Dropped Mir with Eve at home??

He was subbed off at 70 mins last week. Went with Barkley as he had a lot more verve about him last weekend.

  3. @nufcfans: "Some of our players have worked a little bit harder than they should have, so we've got a couple of tired bodies." AP #NUFC

    Can't be real surely?

  4. Very sound post UV. Spurs model is a very good one, if it can be sustained and if it actually leads to success in the end.

It doesn't change the fact that pre-Ashley we were accumulating large debts at a rate we couldn't afford though. Neither of our recent regimes have really had the right approach. We are definitely more financially sustainable under Ashley mind, that's a fact. The problem is the price we pay in terms of progress on the pitch.

Spending some money on appointing a competent manager would be logical step to putting that right. Why he hasn't done it just beggars belief.

This is the crux of it.

  5. I think generally very happy with him till he threw his toys out the pram over finances. The style was decent, he looked to be trying to build things at a clubs that had been in the s***, and they achieved a fair bit relatively. But but that doesn't mean his football was always enjoyable. He was often conservative, not go for the win before securing a draw, dropping his wingers just to try to negate the other team, something he'd no doubt get hammered for on here.

Wouldn't want him near the club personally, but maybe I'm a little biased.

the point for me is balance, if you go all out attack every game and win enough then fine you'll get on like keegan did but to go all out defend and not win you'll fail like pardew does

one of my favourite ever CL games was ac milan vs. juventus which ended 0-0...it was a defensive masterclass from both teams but we're not even seeing defensive masterclasses...we're a f***ing shambles

Pardew is being s***, I know.

I just wouldn't expect Poyet to be great shakes in terms of having a go at teams (nor provide a Milan/Juve defensive masterclass for that matter).

Plus he whines. My God does he whine.

    /not bitter in the slightest.

I read a few threads on Poyet on some BHFC forum (sad cunt that I am), and I noticed mixed reviews as far the football he played is concerned. In the main, though, they all agreed that he gave them a footballing identity. A distinctive style of play. Some thought it was good entertaining football, and some thought it was tactically naive.

  6. is rooney leaving then froggy?

If the right bid comes in we'll accept. I honestly think we'd rather have an unhappy Rooney in the squad than sell him to Chelsea for under £35m. If it's not this window though it'll be the next. There's no way he's doing a u-turn this time.

Why? Moyes is under enough pressure already. Why add to it with a Rooney saga?

  7. I don't understand where people think this upgrade on Pardew will come from when it comes to Ashley appointments. He s*** all over Keegan and brought in JFK, he tried to salvage his near death with Shearer then s*** all over him for Hughton, he then s*** all over Hughton and brought in Pardew, probably a matter of time before he starts shitting again and JFK returns. His appointments have been woeful and generally downgraded.

And yet you're happy with them

    :dowie:

Aye i've been so happy with his previous appointments that i never want to see him appoint anyone again hence why i'll just stick with Pards thanks.

    He's the f***ing worst one man:D

Actually Shearer was but at least he did that with the right intentions.

Not only were the intentions different, but Shearer was a complete noob at management. Took a massive gamble and it failed. Pardew has been a below average knacker throughout his career.

  8. Williamson's not nearly as good as Taylor.

There's more chance that he'll actually challenge Carroll in the air that Taylor so that's a bonus.

Ah, yes. Williamson who got beaten in the air by N'Zogbia and Moses.

At least he was there challenging rather than running backwards trying to save the ball with his hands.

 Actually come to think of it, Taylor backs off as much as, if not more than, Simpson did.

  9. If it's from the Times it's probably from Caulkin. And if it's from Caulkin it's probably true.

Yeah but is it speculation on his part based on MA's spending history? Has a decision been taken by the powers that be in advance that the money will not be spent entirely, and someone's leaked this info to Caulkin? I reckon it's the former.

  10. Sorry like but whoever wrote that article has no information to back up their claim whatsoever.

Whilst that's true our nett spend over Ashley's reign is negative by around 4.5 million per season, so it's not a huge leap of faith to assume whatever we fetch will not be completely reinvested in the squad. I for one would be gobsmacked if it was.

You're right. But the writer states it as if he's had some kind of insight or a morsel of ITK info. If so, he should back it up or shut the f*** up.

The writer states that the Times are reporting it. I haven't read the Times, so I don't know if this is true, but if so, that would represent a fairly reliable source I would have said.

Ah cheers. Missed that bit

  12.

Needs to play the Diaby/Diame/Yaya role, basically, as a driving force from central midfield. This is what I assumed he was bought for in the first place.

If we're going to go down the 4-4-2 route it could work, if we play a version similar to the one City now use in particular.

He needs to reduce the frequency of his bursts, though, and play a more tactically astute game overall. It will come.

 easy to forget that he's still relatively young as well.
