  1. I live in Swansea, and a fair few people actually want to give Britton the job full time, and he knows the club and "the Swansea way".

f*** off is there, or has there ever been, a "Swansea way" ffs.

f***ing sick of that term applying to any number of clubs.

The "Swansea Way" came in when we were in League One, Kenny Jackett was the manager who got us promoted from League Two and Martinez was his team Captain.

Martinez and Jackett had a falling out over the style of play, Martinez wanted the team to play possession football and Jackett preferred a more direct approach. Rumour had it that Martinez used to conduct extra training on maintaining possession, a number of players, including Britton bought into it. This led to a falling out between Martinez and Jackett and brought about Martinez leaving and ending up at Chester.

Later that season Jackett quit and Martinez was brought in, he lifted the club from mid table to just missing the play-off's, we needed to win the last game and we lost something like 6-4 against Blackpool, who went up through the play-off's that year.

The following year we played possession attacking football, something Martinez was good at but defending was not our highlight. It was something unusual in League One which is why it became known as the Swansea way and we won the League.

We maintained that way, each following manager added something, Sousa added a defence, Rogers combined it all and Laudrup gave us that bit a flair.

It stopped when Monk took over, the first year with Monk he continued what Laudrup started and we finished our best position in the Premier League. The next season he changed the way we played and basically the rot started there.

Guidolin should never have been sacked, Bo Bradley was a joke and Clement had his feet kicked from beneath him by the summer destruction of our attacking line-up.

We are where we are now and most expect relegation and the blame is being pointed generally in the direction of Huw Jenkins the Chairman.

  2. It's not patronising to think Swansea could struggle, like. Been a decent start but they only just stayed up, before selling Sigurdsson and Llorente.

Absolutely, anyone outside the top 7 could

  3. 'Only Swansea' how often do I hear that, we don't have the best players in the Country, nor does anyone else outside of the top 6-7 teams.

We have a decent team who suffered last season due to an incompetent appointment as manager due to sentiment rather than logic. Clement's record last season if stretched over the season wold have seen us comfortably top half.

Clement is a very good coach, so don't count chickens.

There seems to be a lot of confidence in Rafa making a silk purse out of a cows ear, come on, really.

Rafa's a very good manager, Newcastle should be challenging for Champions League every year, but you don't and you won't be this year either. While there is no investment you guys will struggle, just like the rest of us.

I do love it when we are disregarded every season though, because we're only Swansea.

  4. The way Rafa sets us up suits away games and now the lads have a bit of confidence, I expect us to win.

We won't be easy to beat and Shelvey shouldn't walk back into the side. Teach him the ultimate lesson.

Shelvey also might be a little too motivated to play in front of Swansea's fans to prove a point. Could be a bit of a risk in terms of him having one of his moments again.

When he played his first game against Liverpool for us, he score one for them, one for us and got sent off :)

  5. While we played very well against West Ham, they were a shambles, still had to get the job done mind. This lot are well organised (last half hour against Man Utd aside) and will be a real good test.

That last half hour, 3 goal in 5 minutes wasn't it.

We did well playing 5 at the back, that last minute first half goal killed us, we changed it to chase the game and took a central defender off. Then bang.

Did well defensively against the Saints and Palace, but Palace is nothing to gauge against.

  6. If Swansea done get some quality in they'll be in trouble. If Llorente and Abraham can stay fit they'll have fret but they will need bags of creativity added to the team.

Thankfully I think they will struggle.

    Thankfully, I disagree.

Always happy to see people put us down. We are lacking players, we had a weak bench today as seen by the subs, the players who went off made the difference and left us open to the quick attacks.

As long as supporters of other team say we're rubbish and their managers believe, we'll do fine.

  7. Swansea seem to love re-signing players they used to have

I can only think of Britton, Siggy and Carroll in recent years. Two of them was after loan spells.

The papers link us to ex-players all the time, or players linked in the past

    As I said, lazy journalism.

  8. Most talk has been on 3 players, Chadli, Bony and Allen.

Seems more lazy journalism to me. Often an unexpected player suddenly signs.

Apparently the Siggy fee was agreed over 2 weeks ago, the method of payment was what hung up the transfer. You'd have thought we had signings lined up ready.
