Massive statement of intent, it will definitely help to attract other players to the project that might otherwise have been hesitant. Also puts to bed any worries of the people running the club being naïve to the workings of football, what a fucking bargain!
-
It'll be a new record low this season I think, there are three teams competing for the championship, hoovering up points and the bottom 4 are cut adrift. Watford are on course to get 27 points, low 30s will possibly be enough to stay up.
-
Yes, he'll obviously be looking to get paid as much as he can, but a lot of players would refuse to play in that situation.
-
If it were just about cash and he were a mercenary he wouldn't have been playing tonight.

Howe's appointment was reportedly delayed by negotiations over Tindall's wage. We might have a lot of money behind us but our owners clearly aren't going to be pushovers.
-
We'd be daft to bid the release clause amount straight away.
-
I think the first one is more of a pronounciation (sic) thing.
-
It's spelt with an 'h'. (and 'h' is actually pronounced 'aitch' for those that think 'h-aitch' is correct)

I was recently in a webinar with a barrister, a QC no less, who said "mute point". A fucking QC!

Doesn't even come in the top 30: 1. To be pacific (instead of to be specific) 2. An escape goat (instead of a scapegoat) 3. Damp squid (instead of damp squib) 4. Nipped it in the butt (instead of nipped in the bud) 5. On tender hooks (instead of on tenterhooks) 6. Cold slaw (instead of coleslaw) 7. A doggie-dog world (instead of dog-eat-dog world) 8. Circus-sized (instead of circumcised) 9. Lack toast and tolerant (instead of lactose intolerant) 10. Got off scotch free (instead of got off scot-free) 11. To all intensive purposes (instead of to all intents and purposes) 12. Boo to a ghost (instead of boo to a goose) 13. Card shark (instead of card sharp) 14. Butt naked (instead of buck naked) 15. Hunger pains (instead of hunger pangs) 16. Tongue and cheek (instead of tongue-in-cheek) 17. It’s a mute point (instead of moot point) 18. Pass mustard (instead of pass muster) 19. Just deserves (instead of just deserts) 20. Foe par (instead of faux pas) 21. Social leopard (instead of social leper) 22. Biting my time (instead of biding my time) 23. Curled up in the feeble position (instead of curled up in the foetal position) 24. Curve your enthusiasm (instead of curb your enthusiasm) 25. Heimlich remover (instead of Heimlich manoeuvre) 26. Ex-patriot (instead of expatriate) 27. Extract revenge (instead of exact revenge) 28. Self -depreciating (instead of self-deprecating) 29. As dust fell (instead of as dusk fell) 30. Last stitch effort (instead of last ditch effort) Although I'm surprised not to see 'off your own back' (rather than bat) and 'glitters like gold' (rather than glisters) in there, I see / hear those loads.

Apparently they do, it's the 7th most common eggcorn according to google. The top 3 are: To be pacific (instead of to be specific) An escape goat (instead of a scapegoat) Damp squid (instead of damp squib)

Someone's got to ballance out the Whitley Mag / Mannorpark positivity tag team.
-
It's a bit concerning if a striker as back-up for Wilson wasn't already part of their plans.
-
But we've also seen how he can go missing in a relegation battle.
-
Allardyce made his own bed here, he signed players with a scattergun approac and squandered a decent start by not settling on first 11, which ended up sucking all confidence out of the team. His fate was 100% on him and deserved.

There are similar FFP rules for UEFA competitions as well.
-
Yes, but the principle is probably the same, it restricts competition in the same way, more blatantly with these new rules.
-
Yeah, this article I posted the other day concludes that FFP rules are probably doomed under competition law challenge unless they add in some kind of allowance for clubs to bridge the financial gap to the current top clubs, which the PL rules basically do the opposite of. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/17441056.2021.1935570

Separation from the state and (or to be more precise the definition of 'control' in the PL's rules) is completely different to this, the PL have basically written the definition of an 'associated party' so that it will definitely catch any other KSA owned businesses. This part in particular: "A Person is also associated with a Club if any of the following conditions apply: (b) The Person and the Club are directly or indirectly controlled, jointly controlled, or Materially Influenced by the same government, public or state-funded body or by the same party". I'm sure it is probably challengeable, but I doubt it would be on the basis that Ziegler suggests.

Transfer fees are amortised over the length of a player's contract rather than being shown in the accounts as a lump sum when the transfer is made. Looking at their accounts Everton will be hamstrung by FFP for a while yet.
-
Yeah, with this new interpretation of a foul they've basically created a new sport, a bastardised marriage of football and rugby.
-
But he was in a position to have pressured Cancelo, possibly nicked the ball off him with the keeper stranded or at least forced a corner. Their explanation seems to be misapplying the assessment of whether it is a sending off offence for denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity to whether it is a foul.
-
But he has absolutely no track record of being able to organise a defence with any team. I know a few Burnley fans and they are scathing of his ability to organise a team defensively.
-
"We conceded a poor second goal, there were some contentious moment, the Ryan Fraser incident was a baffling one and unsure how it is not a penalty. I am not too sure what happened with VAR and the referee, the goalkeeper wipes out Ryan and it is a stonewaller, a clear penalty."
-
A lot of those individual brain-dead moments have been from players who he has picked over better alternatives.
