The Daily Star (I know) says we're interested in a loan (along with Brighton). That makes more sense.
-
Not surprised they rejected it, think that's low by today's standards. He's worth more than that to WBA.
-
To make things interesting you should all agree that the top 2 teams from each of the groups plus the two other highest scorers compete in Group A next season. The beginnings of N-O FPL Draft pyramid.
-
The problem with your scenario is you're assuming that any of the 20 Premier League clubs do or should care about Real Sociedad, Aberdeen, or even Brentford.
-
Sociedad don't want the Port Vale player in July, as Real Madrid haven't signed their player yet (for £5m in might add, far too good an offer to turn down). I agree with you by the way, Nuts off his nut :-D
-
That was a serious post? I thought it was a joke.
-
Sociedad don't have to sell (though this hypothetical works better with PL clubs). Port Vale can sell in July to fund toilets.
-
I'm still not seeing the logic. If a club is so desperate for money they can still sell and if they are desperate for money to use on new players then they just change the timing. Sell player on July 15 instead of August 15.
-
Money rules football and the Premier League is swimming in it right now, but that just means they can look out for their own interests. There's a competitive issue with not closing the window before the season starts and the PL has every right to decide they want to fix that. If that has an impact on a newly promoted La Liga club or a Scottish club then they'll need to adjust or UEFA can do something about it.
-
Yup. Two of the best players in the league are "injured" and unavailable because of the current system. Depending on how long this takes they could miss 8% of the PL season for no reason. It's a farce.
-
I'm not sure any of us would be complaining about cringeworthy videos if we were spending 25-30m and up on exciting players.
-
If they need money then sell before the deadline. This doesn't prevent clubs from doing anything they do now, it just shifts the timeline.
-
I like how they don't show him in a Madrid shirt, instead showing Ronaldo.
-
Can't grumble. Not doing such fancy videos is what allowed us to afford Joselu. Those clubs pay for those videos. Remembering that just makes it funnier. They also pay for players worth making videos for.
-
The most inexcusable one. Unlike any outfield positions we could find a first choice keeper for 5m or less.
-
Much easier to say no to a player/agent when the answer is "we cant replace you so you can't go" as opposed to now where it's "there's not a lot of time to replace you." The first couple years may have some headaches for clubs trying to hold onto players but once a couple precedents are set it will be fine. This will force all of Europe to change the timeline on which they move in the market since so much money is coming out of the PL. Because of that I think it's very possible this starts a change across other leagues. UEFA may even decide it's a good thing to have final squads before the CL qualifiers.

Check out Togga, way better. We used to use draftfantasyfootball.co.uk, which is also better than this nonsense the official site shipped well before it was ready.
-
Likely has more to do with this impacting their ability to buy and shuttle players between the clubs they own.
-
Same, hope he falls down a well.
-
No chance they will get 25m for him but we won't pay whatever it ends up being either.
-
I'm thrilled about this - been wanting it to happen for years. Also a great thing for draft fantasy leagues.
-
Great, now buy a keeper with the money saved.
-
Same, I'm expecting him to miss at least half the season right now.

From the Telegraph article about Rafa wanting five more:
-
I think Rafa's main frustration lies in the fact that he had a plan to fill the positions he identified as areas of need and a big part of that plan started with Abraham and Caballero and we fucked it up. Now 2 months later we still haven't signed anyone in either of those positions, likely because we've found other options at similar talent levels to be too expensive.
