How do you feel about Pardew's comments about Arsenal and Europe, do you think they're disrespectful to the fans? Just asking as you've been quite patient with the manager so would be interested to know whether you think they're acceptable or significant. In other words not having a go. Tbh I haven't seen them properly other than on facebook etc.. I have been ignoring his comments for most of the season. But from what I did see he didn't care if we lost 4-0 and was just glad we aren't in Europe next season? If that's correct then they are pathetic and I'm not sure exactly what he is aiming for because we aren't going to win the league so 8th would probably be his perfect finish. Its the highest we can finish without that nasty Europe business. Obviously going out of the cups early means we aren't going to indirectly qualify either.

The first part of what you're saying has crossed my mind recently, our football is never that great or incisive but we've occasionally shown that we can have much the better of the game for decent periods. The bit afterwards just seems very farfetched to me compared to the alternative, our players voluntarily giving up on any attacking gameplan. This is compounded by the manager's subs, his general post match comments about needing to hang on and the well known "no more goals" instructions, which would be funny if it wasn't so indicative of our approach since the guy came in.

Only other game we've won by two is Southampton home. Well there you go, and it's a similar concept as when we accept a draw like at West Ham last week. We visibly stop making meaningful attacks, it's as if part of this consists of Pardew taking the flair players off to dissuade the team from going forward. Which invites pressure, blah blah blah. It's so depressingly flawed, so fuck going on about it being unrealistic to expect to dominate the game for 90 minutes when we barely even try to do so for half of them.
-
It's not really, it just gets a bit daft when everybody and nobody has the situation in their own hands. In more simple situations it's a good way of saying that it might not matter what a team does, it could still be impossible to achieve their goal even if they win every game.
-
Regarding this idea that it's pie in the sky to want to dominate games for a whole 90 minutes, how can you explain this deeply evident tactic of sitting back once a goal ahead? We choose not to dominate games, we say that's our lot so let's hang on, despite it blowing up in our faces on numerous occasions this season and some wins being far more close than they should have been. I recall a 3-0 win over a 10 man Wigan, have we won any others in the league by 2 or more goals? Might have won a lot more full-stop if we saw fit to put the game to bed now and again.
-
If they're going to put in half arsed performances maybe we're better off shot of them and at least have some players that want to play for the shirt and aren't just paying lip service to it. It's a fair point, I just think it's a bit of a shame as most of them are far better than they're showing.
-
If Pardew stays then you'd imagine our better players will be queuing up to leave given their performances in recent weeks. I know people quite often say that, but we really don't strike you as a team or club on the up at the moment.

Still think he'll be away.

Definite WUM, there's no doubt about it now. Night night.

Good God man, he's questioned the source so I've given him other sources. You're on the biggest wind-up of all time this evening. I'm not winding anyone up, we've been through this FFS. We've been through it. The guy questioned the source and I provided additional sources and up you pop. I don't care if you think we've been through it or whatever, you're on the wind-up. I'm honestly not. Obviously nobody would deny the quotes are real. What are you even on about? Start making sense. Unbelievable, I've already explained over about five pages. What has it got to do with my reply? Why did you even get involved? I was providing sources for someone disputing the source, I didn't want to hear you make that bullshit point for the 100th time.

Hope you're enjoying Istanbul mate, amazing city. Maaaaaaaaaan I did not read that as him taking the piss. Hope that wasn't the case Ian after our midfield dynamism for the Blue team... I wasn't taking the piss at all, I love Istanbul. You cut off an entire post slagging off Pardew and your argument to say you loved Istanbul, that's how I read it tbh but what would I know.

QPR 1 - 2 Newcastle United - 12/05/13 - Post match reaction from page 68
Interpolic replied to BlueStar's topic in Football
What did you think of the game, Ian? -
Laudrup completely rubbishing the idea that you need a 200-man squad to play in Europe.
-
Some really, really weird goals today.
-
This is what I said at the time of the Brighton game, not that my hunch about it makes much difference like.
-
We literally put out our best team against them, lets not re write history. wat We played our strongest team against Brighton. No we didn't. Who didn't we play? Marveaux was kept on the bench specifically so he could come on with 20 minutes left to provide some "magic", by which point we were a goal and a player down. We also picked up one or two mystery injuries in the run-up to the match.
-
Is it not? No, it's not. His job is to do interviews after the game. It's part of his job, Ian. His words aren't throw-away. They're official words. OFFICIAL! I admire your stance on Pardew, and haven't been one to criticise. Each to their own. But to suggest these comments are throw-away in an OFFICIAL interview is clearly trolling. Well every interview he gives is OFFICIAL (nice caps BTW), but that doesn't mean he can't make throwaway comments in them does it? Oh my god...you've become a sarcastic dick! I'm out... He's been doing it a while, nobody ever notices.

If you're talking about me you might have missed the point. I was saying that I don't believe he means it literally. Having only read it and not heard/seen it of course. Mannnnn. You didn't ask it in the post I responded to: What now? "It's not a major offence". Again, I assume nothing a manager says in the media can be classed as such then. What? It's right there. Kind of a pointless debate with no interest to anyone, better not go on. Stop replying then.
