Aye, Ashley arse licker it seems. Bit pathetic really, good to see the likes of Clarkie staying well clear.

What if we hadn't stuck with Keegan? Ashley would have bombed him out for not winning the league in the first season. A manager is a long term commitment, you can get a player on a month long loan - the comparison is laughable. I meant first time round. Op. Nut was saying there's nothing wrong with dispensing players after promotion and Keegan did this successfully therefore the same principle should apply to managers. I was saying that we could've used that logic when Keegan got us promoted but what good would it have done us? Would we have finished runners up and played in Europe if we'd dispensed with Keegan? Obviously it wasn't an option as we hit the ground running, but I don't agree with Nut's point. So did I! I was agreeing with you btw. Ah, it makes sense re-reading it now.

I'd guess 9 points from 24 at home went a good way to getting him the tin tac. What about 19 points from 16 games? 12th in the league. You've wanted him out for ages and had to suffer the embarrassment of us beating the mackems 5-1, winning at Arsenal and beating Chelsea. Sadly you got your wish thanks to the thickest, fattest man in Britain. I wasn't embarrassed by us beating the mackems 5-1. I quite enjoyed it although I sort of knew it was merely delaying the inevitable. Like I said - 9 points from 24 will have went as far as anything in Ashleys mind to replace him. We'll stay up on the bcak of home form. Folk just simply don't remenmber (or don't want to remember) the results we were pulling in our relegation season. Deja-vu for me and likely Ashley. The last 2 away games our next 2 or 3 home games. Ashley has done it at the right time (if it was to be done at all) The week we had two games at home which could have set us up nicely would have got Ashley thinking. Blackburn and Fulham on the back of Stoke and Blackpool. Two (four)f***ing pathetic performances - in fact very similar performances to the ones which took us down two years ago. Remember? Well I can't remember the wins away to Arsenal and Everton in the relegation season or thrashing any team at home, must be my memory I guess.

He hasn't been appointed yet man.

I don't know if you're joking or not quayside but I see a lot of people who seem to hate Simon Bird. He was called a cunt by Joe Kinnear after Bird wrote an article slagging off Kinnear, something most of use would've probably done in the same situation. Bird is generally pro-Newcastle - he travels to games with Caulkin all the time, just writes for a shitter paper.

Nope. It's recently been confirmed that Pardew isn't though.

Even if it is Jol now, which is looking less likely, I'll still just think what the fuck?!? He may be a better manager than Hughton (although I dunno) but is it really worth this upheaval? Hughton seemed to be building something special. Even if we bring in a better manager, unless its Hiddink standard ( ), I just think its a waste of time, a kick in the teeth for the fans and a total lack of respect for Hughton.
-
It seems that way. I wouldn't say he made an ultimatum but little by little became more and more powerful, especially with the players behind him. If its true that he refused Beardsley as his no.2 this would add weight to that argument. If true its a fucking kick in the teeth for all the knobs on here who joked for months about how soft he was.
-
I probably exagerrated saying all NE journalist, some seem to think so anyway. Luke Edwards says don't assume Jol as well.
-
Where you seeing that? Twitter, looking at the ones I know of and hearing what McNally was saying.
-
All NE journalists seem to think its going to be Pardew. What the fuck!!!! Ashley must be one of the thickest fucking men in Britain
-
Team selection will be interesting if Beardsley has any beefs with any players. It seems Hughton wasn't keen on him, maybe Nolan, Smith etc. would think along similar lines to Hughton? Will Campbell's comments have an effect on his participation? May all be rubbish but we've seen worse during Ashley's reign...
-
If we end with Pardew this whole situation will somehow become even more pathetic. All this hassle, turmoil, disruption to replace Hughton with...Pardew! He's fucking shit and a knob to add to that! This is Ashley's fool proof way to keep us in the PL? Fuck off Mike, Hughton was going to do all this and with more class and dignity than any of your fucking cronies and relics like Kinnear and Pardew.

Just about to post that Dave

He's been a dead man walking for weeks man. Decent result here and there has kept the wolf from the door. The last two away performances did for him. 2 out of 15 points. I'm not sure what that's got to do with anything I said but there you go...
-
The more I think about this the worse I feel. It's probably sinking in more and more now how much Hughton did for the club and how much admiration he built up in his short time in charge. Hughton was perfect in the situation we are (were) in, he is dignified, cool headed, smart and stable, Ashley has fucked up again and blown all of this apart. Everyone time were have one of these meltdowns more and more comes to light about the Ashley regime and it gets more and more worrying. I thought with Hughton in charge everything had settled down...apparently not...it looks like Hughton was shafted. Seems like there's so much other stuff to say but it's hard to put everything in words in a logical, reasoned argument - I'll leave the likes of Caulkin to do that. Regardless though, this sacking has been pathetic, shameful and just depressing.

So what does that say for the likes of Wenger, Moyes, Bruce and Ancelotti who couldn't outwit some tactically naive manager? Play that card is a bad idea, there are plenty more that suggest the opposite, and you know it. You didn't answer the question. What does it say about them? Especially Moyes and Wenger, if Hughton's technically inferior team beat technically superior teams then it points to a tactical victory doesn't it? All managers make mistakes, all the way to the top, it's no surprise Hughton has made mistakes. You think all the good results were flukes and yet all the bad results were indicative of Hughton's ability? Of course there are more results to use in an argument against him, we're a newly promoted team, we obviously going to lose more than we win, what were you expecting? To beat Blackpool..blah..blah..yeah...yeah... I'd still like to hear a tactical critique of Hughton from someone, you Ronaldo, or anyone else.

In the last 4 months, Carroll has given every indication that he belongs and will excel at this level. Aye, my point exactly. In the recent past he was deemed not good enough, or too inexperienced for this league and the one below us. Hughton's had 16 games, man. He's looked up to it in about 4. We can't afford to continue to piss away points. I'd personally have given him another month or so, by the way. Four games? What the hell are you on about? Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton, Sunderland, Villa, West Ham...in which of those wasn't he 'up to it'? I said 'about 4'. Got it spot-on against WH, Arsenal, Sunderland, Villa and Everton, certainly. Add in Foluwashola's two which were respectable performances and it's 'about 8' in 16 games. Not to mention the Chelsea cup win.

Tactics crap? He changed them to the approval of most people on here when he needed to. I for one think he was learning fast and realising where he was going wrong and where he was going right. I don't think he would ever of had us as a top class side, but given time and finance stabilise us as a top 9/10 side. And as for the fitness levels? I'm not even going to bother. That's because you're lazy and overmatched. Hughton got the tactics and/or selection horribly wrong against WBA, Bolton, Fuham, Blackburn, Wigan, Stoke and Blackpool. You can't argue that he ever demonstrated genuine tactical nous. Neither can you argue with the assertion that several of the players look severly lacking in physical endurance. Guthrie, Nolan and Shola to name three. What did he get wrong about his tactics? I see a lot of people saying this don't don't really back it up with anything of substance.

Pathetic, pathetic decision from the club. Who know what's going on within the club now.
