  1. Aye, they do have loads of young teams which should stand them in good stead for the future.
  2. Before Blue Star came back to existence I spent a few years going to and enjoying Dunston games. Blue Star came back so felt like I should follow my local non league team so been going to Scotswood a fair bit. Play off home to Horden tomorrow night and dunno if any other oldies remember "Keegans hot dogs"? but they've got a van there tomorrow with a livery with KK and red number 7s on it. It is Keegans hot dogs after all. Id post a pic if i wasn't so un tech savvy. There was a post in the Blue Star WhatsApp group today where someone said "We are Blue Star not NUFC and anything to do with NUFC should be banned from the club". Surely not wise to alienate fans of both? They run out to local hero, owner and top goalscorer been away to watch the toon in Europe this season. Guess there's always one but it's never felt as welcoming as Dunston.
  3. Would be surprised, amazed even if they could do that at their current site.
  4. Aye, I'd probably be happier with a Spurs win tomorrow because keeping Chelsea at bay improves our great chance of finishing 6th/7th and gaining a euro place of some sort, while a 5th place finish is a long shot.
  5. Think the Luton bloke tried to bring in ID cards for fans too. Knee jerk reactions after a bad night when Millwall fans stormed their pitch and smashed half of Kenilworth Road up, mid 80s.
  6. Aye, hadn't realised W Ham have such awful fixtures.
  7. Think that's how it works. My local club Blue Star are in the NL2 play offs and that's how they work in that division by all accounts.
  8. An unbelievable 40 years to the day since we beat Carlisle in our promotion season. Think it was Easter Monday? Carlisle were also contenders for much of that season. Saved a pen then broke upfield to score at the other end. Happy days. This from nufc.com: 1984 Carlisle United (h) 5-1 (2-0) Division Two P38, 73pts, 3rd/22 Keegan(12,54), Waddle(39), Beardsley(73,77) Coughlin(80) 33,458 Vandals broke into the ground before this bank holiday game and sprayed slogans on the pitch related to an ongoing criminal trial. A claim of broken glass also having been scattered was found to be false and after the offending slogans had been painted out, the match went ahead as scheduled. Kevin Carr saved Alan Shoulder's penalty and also a follow-up shot with Keegan heading United's third seconds later as play rapidly switched to the other end of the field. Victory and favourable results in the games involving rivals Manchester City and Grimsby Town meant that promotion was in reach - United having a seven point cushion with four games remaining.
  9. Aye, remember him being at Cosy Joes. The cheek of him, given how he hates the mags so much. Strangely didn't see him wear his FTM shorts in there though. I once got forcibly manhandled out of there for drunkenly giving him verbals. Dunno if he still gets in there like as getting older means I have rare night's in town these days.
  10. Can't stand either set of fans either and certainly agree with you on the arrogance matter but Man u spend almost whole games trying to wind opposing fans up, certainly ours. Scousers are a peculiar bunch. I like the city. Stayed there many times and the people, in every day life are generally decent. Then they turn into cunts when it comes to football.
  11. There simply isn't a set of more arrogant, antagonistic set of "fans" in the country.
  12. So...Chelsea finish 6th, us 7th and Manure 8th we'd need Citeh to win to give us even a Conference league place?
  13. Aye, forgot to say, in the event of them finishing 6th and us 7th. Suppose IF Cov make then we'll know who we need/want to win the final when it comes around.
  14. Confused with all these permutations. Does that mean if either Manchester club wins the cup then 7th is enough? Damn it, can't even enjoy a potential Cov giant killing.
  15. 1-1 HT. Looked like a pen for Aberdeen just before the break. Think I reluctantly need anybody but Aberdeen to win the cup so my Scottish team, St Mirren have a chance of Europe. Currently 5th going into the post split fixtures.
  16. Unbelievable performance. Remember thinking they must score this time, but no.
  17. Who are Spartans playing? Think it's across town to watch Blue Star at Blyth Town for me.
  18. Obviously want us to have as great a chance of European qualification as possible but can't bring myself to be sitting in front of the box cheering on City/Arsenal. Ordinarily would like them and Liverpool to be beaten into oblivion, even though they're English.
  19. Mate has been to Morpeth to watch his local team Worksop. Heading home now has said there's an overturned bus on the other side of the A1 with what looks like South Shields fans on board. Hope everyone is ok.
  20. Will the club mark his passing today? Minutes silence/applause? Going to be one the most awkward I'll ever have experienced if so.
  21. Tottenhams' Oliver Skip(p)?
  22. Sign of the times that they were all tossing off after a goalless draw tonight. I listened to the fan reaction on the radio as I drove home from work.
  23. Sure it was a last minute goal too. Boro won the league cup that day to add to my miserable coach journey back. Our coach broke down, North Yorkshire area I think. The replacement coach still had plastic Boro flags on the seats to anger me more. Must have dumped them lot off then got the call to pick us up.
  24. Love the Mad Mistake videos and the characters in it but not keen on this bloke. He's mainly played a bit part in the ground at games til now but seems like he wants a starring role. He's even bagged himself entry into Winceys bar and grill for heavens sake.
