  1. . . . and all of a sudden it STOPS . . . over SIX HOURS since the last posting in this thread! After all the "waffle", the last six hours (which may be unique in the life of this thread?) is probably the most accurate reflection of what is happening now . . . NOTHING !!
  2. Come on, man. People getting a paycheck from the club have no clue what's going on. How are we supposed to? This thread is all it could ever possibly hope to be. Yeah you're right, its not really this thread, it's the whole ENDLESS situation that has got me in a bitofa pissed off mood . . sorry. Oh and where LiquidAK says . . . "manorpark clearly pissed off that he doesn't have an ITK dog". Well of course, THAT TOO . . . !!!!!
  3. Can we not just delete about 500 pages of this thread, particularly the last few pages of aimless, pointless waffle . . . Y A W N.
  4. Considering Man U had ranted against Abramovich after spending vast sums, while they did the same on the likes of Rooney, Ferdinand, and a host of others for prices pretty much at LEAST as high as what Chelea were spending, why is Abramovich any worse ? Like all the huge amounts of money WE spent, the Manchester United money was EARNED money (in football). The Abramovich money was just "given/donated" and had nothing to do with earned football money. It made a fairly grotty mid-table club into a superficial 'big' club (despite HUGE losses of about £300M in many individual years). Ever heard of the term "speculate to accumulate" ? Why the hell should the same teams stay winning stuff because they have the highest attendances (never worked with us) ? Good for Chelsea, good for Man City - new faces winning things is GOOD - by however they get there. It is strange for me to see someone using the phrase "speculate to accumulate" to ME!!! That was the very phrase that I (as a very young-un) used to use in many of my letters to Mckeag & Co, before SJH took over. As a lad I could not understand why we did not do that, why we did not spend the money we had earned from our huge crowds and TV money (albeit MUCH smaller then) etc. We 'must' be a big club (all the evidence was there) I thought, why did we not "speculate to accumulate" like Liverpool did?? In all my years of letter writing to NUFC in those days, I only got ONE reply - thanking me for my interest!

  6. How expectations have fallen . . . I cannot even begin to think about the possibility of ever agreeing with thoughts like that!! Amazing!
  7. You can easily take out 494 pages of nothing tbh Just leave my bits in . . . sorted!
  8. That's beacause I got it from there, especially when most of them reported Sol "snubbing" us I'm sure a fair few women have said to me "You are a love rat so I am going to snub you for ever now". They have certainly 'done' that, but mebbe they just actually said f**k off.
  9. Another false dawn. Good. Wasn't expecting anything different. Ha Ha, yes, sorry, was being flippant - but I think we have all learnt this summer not to get too excited as each 'revelation' breaks. I have (despite myself) genuinly got my hopes up so many times . . . . so I just react like this now! To respond more rationally - it COULD happen, but I don't think it will.
  10. I live exactly 60 minutes and 30 seconds away from SJP, so fall outside of your parameters . . . and I have just done a 'quickie' calculation and must have been to SJP about 850 times more than the ten you mention! As a 'glory hunter' I got my first season ticket the year after we won the European Fairs Cup, though (the real reason was) I had only been able to afford to go occasionally, for a few years before that. Think of that - a Newcastle United supporter who genuinly calls himself a Glory Hunter !!!!!!!!!
  11. Thanks, could be good news today then. But, what we really need (rather than 'more from a paper') is official news from the parties involved. Only then will we really have anything to get excited about. We will just have to be patient (again . . . ) I suppose.
  12. Schoolboy error. It was built up to that point by the last lot of idiots squandering money on trophy players and running the club as disastrously as they did to build up the fanbase and get them spending their cash on tickets, merchandise, TV packages, etc. Frightening that some (most?) still don't appreciate this fundamental point and take it for granted NUFC is an automatic money generating machine. I have put it simply but it could do with re-saying it seems. Factually and indisputably, for a very long time we have been one of the richest clubs in this country (it was the "big five" for finance, not the big four) and one of the richest clubs on the planet. We were one of the richest clubs in the world WITH European money, AND also WITHOUT it. It is how we have 'spent' our riches, that has been the problem. We have earned amongst the highest incomes in the world year after year after year (after year) - and squandered it.
  13. I don't want to be taken over by Moat if he can't add to the squad, we need sufficent funds to strengthen the squad end of. Shepherd was not that rich and yet we were challenging for the Champions League, Albeit with him being a bit overzealous with the clubs cashflow. The revenue this club makes could easily see us ok in the premiership under a proper chairman. 1) You make sure you do your homework on players before you buy. 2) Ensure you have a sensible wage structure. 3) Develop youth so you don't have to buy all the time. I would rather have the Arsenal model than one of Chelsea's or Man City's, even though it would be nice to have loads of cash thrown at the club I wouldn't feel the same satisfaction as if it was done from the ground up. If no club had benefactors, if there was no champions league money, then NUFC would be in the top 2 or 3 for finance. What? Look, just pointing out facts. to be a fact it has to be true. you made an assertion which happens to be false. I broughgt up facts based on season ticket sales previous, crowd figures, shirt sales. I brought in the fact that the Champions league brings in millions and build a momentous advantage, I brought in a fact that Chelsea have an finacial advantage over clubs with bigger fan bases. Now if the finance was based solely on fan base my premise would be true. Fact, fact. fact. would it bollocks, you leave out things like wages that we pay compared to the likes of bolton and wigan who even though we have higher turnover and the past euro money have far less debt than we do. it all comes down to wages. it's possible that without benefactors and champs league we may be in the top 2 or 3 in turnover but as we have been a fantastic example of ,a high turnover doesn't mean a lot if we are spending more than you can afford. edit....unless of course you are confusing "finance" with turnover like the papers do when clubs losing money hand over fist are in the rich list based purely on turnover. To be fair, he just said that, on a level playing field, we would be in the top 2 or 3 in terms of income; which is clearly the case. What the idiots running the club do with that income is a separate matter. That is completely correct, for a very long time we have been one of the richest clubs in this country (it was the "big five" for finance, not the big four) and one of the richest clubs on the planet. It is how we have 'spent' our riches, that has been the problem. You CANNOT (in the real world) argue with that basic fact. We have earned amongst the highest incomes in the world year after year after year - and squandered it.
  14. First thing I thought. f*** 'em, Moat in. First thing that came to my kind as well. Stump up the cash quickly or f*** off basically. The whole thing (welcome, if it was real) sounds very contrived, to me. Don't believe it. Llambiarse was publicising the deal with the Graham Roberts fans bid last week which turned out to be a storm in a tea cup. I hope this is different obviously, but it all seems a bit late to be going through due diligence at this stage. If they are making a bid, DD is done i think. What's the betting that if a deal with 'someone' is done, it will be signed the day the Transfer Window closes. Ashley, as determined as ever to f**k us as much as he can . . . Well if we end up with Robinho I'll be happy. That's what I once said about the missus . . . hmmmm

  17. First thing I thought. f*** 'em, Moat in. What about this confidentiality thing. Maybe they have been sniffing around Llambias' hoop for the past couple of months. and so (suddenly) it's a 'no confidentiality' thing then?
  18. If they are seriously interested (and have enough backing/money) WHERE have they been all summer?
  19. Well, it does seem that it is taking the 'Moat Consortium' (shall we call it) quite some time to get the NUFC overdraft level agreed with the banks (what else could the delay be about?) and so from that you can speculate that the consortium does not have as much money behind it as Ashley has. And, when you consider the fact that Ashley has nowhere near enough money to run a competitive and potentially successful ('big spending', of necessity, to be successful) Premier League Club, what hope can we have for the Moat Consortium, for the future? "Rid of Ashley" might well turn out to be it's best (if not its only) plus-point! I think all you can draw from the fact that the renewal of the overdraft is taking so long is that Barclays are unwilling to give a Premiership level overdraft to a Championship club. I honestly believe that even if Ashley remains in charge Barclays will still be looking to reduce the overdraft. So says Louise Taylor. She may be right but banks will generally offer any overdraft facility providing it is adequately secured and there is a business plan in place that shows the bank is not simply funding trading losses. Moat may be unable to satisfy one or both of those requirements. To be honest the club's turnover is now probably somewhere in the region of £50 million so an overdraft requirement as large as £20 million suggests there is something not hanging together with the business plan. Moats difficulty may well be in convincing the banks that the much lower Turnover figure of £50M-£60M (or whatever) will only last for 12 months!!! May have difficulty convincing ME of that!

  21. We are already sold. We will be told all about that fact, in Monday's announcement. This announcement HAS been 'announced' (that we are having one) on the Official Club Website, I assume?
  22. Yes it is possible that it could be a positive announcement. A lot of people on here have put two and two together though . . . and made about 42 (HHGTTG) . . . Myself, I think the odds are about 60/40 in favour of the announcement saying "XXX will be taking over WEF xxx". So, 60/40 - what do the rest of you think? I think that we have been led down the garden path too often by Ashley and co to trust them. Its best getting the thought in your head that Ashley is staying, will not spend 1 penny more than he has to, is going to continue selling players and that O'Leary or Kinnear will be coming in as boss. By doing this at least you wont be disappointed if and when this happens. I know what you mean, but I think a dose of strong drink tonight and Saturday - with THAT thought in my head - would probably mean I would never see Monday!!! Nah, he's GOT TO be going! (70/30 . . . )

Still clinging on that this will be positive 50/50 though So . . so far we have had a 60/40, 40/60 and 50/50 (average 50/50) - so people are not as "negative" as some posts have seemed . . .
