  1. Even if it were Hitler protesting it wouldn't make it any more acceptable for someone to put a fucking towel on their head.
  2. Which was an argument made for justifying racism in comedy in the past, that now seems abhorrent, "I know black people who say they find it funny too". Putting aside the thorny and often overextended issue of cultural appropriation (just about all culture is appropriated to some extent, the line comes when it relates to something that is significant to a minority group whose culture has been attacked etc.), the phrase 'towel head' has direct racist associations and is clearly inappropriate to put a fucking towel on your head in that context.
  3. Apparently Citeh fans did but were also asked to stop by the club.
  4. On the other site of the equation Warren Barton was fighting the good fight yesterday on Talksport, absolutely spot on about Bruce's tactical ineptitude.
  5. Looking back at reports from when he was sacked by the mackems and Villa they're almost word for word the same, blaming 'vile abuse' from the fans, painting himself as a victim.
  6. However, that bit where he says it makes him really uncomfortable when his team can't keep possession. He better start learning to cope with that feeling.
  7. Not really, although it's a very subjective matter.
  8. He wasn't even peak handsome in that Newcastle team (Mathieu Debuchy) and Schär is fitter.
  9. I think it would probably just be that the income wouldn't count towards the FFP calculation.
  10. Conceived at a meeting that one club wasn't invited to. The PL already have the power to recalculate the FFP figure based on what it considers a fair market value for any related party transactions so this new rule is not needed anyway. The only thing it would do is entrench the self fulfilling position where the big 6, and Man U in particular, get massive sponsorship deals and everyone else gets a pittance.
  11. And the restriction on joining other competitions without PL approval clearly is. That's why the government had to threaten legislation to stop the ESL. I think there's probably a lot of stuff in the rules that relies on the compliance of the clubs because it wouldn't hold up if legally challenged.
  12. They're playing a dangerous game, because since FFP came into force there seems to have been a lot of speculation in legal circles as to whether it would hold up to challenge under competition law. If they push Man City and us into doing that they might end up with there being no FFP rules at all.
  13. I bet Jamie Reuben, one of the top 10 highest tory donors and chairman of Boris Johnson's London mayoral election campaign, is quaking in his expensive boots at the outcome of Tracy Crouch's review. It feels nice to actually be on the right side of tory cronyism for once.
  14. That was just the meeting with the vote to impalement it, apparently they came up with it during their No Newcastles Club meeting.
  15. It makes sense from their point of view, it would a risk to sack him without a replacement lined up. They probably wanted to see if there would be any bounce from the positivity around takeover before making that decision, and there was, it lasted ten minutes.
  16. Putting aside the moral issues around Saudi human rights, wahhabist ideology and support of terrorism the 'tea towel' thing is just embarrassing and potentially offensive to Arab people.
  17. Oh yeah, that's the problem with a society where 1% of the population hold a quarter of the wealth and 2.5m people need to use food banks to survive
  18. Whilst this is great let's not forget that they donate hundreds of thousands of pounds to the tories, whose policies have resulted in a 60 fold rise in the use of food banks since 2010.
  19. Pardew was better at hiding his hatefulness, I can't remember him being as deliberately antagonistic to the fans or talking the club down in the way Bruce has. That together with Bruce being from the area and supposedly growing up a Newcastle supporter pushes him past Pardew in the hatefulness stakes for me.
  20. I think there's a fair chance he won't survive until tomorrow now. The new owners must be fuming at how unprofessional he has been and how he's gone out all guns blazing against the press that they will want to keep on side.
  21. Get out of our club you fat turncoat bastard!
  22. When Bruce was appointed it don't think there was the likely prospect a takeover on the horizon. I think it's probably more of a case of desperation, him being the only manager they'd found willing to take the job on the basis of being a yes man with no say in transfers.
