This WC is slowly turning into the year Messi single handedly drags an unimpressive side to glory - exactly what the doubters claimed he had to do to truly be among the best ever.

Recurring theme this WC is how close the games are. So many 2nd round games going to extra time or decided late. Good to see.

Belgium may have got 9/9 points in their group but they don't look like an especially strong team as such.
