Annoyingly I think Mbeumo goes to Man Utd. Hope I’m wrong.
-
Hate the idea of spending money on cover players. Buy someone young who can develop into a first team regular (ideally) or get in a freebie.
-
I did say overpay . Realistically he’s not moving for less than 40 though, regardless.
-
Howe will get him quickly and show Mitch how it’s done. Too much work’s gone into the deal for them to just abandon it outright. Think we’ll overpay and get him in early for around 50m.
-
They said they wanted 100m. Now I know Southampton aren’t silly enough to think anyone would pay close to that but it would suggest that’s he’s not leaving for less than 40 odd.
-
Don’t get the hype around Dibling. Super young and some flashy dribbles here and there, sure, but for above 40 or 50m or whatever? That’s a lot of bunce for someone who’d do well to even reach Madueke levels.
-
Fair. Reading more up on him, he does sound promising. Cant get over how many times he’s losing the ball in all those YouTube videos though. Folks on here would have a fit
-
They just bought him for 12m and he doesn’t start. Judging by his highlights 30m should be more than enough, surely.
-
Looking at Jonathan Rowe from Marseille according to some rags. Pretty random link. His YouTube highlights make him look awful though

I feel bad now. Wtf.

There’s way more examples of unproven players failing in the prem than succeeding. You’re talking about those successes with the benefit of hindsight.
-
We could have always sold a purple. None of the big players we bought (maybe Barnes?) went down in value. A transfer policy that’s allowed us to get players like Tonali, Isak, Hall, Livramento, Botman, Bruno and Gordon; bringing us a trophy, bringing us Champions’ League nights etc. and now putting us in a position where we can spend big again without selling the Crown Jewels is not fit for purpose?
-
The same policy that has gotten us 2 Champions League qualifications, a final and a trophy from starting in a relegation position? Or the same one that bought the player in Minteh that massively helped solve said PSR issues? Yes, imo.
-
Listen, all is forgiven-onwards and upwards- but if he did his own job quietly then we wouldn’t have had the issues we had upon his arrival.
-
The PSR hole was filled by his predecessors wasn’t it? Those players were sold before his arrival. Watch Howe’s interviews after Mitchell’s comments. Eddie certainly felt he was being heavily scrutinized.
-
Like 60m in total? 15m per player? I reckon Sunderland could spend more than that.
-
The guy has done nothing positive so far (besides the Kelly sale?) and took Howe on last summer causing unneeded unrest which led to a shaky start to the PL campaign. Monaco fans largely hate him for talking a lot and doing nothing of note. Granted, he hasn’t had the time to prove his worth here yet so let’s see. Big summer ahead for the club; I hope he succeeds.
-
That woman who supports Man United (Alice? The one who has a soft spot for us) was supposedly quoting him saying this in her latest video. Wondering if anyone has seen this or if our resident PSR nerds could give some actual insight.
-
Is Douglas saying we’ll spend in excess of 250m?
-
@Froggy . I want to pm him a “good ebening” but he doesn’t know who I am and he’s actually quite canny.
-
Good poster but only shows up when Villa are doing well nowadays, it seems. Was giving it the big one about winning the UCL some weeks ago.

Akliouche has that in his locker and is going straight to the top imo. Perfect Howe player as well with his work rate and physical attributes. I’d be shocked if PSG don’t spend big on him.
-
Akliouche or Mbeumo for the marquee rw signing. A quality right sided defender for 40 odd million. (Guehi, ideally) A good young goalkeeper. (Trafford, Garcia) Combative midfielder. (Dunno) Reliable/ young backup striker. (Delap if we have the budget) Obviously we won’t get all of those but that’s what we need for a title push.
