  1. Well if this run of results continues and the football continues to gradually improve (we're scoring goals at least), then we're likely to finish in the CL spots at this rate. Since the genius of Al Pards has turned it around, we know he can do it. CL next season or sackalpards.com

Wullie hit the nail on the head with probably the best post of the past few pages. The press have hushed on the bollocks they were coming out saying his hands were tied with rubbish players now that we're winning. The "manager" deserves credit for keeping Gouffran and Williamson out of the side and shifting to 433, but that's about all I can give him credit for at the moment. Carry on this way (with improvement) to the end of the season and I might start to think he's woken up.

  2. Were we any good? Wasn't able to watch the game.

Definitely our most complete performance of the season. 4-0 wouldn't have flattered us to be honest we were that much better than them without being great.

 we only had 3 shots on target

I meant in terms of how comfortable we were in comparison to the opposition. Sammy's shot and Ayoze's effort could have been a half inch lower and made it 4-0. West Brom were woeful. We were better than decent.

  3.  Brilliant today like. Pardew doesn't half luck out the cunt.

Coloccini on the right and Dummett on the left is by far my favorite CB pairing of our current lot.

  4. One of the main problems over the last two years has been the failure of the team to compress, leading to the huge distance between the back line and the forward line.

He's been unbelievably lucky that the changes he's accidentally made recently have addressed this issue. I say accidental, because I'm sure it's not something that has ever bothered him or he ever wanted to change. Having the players spread out over the pitch leads to his holy grail – the scrappy, broken up game. Of course, it also made our team woeful and ineffective. But anyway:

    (1) Taylor for Williamson. Williamson was so slow he'd try and stay very deep. On top of that, he'd never push up out of the box when we got possession at anything more than a narrow-eyed, resentful lurch. The back line moves out more quickly now and compresses the team.

    (2) Change of front players. Getting rid of the forwards /  forwards-as-wingers who tended to push as high up as possible the second we got the ball and remain static, and their replacement with real wingers and a forward who can link up (Perez). These players all start a lot deeper, so the front line has been pulled back compressing the team more. As a result, there's sometimes more than two players in camera shot when Newcastle have the ball at the moment!

Is the corner turned? No. He'll ride this streak out until it falls apart or he breaks it, learn nothing, and the 3-0s will start piling up again.

    Great post this

Since when did Qatar start wearing red? They've always worn a darker purplish color as per the pattern on their flag.

  6. I love him. Colback can f*** off back to the stadium of s****.

Even he played well today. Actually tried to effect the game for a change.

He seemed to be pressing very effectively today instead of just ambling around.

Too true. He was very effective in protecting our lead once we'd gone in front. He did very well at times to win back possession and keep us in their half. Aided largely by Sissoko and Abeid of course, but it cannot be denied Colback has had a very good game in all fairness.
