The first ten minutes that saw us 2-0 down. One of those goals was Krul's fault though remember?
-
Spurs are at home Parky!
-
One of my memories from yesterday was Taylor patting Simpson on the back and encouraging him. Just thought I'd mention that as it always gets pointed out when he's having a go at others, or not pointed out as such but trotted out in arguments.

Same as Williamson. But Williamson won't be on big wages and might actually improve unlike this tosser. Well Willamson's wages have obviously gone up and I don't think this regime would sign a player on wages they couldn't afford. After all the tightness we've witnessed over the last three years you really think Taylor will be on massive wages? I'm not sure why Taylor won't improve or why he's a tosser but that's just me.

Judging by the last page I wouldn't say that was true. Harper's kicking is better, Krul is now costing us points and Harper wouldn't have conceded three yesterday.
-
Even though Pardew has confirmed Krul will play?

I agree with this. If Krul's mistakes become more frequent, he needs to be dropped, because they are now beginning to cost us points. What points have they cost us? Because the second goal against Man City wasn't his fault nor was Nolan's miss or Carroll's miss or the third goal. It's typical of the collective bi-polar disorder of this forum that anytime and player does well he's the best around and as soon as he makes a mistake he's totally rubbish. There's never any middle ground. Nobody is saying he's 'totally rubbish'. You can't deny the mistake had an impact on the game though. Did it cost us points? It's hard to tell, 1-0 down after 5 minutes isn't as big of a mountain to climb. And it's not as easy as saying "Well it'd still have been 1-2 if he hadn't have made the mistake" - unfortunately that's not how football works. I agree, which is why I wouldn't go as far as saying his mistake cost us points.

You think Harper's kicking is good? I'm pretty sure he got slagged off for it time and time again in the past. I think Hart put about three balls directly out of play yesterday better get Given back in the team. Then Hart again once Given makes a mistake.

There's never any middle ground. If we hadn't conceded just after a minute, do you think the game would have panned out exactly the same way? I know that if Nolan had scored then we probably would've drew. It Carroll hadn't let his man go against Stoke we probably would have more points. If Coloccini and Williamson hadn't cocked up against Blackburn we probably would have more points. Same with Tiote against Blackburn. What would've happened if Harper played against Arsenal and Nasri's shot went in?

Not really that fussed about the experience Krul gets. It's about points for us and survival this season. Still not quite sure how this experience line is being used for Krul's mistake. If Krul doesn't already know that he should have smashed the ball out of the box by now, he's never going to learn. It was bad judgment it happens all the time in football. Have you never seen an experienced keeper play a ball to a centreback or fullback that sometimes puts them in trouble? I've seen Valdes at Barcelona do it a fair few times and it's going to happen if the manager's instructions are to play it short more and more. Or have you never seen an experienced centre back give a rubbish back pass to a keeper? Krul already knows he shouldn't give the ball to a player under pressure in that position but he made a mistake. The same way Coloccini made mistakes against Blackburn and Bolton, Campbell against Liverpool, Williamson and Perch against Wigan, Carroll against Stoke. There have been plenty of mistakes made by players throughout and the season that haven't resulted in players being dropped. Thankfully our managers seem to be able to look at the bigger picture.

I didn't say guesswork wasn't allowed. Do as much as you want.
-
Well it's complete guesswork to say what Harper would or wouldn't have done. In another parallel universe Krul might have kept a clean sheet.
-
And Krul won't 'do for this season'?

Can you explain what is meant by this please? Our capacity to tolerate abuse is a millionfold greater than our willingness to do something about it. When saying 'our capacity' I assume you're including yourself in this? If not, what have you done? I kicked Batista out of Cuba, but that limelight-grabbing Communist douchebag Che took most of the credit, along with his red butterboy Castro. Other than that, not much of note, apart from some beautifully eloquent complaining, and stellar analysis in hindsight. Not much of note, that's basically what I thought. I thought you were getting on your high horse for a moment.

What are your proposals then?

Isn't there a stat saying Tiote has lost the ball less than any player outside the top 4? The criticism he gets after losing the ball sometimes is mental. It's impossible to calculate but I bet he's prevented many more goals. I'm not saying he can't be criticised but people seem to think its a massive flaw in his game. I can't remember anyone saying that about Barton after Wigan.

On Getty Images there are a few pictures of Pardew that would be perfect for a Pardew-o-meter.
-
Good ratings Otter but I think Pardew has already confirmed Krul will start against Spurs. midds, I agree with some of your points but I don't think you can say Man City were doing what they were doing to conserve energy; defending like that really takes it out of you.

It was the Modric sub I think and he was hobbling off. If the sub hadn't gone ahead then Spurs would have effectively had nine men.
-
It does matter though because Gomes shouldn't have been booked if the sub was ready to take place. If everything was set up and the sub was waiting to come on then Gomes wasn't timewasting. The fact that he was booked for timewasting and then sub takes place doesn't make sense; he can't have been wasting time if he was just waiting for the player to come on. The time was always going to be added on but using that argument then you shouldn't book anybody for timewasting. Gomes shouldn't be waiting for a sub to come on if the ref hasn't signaled or it. He didn't seem to have done until after he carded Gomes or timewasting. At that point he let the sub on, which adds time on top of Gomes' timewasting. Not too big of a deal, here. You can't let the sub go ahead though as it just means that Gomes time wasting was justified.

Some of Nolan's link up play today, especially in the first half was decent I thought, most of the good moves involved him.
