  1. The point is that he gave the ref a decision to make, whether it was a pen or not is debatable but it was stupid from an experienced defender.

Never a red card but again it has split opinion  All Collocini's fault.

Every single 50-50 where two opposing players meet at some point will give the ref a decision to make! That decision is foul or no foul, believe it or not. If he had just left him and Elliot hadn't got there in time, we would be sitting here saying how stupid he was for not making an attempt. With all of Coloccini's faults and serious degradation in ability, this was a very simple decision for the ref to call.

  2. Think my priority for January is a centreback. Haven't seen that much of him, but from what I have seen and heard, think we slipped-up not going for Jonny Evans. Of those likely to be available, any ideas who may be a good partner for Mbemba?

Virgin Van Dijk is another we missed out on. Seems to be doing very well for Southampton. On paper, someone like Shawcross would be ideal.

  3. the funny thing was he was about to challenge a big lad like fletcher on the run, the ideal thing would have been from him to physically ease him out of the situation and/or put him off enough with his presence so f*** up fletchers chance

had he tried that and fletcher scored everyone would have crucified him for being weak and physically not up to the league

fletcher went down very easily for a player his size, is kind of what i'm trying to say

Looking at both their trajectories, Fletcher moves towards Coloccini and not after the ball. His momentum when he crashes into Colo helps him fly off and pretend to be pushed. There was clearly no arm or leg sticking out to impede Fletcher's movement. Non-incident. End of.

  4. That's rubbish like, almost everyone on here detests Ashley and a good proportion stopped giving him money years ago. Doesn't mean you can't comment the football has been a bit better this year and stand by the idea we're well shot of Pardew at least.

Love it when sense comes along to sweep up the meaningless anger. HTT's post was spot on, but saying that having hope that things will get better contributes to our demise is just utter nonsense.

  5. I didn't necessarily mean this season.

Players don't change their style completely by accident though, McClaren is clearly trying to improve the football we're playing.

Maybe right mate, personally I think the pace going forward etc, on the counter attack has happened ad hoc mid game.

Boro supporting mate of mine has been screaming that he is a negative coach at me for ages.

Maybe I am being harsh, just don't see him inspiring improvement at all.

f*** I just want us to use our current assets better...and invest...

Maybe he was negative at Boro, but that ended 10 years ago. Why is it unfathomable that a manager can learn and change his style with time or experience? I'm probably just being pedantic here, but just because he was that way with Boro 10 years ago doesn't mean he can't be trying to create an efficient attacking side here.

  6. It's Schteve McLaren ffs.  Sacked by championship club Derby.

There were a multitude of better options and we went for the cheap mate of the head scout.  I can't remember anyone piping up and saying 'another one from the old boys merry go round would be mint' when Pardew walked.  He wasn't good enough then, he's not good enough now.

He may not be good enough I agree, but he's certainly not one of the old boys merry go round. He's totally different to the usual suspects. At least he had the bollocks to manage abroad to gain experience and try to better himself. This for me is his one redeeming feature. He wasn't content to sit in a tv studio grovelling for a job the way Allardyce, Pulis, Curbishly etc do. It might never work for him at NUFC, but out of this group of charlatans he was the best choice by some distance (discounting Moyes).

We should have taken the plunge with Vieira. It might have failed (it's failing anyway) but it would have freshened things up and showed that the club was prepared to go in a different direction after Pardew and Carver and would have had the fans onside right from the start. Don't know of a single supporter who was excited about McClaren being appointed and I doubt the players were either. Sadly with 2 dinosaurs and penfold making all the executive decisions McClaren is exactly the sort of manager we'll continue to employ.

  7. Does our manager have the balls to buy a new partner for Mbemba in January? Colo needs to be on the bench and slowly zoned out of the club. There's always a warm seat for him in San Lorenzo.

Well, I'd rather he benched Coloccini for Dummett for starters. Big managers have no problems putting out the best teams. Starting Colo is currently counter-productive in most league games, and a chance should be given to someone else.

  9. It's never ever a foul - I can't believe people think it was?! He was playing really well until it happened - joke of a decision!

Yup. In slow motion you can even see Fletcher leaning into Coloccini first, and just bounces off him and falls over like the soft s**** he is. In that specific angle Coloccini makes no "charge" towards the bearded fanny, and simply stays his course to protect the ball into the hands of Elliott.

  10. Probably the most pointless thread on the entire forum this. I think he's well, well past it, that he's a s*** captain and it was ridiculous to give him a contract, but having said that, slow, stupid or whatever...it wasn't a penalty or a red card and any other 'yeah but he gave the referee a decision because he didn't get there first' is irrelevant. Yes, we all know what everyone's opinions of him on here are and so on, but using a s*** refereeing decision against him on such tenuous grounds is nothing more than people trying to strengthen their agenda imo.

    What is this? Sense?

  11. Mark Halsey on Bein Sports said he didn't think it was a pen and that no-one would've batted an eyelid if play had just been waved on. He did try and defend the ref a little by saying it looked worse from his angle.

Of course it wasn't a penalty. Only Andy Gray the contrarian gorilla was advocating cheating as per usual. Both Bellamy and Yorke in the studio thought it was daylight robbery. Even Keys who normally hates us said he didn't think it was.

  12. Hope we'll see Dummett and Mbemba at CB together, think they might compliment each other well.

Tell Colo to f*** off home to San Lorenzo so he can suck off Aragorn.

At this time, Dummett + Mbemba is our best CB pair on paper. Unfortunately Colo's ban won't be long enough to see them together for a run of games. He'll take his place back no problems.

  13. Well, that's not really the point. The teams around us have seen they're in trouble and have done something to remedy it. We won't. We'll just keep slipping.

By that logic, you would be happy to see us sack McClaren and appoint Curbishly to be seen as "doing something"?

Happy? We're discussing the prospect of us going down or staying up, there's not a single hint of 'happy'.

Would Curbishley keep us up? No, he wouldn't. Allardyce will keep them up. Silly example.

Fine. Sack SMC for Di Canio? Poyet? Advocaat?

Well you're even thicker than I thought. Congrats. Enjoy your morning.

 You know exactly the point I'm getting at. If we sack McClaren to get another vanilla manager of the same ilk, then it would be much of a muchness. The "Ronaldo brand" and insults don't get to me, as I've been here far too long to bite. So you can save it next time or just not bother replying seeing as having a genuine debate isn't your forte.
