  1. Agger has the galvanising Coloccini effect to it. They better hope his injury problems don't crop up again.
  2. Unit functions well in spite of him not because he's part of it IMO.

Isn't the wage situation dictated more by other revenue streams (ie TV money) than it is by matchday tickets, though?

Didn't even think of it like that. Fair point.
  5. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2012/01/16/2850285/manchester-united-chelsea-and-tottenham-all-keen-on This and many other sites don't appear to even mention our name in the same quotes.
  6. The individual doesn't matter. It's a superb defence which fortunately isn't emulated by the midfield and attack. Of course it does. Johnson still gets caught out defensively all the time. That game where he unbelievable got motm for scoring the winning goal he was absolutely all over the place all game. edit: Chelsea
  7. I thought he looked good and like I think madras has said in the right system would be a very classy player. Shame he's seemingly a crock.
  8. Maybe Downing, Carroll, Adam etc are simply average players? I've always thought Downing and Adam were and Carroll is certainly smashing my previous assesment of him right now.
  9. CB's have formed a good partnership this season. Johnson is still utter wank.

Dunno like. Personally I feel more comfortable paying more for a lower league game than I do a Prem match where there's plenty money floating about anyway.

Indeed but like I said, if they thought enough people were going to turn up, there's every incentive to lower the price given the size of the ground. That looks about standard price for that division btw which is a scandal in itself, no wonder clubs are going out of business left, right and centre. Do you think the standard of players should dictate a higher or lower price for tickets? Not something I've always agreed with personally. Going to a football game for me is largely an emotional investment rather than an entertainment one, so I don't think price should change depending on the standard of football.
  12. Fuck's sake, add an extra fullback and striker option into the mix.
  13. Harsh on Carroll IMO. . He could be a success there if they just played to his strengths. Ridiculous to think that Chelsea and Liverpool have both spunked so much wedge on strikers and then completely ignore them when setting up their teams and tactics. They haven't really ignored the team and tactics though. They bought Downing because he was supposed to be crossing the ball onto his head and Adam for his set pieces. Fact of the matter is Carroll simply isn't playing well at all. You can put crosses into the box all day long but the striker has to be anticipating the ball. Carroll hasn't been doing it at all, he doesn't gamble or try to get into the right areas. Even when he does get to the ball he fluffs the headers, which is one thing I always said when he was here - he's not actually got a fantastic heading technique considering his strength aerially. He's getting bullied by just about every CB in the league. He's not even working hard FFS, and if he's not doing that then he may as well pack it in now because it's not like he's got the natural technique, pace or intelligence to play his way into games. It's a train of thought to say that Liverpool aren't playing to his strengths enough and this excuses Carroll, but I don't buy it at all. In fact I think they are trying to but he's simply playing terribly for whatever reason.
  14. That's basically the team they've been playing this season and they're 7th. Nowt to do with playing well together, infact I think they have been, they're just not that good.
  15. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2087547/Tottenham-Chelsea-Manchester-United-want-Michel-Vorm.html Quotes from Swansea director in the article saying that we have enquired about Vorm. Worrying.
  16. need brains for those runs more than pace. a midfielder making runs would be a help aswell. Yep.
  17. He needs a forward in the side with decent pace willing to make runs in behind.
  18. FWIW I have no doubt we're interested, but I can't see us agreeing on a fee any time soon. I wish we'd get a backup CB and a striker first and foremost, as much as I'd love two excellent full-backs losing either CB would kill us.
  19. Sounds to me like guys on the TV channel were talking about the previous (since reported as innacurate, but they are unaware) story of him supposedly going for a medical today (thus putting it into the present tense) and now it's generated a few naff articles.
  20. Bit harsh Sewelly, I just found an article confirming nuts source More like an article regurgitating his original source.
  21. We'd just finished 13th on 43 points. Last season we finished 12th on 46 points. This season should see a significant improvement on both fronts. Only took 6 managers, numerous different appointments at board/scouting level, a relegation, an attempted sale, endless national embarrassment, numerous PR disasters, pissing all over the club's tradition atleast twice and whole host of other utterly awful pieces of decision making to get there. Gerrin.
  22. Maybe we weren't the 7th biggest chance creator...
