Newcastle United v West Ham United - 11/11/12 @ 3pm
Jayson replied to EthiGeordie's topic in Football
Wonder if thats 4-3-3 or Fergie left wing & 4-4-2. Look forward to seeing him play. -
Eh? They drew with Man City & only lost to Man Utd after going down to 10 & conceding a dodgy penalty. They outplayed both for large periods also, theyre not winning loads but their performances havent been as bad as made out at home atall.
-
We defo allowed them to press us, we did similar to Rodgers Swansea though & countered similarly. It was a proven gameplan.
-
Had the odd good moment, less so than earlier in the season though. Not in his top form atm, think he couldve done better with that counter when he decided to cut inside two players rather than pass to Cisse/shoot first time.
-
Can understand the gameplan, we have the lead so make it hard for them to score & counter. Our countering was poor though & unfortunately Suarez has pulled out a moment of top skill. Do wonder how it would've played out if we'd kept pushing, Anita was helping us link well in midfield. Need new ideas again now, more players shifting about with injuries & suspensions.
-
Top performance, his block on Sterlings shot summed him up. Got everywhere, need him in that form.
-
Ive no idea what people who think that red was even slightly debatable are seeing. Colo's still looking at suarez leg when the balls 4 seconds past him.
-
Well decent result for us, took a pretty class goal for them to score. Still thats Colo, Tiote, Cabaye & Ba now we're having issues with.
-
Completely ridiculous from Colo, clearly intended to hurt him. Stupid stuff.
-
Depends who you give the benefit of the doubt to, some give it to Pardew also. Tiotes absense > Cabayes game > Cisse's game + def injuries = our season & their form. Could in part be as simple as that. Doubt its a coincidence Cabaye got in an advanced scoring position for once with Tiote behind him. We'd all agree on needing to improve.

History suggests that finishing 5th isn't going to happen again as his best finish before last season was 9th so I don't think looking at history does him any favours. What Shearer did as a player has absolutely no bearing on what Pardew will do as a manager in the future and I was never bothered about Shearer playing for England. Also, it was mentioned that we have changed managers far too many times in the past and that’s right. The flip side of that is that we’ve appointed too many poor choices in the past and that’s why they’ve gone. Stability doesn’t create a good manager, a good manager creates stability. I’m not writing Pardew off as it would be mad to do so, I do have reservations about him and it’s up to him to change that and he’ll only doing it by performing at an acceptable level. The point was to give you an example of losing faith in something that has proven its ability previously. History should ofcourse be considered. I seriously question your claim that a good manager creates stability, i wish it were that way. There are far to many variables though that can easily affect a sides form. The context of a season will throw up new challenges, he may not have the answers for all of them. That doesnt mean hes become a lesser manager. Moyes name is being thrown around now as a strong example of a good manager & his side is best known for having the two most inconsistant periods of form over a season to the point that people are actually surprised his side has actually started well for once. Wenger has been doubted massively, Mancini was, the guy who won the last Champions league was sacked from his previous job. I dont think stability exists much in football atall. We had our best season in yonks with this guy, the players love him & hes working under a difficult board. I agree that yeah, we shouldnt be writing him off.

Finishing 5th last season has gone, he can only live off that for so long and I don't watch us playing s*** football and think about last season. After a s*** game I think about what I've just watched and what we've done poorly. If we play well I don't think about a game in which we've been s***, I think about what we've done well and this season it's been more of the former. As for his thought pattern in to why he sometimes spouts s***, I'm not that bothered but will comment about it. I'm more bothered about why he comes out with it. We've got a game on Sunday and his feelings about Ashley will have no bearing on either the way we play or the result we get. Going back to last season, it was great to finish 5th but that has gone. Keeping him here based on that season alone is pointless and he should only remain here for as long as he can meet the goals which others set for him and if he fails to meet my goals for him then I'll say so. I don’t keep my job because I performed well last year, I keep it because of what I do now and it’s got to be the same for anybody in any job. So summing that up Mick, essentially an entire seasons worth of solid results has earnt 0 extra faith in Pardews ability as a manager for you compared to any other manager. As you ignore history when judging someones potential to achieve. Assume you'd given up on Shearers England career pre Euro 96 then.

What is this s***? Can you not construct a point or make a legitimate argument? All you have done (and constantly do) here is reduce ample legitimate reasoning to a few sarcasm ridden words. BenArfa praised Pardew? So? What is your point? people say he has been lucky? so, what is your point? people say he has been lucky this year? so, what is your point? are you trying to say we were not lucky against WBA for example? Try and put some thought and perhaps even some content into your posts because you really should win an award for posting the most words without actually saying anything. Feel like I am copying you but what a s*** post. Pardew got relentless s*** for his treatment of Ben Arfa, then Ben Arfa praises him for it and his workrate improves which is really beneficial = Pardew f***ing up? He has been lucky for one season and 9 games = this actually equals luck? Jesus. I point out the fallacy of your 'reasoning' and you proceed to commit the same fallacy (twice) in the responding post. You are like a parody of yourself. Jimmies status: Russled i guess I'll leave it at that. You absolutely slated Pardews way of handling Ben Arfa last season, along with generally slating him wherever possible. Ben Arfa specifically comes out praising the manager for much of the things you slated him for and your reaction is "BenArfa praised Pardew? So? What is your point?" Ive no idea how you take yourself seriously, let alone talk from that perch you've put yourself on.

Wengers reaction there

Fair play to them

spot on imo. hard to believe its true though. results is not enough to keep us and especially players happy. our best players cant be happy if this anti-football continues. Formation & resulting style of play is obviously up in the air, the rest seems pretty clear really. If Ba's out id fully expect us to go back to 4-3-3.
-
Would definately take him back, if hes the one who motivated the move perhaps he'd be happy to rejoin.

That vid "Late goals dont worry clark" from 2 days ago. Unlucky.
