  1. sure i read that one of the biggest reasons he wants to leave man city is due to the fact he simply cant go out in liverppol or manchester for getting hassle of opposition fans for his past, cant see how London would change as there are so many teams in the city. If he comes to us we are a one team city and if he gets bothered it will be for his autograph more than owt else. Personally think that will be the deciding factor in his decision.
  2. on man city's official website that he has requested permission to talk to both clubs, now wether he had done that and made up his mind to join us, hence why he is with allardyce or he is yet to speak to west ham is another matter.
  3. yeah, think he wants the league why else would you become so close to signing for chelsea when you play for Liverpool?
  4. Agree with Parky to an extent, not in terms of he has to move to be considered a great, Liverpool are one of the most successful teams in history anyway so its not like he has to move to play in top competitions, however if i was a Gerrard and in the past clubs like Real, Barca, Milan teams have shown interest i just dont see why you would be so against playing in another country even if you are a pool supporter, think footballers are extremely lucky to be in a career where the can work in other countries and experience other cultures etc... Even as a Toon fan the tought of Playing for a club like Barca for me would be to good to turn down. You have your whole life to be a supporter.
  5. signed for stuggart earlier this week
  6. think yaya is a defensive mid, probably join his brother kolo at arsenal in my opinion, wouldnt suprise me if wenger had a word with his former employers monaco to sign him so he could watch and keep tabs on his development, thought it was a strange move for him to go there after his preformances in the world cup.
  7. also think Allardyce tried to sign Riquelme for Bolton when he left Barca.
  8. think it depends what midfield system you play? ask him to get up and down pitch and you have no chance, sit him at the the top of a triangle behind strikers and it may work. Agreed it wont happen but in owen and martins we have two strikers who would have a field day with his slide rule pass ala saviola's goal in world cup v ivory coast
  9. massive longshot but hasnt riquelme fallen out of favour with villareal? on loan at boca juniors at moment i tihink
  10. anyone see the volley he scored away to hamburg in champs league? thought he plays on the right though? sure he did for argentina before emergence of maxi rodriguez.
  11. Ok long time reader, first time Poster. thoughts about Parker are that: his Newcastle career was over the moment Roeder decided he should be our box to box midfielder. You can say many things about souness (C**t) is my personal favourite but atleast he knew how to get the best out of him. Parker's performances in first season were utterly awesome(Arsenal game) was one of best i have ever seen not for technical ability but for sheer heart and wllingness to win and say you shall not break us down. Lost count the number of times i was sat in my seat and the M.O.M was announced Parker, he became a real fans hero, he also seemed to really fall in love with the place ala Rob Lee. Then Glandular Fever hit and his energy levels fell dramatically towards the end of season meaning his season somewhat ended on a whimper. Second season Rodent in his wisdom decided to send Parker onto the park with the instructions to run box to box for 90 mins and pick up ball around centre circle and see a killer pass. can you see Mourinho deciding to tell Makelele to do that and for Lampard to sit back? didnt think so, que lots of spinning round in a circle frustrating crowd because simply that is not in Parker's footballing brain to do so. If you are an opposing player/manager would you prefer Parker trying to slot martins through on goal or seeing him put your star playmaker 10 feet in the air wiining ball and starting off an attack? now do we sell giving the price being offered? to be honest i dont think we have a choice as i think we lost Parker the moment the minority muppets abused him against SheffUtd (one of my worst feelings as a Toon Fan seeing that)being a season ticket holder looking at Parker's body language during games i felt a move was inevitable, just hasnt had same drive as when he first came. Replacement? Got ta admit i am a huge Barton fan(if you look past the fact he is a total fruit cake) reminds me very much like Gerrard in the way he drives at a back four with aggression, he also can put a ball on a 6pence from various ranges and spot a killer little pass behind back four when necessary watch the 3-0 before Souness was sacked, but he is not Parkers replacement due to the fact Parker should not have been used in that way in the first place. So to summarise if you do leave scotty, good luck and i wish you all the best, never forget you tapping out Arsenal home game.
