Let the battle for 18th place commence. So excited.

we need a list, then that list putting in order of shitness oyston venky's ashley lerner short spring to mind off the top of my head All terrible and yet only one of those owner's clubs will be in a lower division than us next season.
-
Basically, there's a handful of owners worse than Ashley in English football, if that. And yet people are actually worried that a potential future owner could be harmful to the club.
-
Yeah, I've already mentioned him. Who else?

There's a real inferiority complex going on within our support judging by posts like this. Expectations have been smashed to bits over the last ten years. Says a lot that posts like this are being made, yet also concern over whether he'll take the bloody Everton job. I like the guy a lot but he is not some cast iron degree of success. No manager is in football. Why has this hypothetical poll got me going so much You'd be hard pressed to find another manager more likely to be successful with any given club than Rafa Benitez though, even with the whole fanbase against him, he delivered for Chelsea when asked to do so. A true pro and I agree that we'll never have a better manager, at least in my lifetime. Klopp maybe but that'd be 10 years down the road if at all. If Ashley sits in the back and gives Rafa the autonomy he gave the previous regimes then we get what we want - a club that tries, that is run well and there would be a chance for success. Ashley goes, and in walks in Massimo Cellino v2. It's a massive gamble, and a silent owner with Rafa Benitez running everything would be the best possible circumstance we could hope for. Voting A is just voting for revenge, which I understand, but take a step back from the 10 years of lies, s**** and comatose existence and realise what B would actually mean. Ashley is Cellino ffs. Like I said, can people name the owners in English football who are worse than Ashley? Then think of how many clubs there are. Ashley a silent owner as well? He might not pick the team but he restricts the revenue streams of the club, warns against progress in the cups, changes the name of the stadium, has been complicit in the events that led to two tribunals etc. etc. It's not like he's not involved in all the s*** stuff. You don't think Rafa would only manage this club with cast iron guarentees that he gets the control and the finances required to do so? He's almost said as much in interviews in the past few days, which negates most of the points you're making. As for Ashley being Cellino, there couldn't be more polar opposites in terms of chairmen meddling in day to day affairs of the club. They aren't exactly the same but they are both poison to their clubs. I'm still waiting for someone to list the owners worse than Ashley...

Mate, it's a hypothetical nonsense of a discussion. Everyone wants both Benitez to stay and Ashley to go. Leave the thread then. It's a hypothetical question to get people's views. You have to choose, you can't pick the option you suggest.

One person. If negotiations aren't progressing then Charnley should be sacked before they're even concluded. Tbf Ashley will be playing a bigger part than thumb head in this I mean Ashley is the one person though, if Rafa doesn't stay it should be everyone against Ashley. If Charnley fucks up, it's still Ashley's fault, the bloke shouldn't be in the job in the first place.

Says in the programme its a 'difficult' decision to make.

Regarding getting a worse owner, that some people have raised, which owners do people think would actually be worse for us? Oyston and...?
-
Rafa has come at one of our lowest points in recent history, why wouldn't we get a top manager in the future? He's one of the best and not many are better. The odds are against us getting better. What about a manager who is slightly below Rafa's level but who has a bigger transfer budget because the stadium isn't covered in SD adverts and the ground is full. Who also has an academy that has adequate funding and a training ground that is somewhere close to the standard of our rivals. Not to mention a proper non-footballing side of the board that actually replaces people who leave and an owner who's primary aim is to win trophies. Isn't most of that what Rafa is looking for? If he manages to get Ashley to rip down the SD adverts then fair play to him. Wake up man. Arsenal and Barcelona are sporting shirts branding Arab airline flights. Man city too probably. We got Ashley because he saw an opportunity to cash in on the low income market. We get Wonga instead. Wat? Arsenal - Fly Emirates Barcelona - Qatar Airways Man City - Etihad Airways I get that, I just don't know what you were getting at? That we should accept SD adverts or what?
-
I'm s*** at hypothetical questions and always have been, I hate them so don't usually answer them. Fair enough
-
I didn't say he wanted all of that, I said most. Anyway, one of the choices is hypothetical, the other is almost reality and a few weeks ago beyond most of our dreams so it's an easy choice for me. Both answers are part of the same question, of course it's hypothetical but because it's hypothetical we actually get to choose. It's not about what's realistic, it's about what you truly want.

If Rafa doesn't sign then everyone should be ready to riot. Whether it happens is another thing...

The damage Ashley has done to our club is fucking huge. Imagine even having a thread like this in the first place? Deciding whether to get rid of one the best managers of the world just to get rid of the owner. It's mental but that's what Ashley has done. It's true, the current NUFC is lightyears away from the one we grew up with, especially if you're a similar age to me and your earliest memories were the Keegan era. It's blatantly obvious to me that Ashley's primary aim is not the success of NUFC and that's a fucking crying shame. Even if we achieve minor success it's despite his intentions. What sort of football club is that? It doesn't feel right, at least when we aren't tasting success, who knows if it'll be different when we do (if ever). I would honestly rather support a club at the bottom of the footballing pyramid who was aiming to reach the top than one near the top who couldn't be arsed to even try to get to the top. But what are you supposed to do? This IS our club, we don't really have a choice. Hopefully everyone will completely re-connect with the club in the future but clearly there's a lot of fucking work to be done. Some are boycotting and some are continuing to go. Personally, I wish everyone who is continuing to go would stop going but that's just me, everyone will have a different opinion. I'm sure everyone would say, in an ideal world, they would get rid of Ashley if they could. To me that is possible but the fight doesn't seem to be there, there's too many saying, I want rid of him but then not actually doing anything about it and then complaining no-one else it doing anything. It's a shame that the best manager since Robson and Keegan has come in at a time when the club is at such a low point. I always see Rafa and, before that that players, praising the fans etc. and I dunno, maybe it's changed since I gave up my season ticket but I honestly think they're not even talking about the club at the moment but what the club used to be. There's too many day trippers and fair weather fans at games these days (as well as genuine fans, I'm not tarring everyone with the same brush) that make protests too difficult. Even Rafa said that in relation to the fans: "I know they can be even more positive in the future" People will interpret that how they want but to me that means that he know this isn't even the real NUFC, it's been too long since we were a proper club and too many good fans have walked away. Like I say, hopefully we will become the club we used to be where everyone was proud of the club and the city was buzzing with everyone single kid wearing a Newcastle no. 9 shirt rather than every other shirt like you see these days. I just wish we could do it without an owner who has disrespected so many fans and club legends and the club itself. That's a complete ramble without a specific point (after a few drinks) but I just think it's mental the situation we're in. Most other football forums will be talking about the next season, maybe even a cup final in this season and here we are discussing how much of a twat our owner is, what the hell have we done to deserve this ffs.
-
It's his primary aim every season

Agree with this, It is proven that chants against the 'perpetrators' doesn't do s***. Everyone can boycott Sports Direct all they want, but it is not going to stop all the chavs from everywhere else in the country getting their cheap Adidas Tracksuits bottoms and 5 pairs of socks for a tenner.. The club finally has a decent manager at the helm and, despite relegation which absolutely sucks arse, there is some hope that this guy will remain in the hotseat to bring the club back into premiership and potentially make the club as great as it once was. The foundations are there in terms of a great Stadium, great passionate fans and an eventful history. No matter how much people hate some of the powers within the club, it is time to get behind the club and get them to do the right thing in keeping this manager here as I am confident that this could be the start of something very special if he stays! Chants/protests do do shit and yet Ashley still decided to disband the singing section and have stewards forcibly remove banners and posters etc.

Bruce doing his best Jagger impression.

The man who will most likely put them out of a job?
-
They know the difference between £100 million TV money in the premiership and £3 million in the championship. And yet waited so long to bring in a replacement manager for McClaren.
