Although we're the beneficiaries in this instance, is no one else worried about the Webster ruling in general? Since the original case, we're the first club to sign a player under the ruling, and I'm hoping this won't set a precedent for every club to start signing 'Webster players' as I think it will only be a bad thing for football - yet more power (and money) in the hands of the players and the agents? It's bad enough that we (as supporters) get robbed blind by the clubs as it is, let alone the idea that yet MORE of all of our hard-earned is going to line the pockets of the likes of Willie McKay and his ilk... -
Gareth Barry disciplined and not allowed to return to pre-season training with Villa after his NOTW interview having a go at MON: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/aston_villa/7450271.stm Gotta say, even though this has nothing to do with us, this has really annoyed me. Don't know why, but it has. Hope Barry ends up failing massively at Liverpool and that they drop out of the CL spots for next season.

That said, if they don't get it right this season, then the men at the top want hanging up by their balls. They must have spent well over 50million quid now in the last 12 months, starting with Jol's signings last summer. Then January signings, then getting Ramos there, and now big money signings this summer. Their spending is through the roof and like i say, if they don't get it right now then Levy et al want shooting. But they probably will. Guessing we'd be pretty happy if it was Mikey who made it rain on us.. Tired of reading posts of jealousy, whining about the Spurs' massive spending, naming them the new Leeds etc. when what we all really want is to be in the same situation. F***ing fantastic post. People need to stop getting sand in their vaginas about Spurs: there's no problem with them, they seem to be being run well and good luck to them. Instead of hating them for doing what we'd like to be doing at the moment, we should be using our energies to try and get Ashley and the management pushing us forward in the same manner.

They've comeback three times! How can you say that? After not making any effort in 90 mins to even try and win the match in this game. Hope Germany spank them. -

Can't believe you all want a side who don't try and win football matches to go through. -

Still hope Turkey lose on pens (they doubtless won't). Bunch of c*nts with no attacking intent - f*ck 'em. -

Would've been a crime if the Turks had won this game, tbf, they've been playing for penalties since the first minute. Ok, so Croatia have taken a long time to break them down, but at least they TRIED to win the game. Goodbye Turkey, you won't be missed by me. -

Croatian corners have stunk, hit the first man every time. EDIT - good move just there. -

Terrible miss. If Croatia had Eduardo I think they'd have enough to win this tournament. -

Quality play from Modric there. -
Ah, fair enough - thought it was a 'typical' [to this board, not you per se] post having a go at other clubs' targets just because we're not after them, rather than a considered debate about their footballing merits. No harm, no foul.

And yet if he was being linked to us we'd all be going mental about it and saying how we're so pleased that we're getting in some class to replace Milner(!) Have you seen him play? I haven't, so I can't say whether he'd be a good signing or not. If you have seen him, then by all means say he's sh*te if that's what you think - if not, then please stop the tedious tendency of this board to praise players we're linked with and slag off players linked with other clubs (usually Spurs) without ever having seen them play properly in either scenario. Are you taking this piss or what? Any player linked to us on this board is always either too good for us or complete s***. Yet if he ends up going to another club suddenly we've missed out on a good player No, my point was quite clear - you dismissed him out of hand (said they'd be better of with Carlos Santana) and I was saying that unless you've seen him play (I haven't, so I'm not commenting) then why are you saying he's rubbish? Who knows, he might be, but unless you've seen him play for at least a game or two then you look pretty foolish making a judgement on a player (be it positive or negative) on no other basis than he's signing for another club. Simple.

That net is lucky to still be attached to the goal frame: what a hit! -

Still think the first Dutch goal against Italy where they went from van Bronckhorst clearing off his own goal line to supplying the cross for Kuyt to knock down for Sneijder's finish was the best goal of the competition so far: real team goal, and one of the best counter-attacking goals I have ever seen. Despite being completely impartial and not caring about Holland or Italy, I was on my feet cheering when that goal went in, was just fantastic. -
That's kind of bullshit though, isn't it? The probability of going home, away, home, away, home, away, home is also 0.78% and no one would be drawing any conclusions from that. The probability is also the same for any other combination, so this 0.78% is very misleading. The 0.78% just means there's over a hundred possible combinations and all of them have a probability of 0.78%. Not much to draw from that, I think.

Utter fail. The first Dutch goal against Italy was far better. The Sneijder goal just scored against France was proper canny though. -

Nothing better in international football than seeing the French get beaten like the proverbial red-headed stepchild. -
If you deliberately missed out an "m" from your £8 and £15 figures: If there was supposed to be an "m" on the end of those two numbers:
