in the days when we were struggling outside of the top flight.

  9. i dont want to sign up for 3 years purely because i dont know if i will be able to afford it for 3 years, plus, i might notlike the seat they move me to! BUT, i am scared that if i only sign up for 1 year, they will put the prices up massivley next year!

If i've read my renewal form correctly, they are threatening us wth a 10% rise for the  2 seasons after next, unless we take the 3 year price freeze option.
  10. While technically we can afford it, I agree its far too much to be paying.  I think £80,000 would be acceptable IMO and would help the overall saving we're trying to make on wages.

    Emre gone - £60,000

    Duff gone - £50,000

    Smith gone - £45,000

    Carr gone - £40,000

    Owen wage cut - £40,000

    Babayaro gone- £35,000

    Cacapa gone - £30,000

    Ameobi gone - £25,000

    Rozehnal - £25,000

£350,000 per week, or £18 million per year saved (obviously the wages are guestimates..).

Emre never played, Duff is useless, Smith worse then useless, Ameobi not even a fringe player, Carr useless, Baba played even less then Emre, Cacapa only backup and Rozehnal will hardly be missed having been on loan for the last 5 months.  So we're really not losing anything there..  Yet it would drop our current wage bill from £64 million per year to roughly around £46 million.

Acceptable to who? The club or Owen? I'm sure it would be acceptable to the club, but I very much doubt it would be acceptable to Owen.

You not going to replace those 8 players then? Or are you just going to use YTS lads?

PS You forgot Given off your list of useless players/crocks.

Bit harsh on Given IMO. He's stayed here for years and done a great job for the most part, when he could've signed for most other clubs and won things.

Harpers a good keeper, but in them 2 we've got a 1st class pairing.

  11. The one that sticks in the mind is Beardsleys v Brighton in the 1984 promotion season.

He brilliantly hooked the ball out of someones possession with a great sliding tackle, before chipping the ball over Joe Corrigan in goal.

David Kellys last gasp winner v Portsmouth and the 2 goals v Leicester at the end of 1991-92. They were so crucial. Without them we'd have been playing in the old 3rd division the following season. Instead we went on to be champions and reach the premier league.

  12. Wait a minute. £300 for me and £100 for the bairn in the family section? We've already paid for next seasons tickets and i'm sure they cost over £500 for the pair. It's good that we'll be along the side of the pitch by moving to the Milburn, but it is a level higher and effectively we're in the "gods".

I think i'll be having a chat with the box office staff very soon.

I don't think they force you to go to the family enclosure, but if you want to save some money and don't mind the worse view, then they'll refund the difference and move you back

As long as we don't pay over a hundred quid more than others for our tickets, i'm more than happy to stay in the family section. Bairn enjoys it and it's cheap as owt. I'll speak to the club and see about getting the difference refunded.

As for the view, i'm just hoping we won't be too far back in level 7.

E-mailed my concerns to the club regards being over-charged and ending up with a poorer view and they phoned me very soon after to tell me i'd get a refund for the difference between how much i'd paid and how much next seasons tickets will cost. £112 in my case. They also said because i've already paid for my tickets in row C, i'll also be in row C when we move to level 7. Not too high after all.

Well done to the ticket office staff for a change. Long may the good service continue.

  13. For those that know, what are the 'rules' about getting a ticket in the Family Enclosure..?

I take it that the child prices only apply to under-18s, but what is the deal with adults applying to take a child with them? My 10-year old cousin wants a season ticket for his birthday but his parents can't guarantee that they can take him every week, do you have to be an immediate family member to 'qualify' for a family enclosure seat?

    Thanks in advance

I'm in the family enclosure with my daughter.

I already had a season ticket myself, elsewhere in the ground. When we applied together and asked to get in the family end, we waited a couple of seasons. It may be different next season, as seemingly they are making it 3 times the current size, then again they are bringing the price down too.

I think the child prices apply to under 16s and when we applied i had to present her birth certificate. I guess that's so as you don't try and keep the child there beyond turning 16, as they know exactly how old they are.

I'm not sure on how close a family member you have to be, but i'd be surprised if you had a problem taking a cousin.

If you're sure you and your cousin want tickets then you're probably best applying as soon as poss', even if it means registering your interest before season ticket renewals are sent out. I think that'll be soon so be quick.

    Good luck.

  16. Refreshing to see a couple of unexpected finalists. At the end of the day though, it's one more set of fans who'll be able to come here in a mini-bus and taunt us that we've never won f**k all.

Surely there's no justice in the world, when teams such as Portsmouth, with there ungrateful, oh so very restrained in celebration, fans can win the cup.

When i see other captains lift the cup, i can't tell you how much i yearn for that to be the Toon one day.
