Yep Levy nearly always hands players 5 year contracts. IIRC Bale is the only player in our squad whose contract is somewhat close to expiring (2012). I think he'll be offered a new contract very soon. Really? We have been shafted in the past by doing that, I'm surprised it happens so much. Does anyone here have proof that he demanded a pay rise? Even if he did, he possibly wanted parity with some other players. I like that about Redknapp. He isn't one to let players rot on the bench. If he paid a big fee he tries very hard to not make it a total disaster and ship them back out for a reasonable fee. KD, does Redknapp give his new signings long contracts? e.g. How long is Pav contracted to Tottenham for? I know it doesn't really matter nowadays, but I'd imagine his philosophy would be to give them a long contract if they prove themselves... never start with more than 3 years (unless it's a youngster).

I'm not saying he was great here, but he was better than most of the other dross we had. Anyway, 45 appearances for Aston Villa this season. 10 goals and 15 assists, good contribution from the lad. I think this is his level however, Aston Villa have great mobility around him and he can play off that. When he was here we were about as mobile as Stephen Hawkings penis.

He wasn't rubbish. I have no idea why people say this. He was one of our better players for much of his time here. His goal against Manchester United made me cream myself.

Another reason why I am going to say this again. Once the league is wrapped up give him a bash in a holding midfield role! His passing is superb, his flamboyancy won't be punished so hard and his defensive presence will protect the back four.
