  2. Good, then he can have the credit if somebody else comes in and matches what we've bid. Aye "Well, we weren't going to make a bid because we'd never heard of him, but then when this lad emailed SSN, we thought, why not?"
  3. If we get him and Drago we'd be covered.

  13. SAM Allardyce admits that once he knew a player of Alan Smith's quality was available he did not have to think twice about making a move. The 26-year-old England star penned a five-year deal with the Magpies on Friday and became Big Sam's fifth signing of the summer. And, as the Toon gaffer told Newcastle World TV, he is delighted to have the Premiership winner on board at St.James'. "Once I knew a player of Alan's quality was available I didn't have to think twice about making a move," said the 52-year-old boss. "I think it's one of the quickest transfers I've ever been involved in because we knew straight away we wanted him here. "I'm delighted to have a player of Alan's ability and character at Newcastle United and I'm sure he'll be an excellent signing for the club. "I spoke with him and explained our plans for the club and he was very impressed, thankfully he chose us because there was a lot of interest from other clubs. "He's a versatile player who I envisage we will be able to use in a number of positions. "I'm looking forward to working with him and it shows his attitude that he wants to be involved straight away against Sampdoria on Sunday." nufc.co.uk

  15. Not essential, but very important to the future ambitions of the club.
  16. The lads welcome Smith to Newcastle.... http://img453.imageshack.us/img453/2580/smithgx9.jpg Credit to DavB93 for the pic.
  17. Anyone see that on SSN? Just turned to his signing and said "Why did you sign for Man United?" (or something along those lines, only caught a glimpse)
  18. Just looked at the front cover of The Mag from last year. The front cover says "All our hopes rest on a player who isn't even ours. Just how bad can it get?" That was in reference to Rossi. What a difference a year makes, eh?
  19. Too much anyway, wouldn't pay anything over 4m max for him, highly doubt Baines "snubbed" Everton as he was even at the ground the other day, fee problems and hopefully we can nick him. You've been to Goodison Park? An hour there and you're thinking... 'God I'll have to play here 18 times a season, my car don't stand a chance' (pulls phone out of pocket) 'Hello Sam?, Please bring me up to Newcastle, I'll accept any wage you want to offer, just get me away from Goodison!' After the Dyer incident, no cars are safe
  20. Still no update on SSN. Waiting for the swoooosh, then: "news just in from newcastle---over to david craig" "well chaps, im here at SJP with the chronicle in hand, leighton..." "no david, smith has just signed" "you what???"
  21. He's wearing Joeys number in training
