Goalkeepers: Steve Harper, Tim Krul, Fraser Foster
Right Back: Danny Simpson, Ryan Taylor, Steven Taylor
Centre Halves: Fabricio Coloccini, Mike Williamson, Steven Taylor, Tamas Kadar,
Left Back: Jose Enrique (M'Bengue), Shane Ferguson
Right Midfield/Right Wing: Gervinho, Joey Barton, Ryan Taylor, Dan Gosling
Centre Midfield: Cheik Tiote, Younis Cabaye, Joey Barton, Kevin Nolan, Danny Guthrie, Alan Smith, Mohamed Abeid, Dan Gosling
Left Midfield: Jonas Guitierrez, Hatem Ben Arfa, Shane Ferguson
Attacking Midfield: Kevin Nolan, Hatem Ben Arfa, Haris Vuckic
Strikers: Leon Best, Shola Ameobi, Nile Ranger
So we need
. a new left back (M'Bengue?)
. a versatile left sided player (N'zogbia, Hoilett)
. 2 strikers ( Bentdner & Sturridge)
OUT: Ryan Taylor, Peter Lovenkrands, Alan Smith (swansea can have him for free) , Nile Ranger (LOAN),
Younis Cabaye? Mohamad Abeid?
-
I would be well chuffed with Cabaye and 2 from Gervinho/Gameiro/N'Zogbia and a few cheap or freebies to fill the squad
-
Yep, I just hope they don't classify Carlton Cole the next level after Gervinho/Gameiro
-
Ferguson will not get a wink of sleep tonight for cursing the decision to play Valencia who simply had an appalling evening.
That wasn't the issue at all. The real issue was starting Hernandes ahead of Nani (like ive been saying for weeks tbf). Wing play is the only way you have some sort of chance against Barca and Nani would have caused them problems from the start (he caused them problems when he came on). Hernandes was totally annonymous.
Fletcher should have also started ahead of Giggs too but that wasn't as big a issue.
Did he?

Karl Henry is shit

Get in - loved seeing that
Was so one sided it was comical
-
Bardsley better than Enrique

Tbf - I've people post transfer suggestions just as comparatively stupid on here.
Really? I havnt read anything as mental as that - then again I havnt read every single post in the realistic targets thread
-
Class - I love how he suggests Sturridge will be a backup to Gyan and Gameiro
-
Likeable guy and runs around a lot BUT he just isn't good enough
Would be worried if he is near the first team come the start of next season
-
I agree it is not an urgent priority BUT we can certainly do better
I like Simpson and do think he has improved a lot, also did better than expected BUT he is somewhat limited, certainly going forward and defensively he backs off far too much
-
I've said for a long time now he's garbage and he's starting to prove it week in week out. f***ing Ryan Taylors better at rb.
Ryan Taylor is shit, Simpson is comfortably better than him
-
Happy enough overall but handing the Mackems the bragging rights has really took the shine off it for me. It was all self-inflicted which makes it worse.
I think 5-1 ensures we still retain the bragging rights
-
I was admittedly watching 4 games at once today, but Simpson's defending recently has become very concerning after looking distinctly solid after displacing Perch in the side.
He backs off way too much, has been doing it all season
-
It has been a brilliant season, a sour end BUT overall there have been more positives than negatives
Would have been nice to finish ahead of the Mackems BUT it isn't the be all and end all
-
The last 30 mins were horrible, we got way too relaxed - still it has been a good season so I won't let this get me too down
-
He's a good player tbf
He is BUT he suddenly becomes world class when playing us
-
He doesn't really pose more of a threat in terms of goalscoring though does he, he's scored 1 more goal this season in more games. Messi offers the same goalthreat but assists more, creates more and is a more influential player from deep aswell as further up the field. He's also not a p*ss poor headerer of the ball.
Ronaldo's a brilliant player but a large part of his success is accountable to his physique, power and practiced technique. He obliterates teams on his day but can be strangled in the big games easier and more frequently than Messi is. The allround natural game is usually what separates the true greats apart.
What do you mean 1 more goal? Before yesterday's brace, he's ahead by 7 goals in La Liga (38 vs 31).How may headers have Messi scored and compare that with Ronaldo, the numbers speak for themselves man.
Put it this way, if money was no objection and I could get either Messi or Ronaldo. If I was Guardiola managing Barcelona, I'd take Messi hands down, he fits into Barcelona like hands to glove. But if I was any other manager and I was looking for a player to individually improve my team immediately (with say other midfielders being above average), then I'd go with Ronaldo hands down. Messi relies on the team playing in a certain way to excel (and of course when that happens, he is the best), whereas Ronaldo will be more influential in an average team due to his "physique, power and practiced technique"
Clearly not as shown in the matches between the 2 sides when Ronaldo did fuck all because his team was more concerned with sitting back and kicking the shit out of the Barca players
As for 1 more goal, he was talking about overall - and you want to talk about headers (not really sure why) what about assists?

so he isnt going to be here for the lap of honour?
Where's it say that? Considering he was at SJP yesterday I'd have thought he'd stuck about for Sunday before going back off for the summer.
I am basing it on the Pardew comments in the journal article
The United manager said: “He’s back at Clairefontaine, it looks like he’s got a busy summer ahead of him. We can only hope he’s going to come back the same player. It’s a tough injury he had, so we can only wait.”Though I guess it depends when Pardew made these comments
I hope he is there

-
Braga should have scored
-
the slight difference is that we are basing our idea of the player on what he has shown throughout his career as opposed to the last 3 games.Turn the tables and say Ben Arfa went to Sunderland (I know, I know
) and the same events transpired. With one wonder goal under his belt and, what, 3 and a half games, if Sunderland fans were raving about him as much as Newcastle fans do - for whatever reasons - are you telling me there wouldn't be some pisstaking? From the outside looking in you can easily question why Newcastle fans seem to think he'll be so amazing.
And I'm not saying I don't think he's shown moments of class already in this league, but it's still very, very early days with him.
Yes, but again playing devil's advocate, given his rather bitter departures from his previous 2 clubs I can see why some outside NUFC wouldn't be fully convinced on him. How many are genuinely basing their opinion of him on what he did for Lyon and Marseille?
I think a lot are basing it on what he did before joining us, why else was this place about to explode when we were linked with him and then eventually signed him?

When does his contract run out?
June 2012 according nufc.com

If it is true then why on earth did we give him 5.5 year contract
He needs to be sent out on loan really
