  2. Well... what a difference a few days can make.
  3. I believe our strike force will recover better from injuries as we have enough options upfront. With Smith, Viduka, Martins, Owen, Ameobi and Luque to chose from, it means that we don't need to rush anyone back from injury as there are plenty of strikers to chose from. If Viduka and Owen are injured, I'm happy with Smith, Martins and Luque to chose from (and vice versa).
  4. that's 2 goals more in total than what I predicted using same players. How do you think the rest of our squad will do?
  5. Ours is defo the most injury prone.
  6. well if all 3 did score 20 goals each in the Premier League then that would be 22 more goals than our entire squad scored last season.
  7. The tall fellow has fallen asleep.

  9. I swear Alan Smith wears lipstick.
  10. A whole hour! WOW! SSN, hang your heads in shame.
  11. Ok... so how many goals do people expect from our players this year? This is how we have done in recent EPL years. 04/05 = 45 05/06 = 46 06/07 = 38 Surely we will score more this season. We just seem to have a bunch of players who can score a fair few of them. Here's what I'm hoping for in the EPL... Mark Viduka = 10 Obafemi Martins = 10 Michael Owen = 10 Alan Smith = 5 Albert Luque = 5 Shola Ameobi = 5 Joey Barton = 5 James Milner = 5 Geremi = 3 Emre = 3 Damien Duff = 3 Charles N'Zogbia = 3 Steven Taylor = 3 That's 70 goals. Should be plenty of firepower to get us in to top 6. What is really an unknown quantity is how our defence will cope given its new players that need time to gel. I'm hoping quality players who have just met play better than last years rear guard. We let in 47 goals last season. Spurs let in 54! So I'm hoping that we will defend better to make our extra firepower earn more points. We were 16 points off a Top 6 spot last season. We also lost 5 and drew 7 at home which is something I'm hoping we will improve on. There's 29 points up for grabs there if we improve on last season home form. We also only won 36.8% of our home games. That's awful really, SJP must be a fortress that teams fear. Even Boro managed 10 wins at home, with Reading, Pompey and Everton chalking up 11 home wins. I have a good feeling we will be able to score enough goals to get 11+ home wins this season and push for a top 6 spot. Fingers crossed... (edited to add Alan Smith)
  12. Sol didn't play much there, i always remember him from an early age being a CB. Carragher was classed as very average until his move to CB, which just proves my point in a nutshell. Sol Campbell was definitely a right back when he broke into the Spurs team. Not long though. So Sol Campbell played at right back sometimes. Why should that mean that Taylor should?
  13. Agree. Think we should release him now. Do him and the club a favour really...
  14. Geremi, Nobby and Taylor can all put in a good shift at right back. Agreed. However, why not sign a right back so you don't need to rely on playing someone out of their natural position? - We all know that injuries will hit us next year, hopefully not as bad as recent years, so why rely on these players to cover Carr when we need them playing elsewhere on the pitch.
  15. Drago and Baines in, Babayaro out. Now that is good stuff. Let's hope it all happens.
  16. Don't think anyone is suggesting it would do him harm at right back, but surely this is the time to nail a proper right back (or at least a decent natural right back youngster to back up Carr) so that we don't resort to playing a giant centre back out of position at right back, i.e Taylor. If we lose Carr, Solano and a centre back to injury, where do we play Taylor? - Surely safer to have him at centre back and someone else covering the right back spot.
  17. He just has never looked good enough and I think he's destined for lower leagues. Feel bad for the lad, as I want any player in a black & white shirt to turn out for the best...
  18. Agreed. the lad is a centre back through and through.
  19. Nah, fuck it. Let's sign a right back. If we want decent players and cover in all areas of the pitch, we need a right back too. Capaca, Drago, Baines, Smith... plus a right back. If these signings come off then I'm very pleased.
