Has Cassano been mentioned btw? He was the first player that came to mind when I saw this thread. EDIT: Previous page, doh.

Yeah, born in Denmark though. Man City's current 3rd keeper Gunnar Nielsen is Faroese.

I could be a full international for the Faroe Islands. No you couldn't. Ok, I would need a fake passport. As well as some Footballing ability. Faroe Islands is less populated than the neighborhood I grew in, and I probably was the best goalie in my neighborhood (my team won the local championship twice). Not an exageration of my footballing qualities, it's just a very small pond. But hope he turns out to be the one-in-a-million talent that place produces. Massimo Bonini was from San Marino, and he was a key player for Juventus winning Serie A, European Cup etc. So it can happen I guess. tbf San Marino isn't a small island populated with sheep in the middle of the ocean, though. True

Don't really know, but a quick Wiki search shows quite a few of them end up playing in Denmark. Makes sense when you consider Faroe Islands is a Danish constituent territory.

Yeah he's been playing quite well for Braga this season, who I believe are still top in Portugal.

We had 2 Faroese on trial didn't we? I think 1 had been released by another club's youth team though, while this guy has came straight from Faroese football. Meh it's a punt with next to no risk involved - will probably just disappear in a couple of years, but then maybe not. http://www.national-football-teams.com/v2/player.php?id=35046

Just give it to our best player, Rooney. The role of captain is purely an ambassadorial position in football anyway - an on form, fired up Rooney leading the team out as captain could set fear into the opposition. France did a similar thing with Platini. (Not that it got them anywhere like )

Eboue is literally the stupidest footballer I've ever seen.

vuckic started making his way towards the squad and has been injured since. In the couple of games he played our midfield got pretty much over run IIRC. Don't know if that was him or other younger midfielders like Guthrie and Lua Lua. Having a bunch of kids in defence probably didn't help either tbf. only started one first team game hasn't he.....posh in the league cup in a stiffs side. I think he started one and came on as a sub in another. My impression of him was that he looked great going forward, not so good tracking back. thats why he's not really a central midfielder. more of a play off a centre forward in the hole type. Well there's room for one of those in the team as well. Nolan's been impersonating that role and if his half-arsed efforts are worth a first team shirt why not Vukic? He'd have probably have been given a chance, but like said he's been injured for ages now. Was meant to be nearing a return soon, he's been out since just after that Posh game I believe. I was at that P'boro game and he had a horrible time of it, looked overawed by the whole thing. It didn't help that the team was a mish mash of backups and reserves, with players out of position everywhere. Not really the best game for a youngster to be judged on, but even less so a player of his ilk (ie the arcehtypal #10, allergic to defensive duties).

Funny how people want Switzerland, yet they're the only team out of that pot to have gone to the last 4 major Championships. I'd rather have teams that don't have a knack of making it to finals. Not that it'll make a difference anyway, with Capello I couldn't imagine us even remotely fucking it up.

West Ham have gone from having no fit strikers, to getting Cole back and signing 3 more on deadline day
-
I'd have taken Scott McDonald over Leon Best tbh. Celtic have had one hell of a busy January haven't they.
-
Marcelo Martins on loan to Wigan witha view to permanent deal. He was a very promising player not long ago, could end up being another Palacios/Valencia type signing for Wigan. Looks like that Mariga who got work permit rejection is going to Inter instead.

This is the Best thread, I've ever been in, dududu dududu

Very, very underwhelming this. I'm willing to give the lad a chance, but still.. -
Might have been playing as a winger for part of it? He writes a daily blog about his time over in Turkey, seemed pretty disturbed at the sacrificing of a goat on the training pitch a while back http://www.vassell.net/Darius/Blog/Blog.html It's actually a pretty depressing read altogether. He complains about being isolated in his hotel room, missing his family, the bad food, losing games every week, not being able to get a grasp of the language. It's even quite poetic at times, although I can't bring myself to feel sorry for him when his bank account is just being nicely topped up every week.

Funny, Sapara is the kind of player I'd have liked to have seen us sign.
-
It was so fucking obvious how much better we'd look with 2 natural wingers on the pitch and two upfront. How come it took him till the last 15 minutes for him to make the change? Should have been done at half time and we'd have won this game. Grow a pair Hughton ffs

8 Spaniards in the Madrid XI, surely that's the most in a long time?
-
The ones I did are from league games. I got thinking because your list has Duff with 1 assist. But he crossed for Carroll at Stoke and at home to West Ham, so I thought I'd look into it. Hmm yeah maybe you're right there actually. I remember Duff's cross at Stoke taking a chunky deflection though, so maybe there's a bit of a grey area when deciding an assist.

Jonas definitely only got 3. I'm gonna back up the stats I posted and say they're about as accurate as you can get - you can always trust Americans with their sports stats. If you go on the site they're posted on they show everything in huge detail, shots taken by individual players etc. Not more than Guthrie tbf. Thought I'd pull it up, aye, here's our top assisters in the League last year: Geremi 3 Jonás Gutiérrez 3 Danny Guthrie 3 Mark Viduka 2 Kevin Nolan 2 Obafemi Martins 2 Jose Enrique 2 Claudio Cacapa 1 Damien Duff 1 Nicky Butt 1 Shola Ameobi 1 Ryan Taylor 1 Steven Taylor 1 Habib Beye 1 Joey Barton 1 Charles N'Zogbia 1 David Edgar 1 These are the true figures. They are horrific but they tell the story of a horrific season.
-
The ones I posted are from just league games. They're from ESPN who are usually spot on with their stats, they have game by game logs and s*** tallying up assists etc. I'm pretty confident in their accuracy, as bleak as they look.
-
Of course
-
Probably the reason why we're open to making these signings. Good stuff.
-
Cacapa got his assist when we played that Cacapa - Butt midfield axis against West Ham. Maybe we were on to something
