I think Ashley tried to have passion at one point, you think back to him turning up in our shirts & standing with the crowd. He brought his family & kids to games, to imagine him doing that now is nuts. He's always made pretty poor decisions, bringing in wise etc but i think at that point he did atleast want us to be successful. The whole selling the club debacle is where he changed his ideas i reckon. This was part of his statement at the time: Can you imagine any man making that statement and then caring about the fans wishes or how their club does? Then: Its not a massive mystery is it.

Really? Read what Pardew says around any transfer window. You dont sell a house when theres a flood in your street, if you walk around beforehand saying "oh yer id totally sell my house, i cant afford not to if someone offered close to its value" that suggests slight evidence you'd sell like. Just maybe on a nicer day.

Id not look much into Cabaye not going, Ashley just thinks he can get more. You dont sell an asset below value if you think its about to go up. His problem is we've only realised some of their potential over one season & other clubs need more than that a lot of the time, the ones with money anyway before the big bids come in. We've had enough press releases of: We're so vunerable, everyones available at the right price but it must be big, hopefully there wont be interest in xyz because hes really really great and we want to keep him, please dont try to sign this guy big clubs. We market our players like no one else man.

The thing is he has to have a level of ambition for our performances even if his only priority is profit. One of his obvious tactics has been buying players on the cheap to sell on for big amounts & he wont get big amounts if we perform as a side that finishes in the lower half. He needs us to play as a side that has stand out performers, so he also needs our manager to get us playing like that. So while he may not have ambitions to spend money so we're successful, he certainly will want us to be successful so he makes some money.

Odd post. Despite him starting Shola again, then having to fix his mistake 64 minutes in? Sure, I'm f***ing chuffed and we did play well but I'm not sure this excuses him for the utter turd he's been dishing up. Sure its been bad, but today offered a glimmer of hope that we can play as an actual football team under him. Passing and stuff. I expected more posts of "do that more often you tit" etc.

In seriousness, we played it out from the back all day today & linked it well in midfield constantly. You cant slate him when we play it long and then ignore any beneficial change in style of play placing the improvement purely at different players playing. It was both.

Odd timing for these kind of posts like, he did well today. We played it around well.

Cabaye wasnt better than Anita like, he took a decent corner & did some decent passing. Remy & Gouffran as extra options changed the game for us.

I thought we looked very much like a team up until we got around their area and the play got congested. Anita & Sissoko linked well with the defence/wide players, it was making it stick upfront.

One of our best players recently. Was very very good today, liking him a lot now.
