Racking my brain about what this could be like. Honestly can't think of anything. Start putting bro's before ho's?

The 2011-2012 Betting Thread: Last call for 2011/12 football, pretty much
Interpolic replied to Stu's topic in Football
I took them up on a similar offer weeks ago and haven't had owt from them this week, so yeah it seems pretty staggered / random. -
Just like the men's game then - you can generally always tell when they're just about to miss.

no one would be defending the current lot had they just brought in lee bowyer after securing a champs league play off spot. having all that extra revenue and not nearly so much debt meant we were perfectly placed to build, you knew that fine well though. We spent £10m on Robert, £6m on Bellamy and £5m on Jenas in the January, and that was off the back of finishing 11th. We did that to get to the next level, which we achieved with a 4th place finish. I was as p*ssed off as anyone with that summer when we spent nowt, but it was done after a few years of investing a lot and getting back very little in transfer fees. what was our debt level then ? And who's it owed to? Are you suggesting that this is the year that we finally start chipping away at Mike's loan? I'm not expecting us to go fucking loopy with transfer fees, merely for moderate investment. Otherwise we should have kept Carroll, simple as. But aye, we'll see. Plenty of time yet.

I don't recall many Premier League clubs ever crowing on about using incoming transfer fees to pay wages. That's what TV revenue and gate receipts and commercial income is supposed to be for, and if they can't afford the wages from that then they're not doing as good a financial job as they make out. I'm convinced we'll spend a bit before the season starts and this is just a tactic to stop us getting conned by other clubs, or else the average season ticket holder will be fucking fuming imo.
-
I agree to an extent but it's still not a 'free transfer' as some seem to think. I'd still look at a £2m transfer like it was fuck-all though, it's pennies. I'd love to know what they spent on the training ground as well - it reminds me of when they were humming and harring about getting a scoreboard for half a million or whatever it was. It's small-time as fuck, just do it or don't do it but stop going on about it.
-
£2 million quid IS fuck-all imo, that's the whole point. We'll probably get that back with Routledge's fee.
-
The noises coming out of the club are of massive concern imo and you can only hope it's a load of rubbish to ensure that we don't pay over the odds for players. The idea that the vast majority of of our transfer business is already done isn't just hard to swallow but totally unacceptable as far as I'm concerned.
-
Getting pretty agitated now tbh. They're absolute cheeky cunts if we just do 1 in / 1 out until the season starts - our squad is shit. I looked at our forwards towards the end of last season and couldn't remember a set that we'd had that was anywhere near as bad. But we've brought in a free transfer with a questionable injury record for that position, so happy days - we're sorted. There really doesn't seem to be much desire to progress on the field here and the quotes of the past week just back this up for me. Hopefully it's just a smokescreen because if we go into the season having spent coppers when we clearly need significant investment up front then it takes the piss.

Haha I just started doing the same yesterday, they're smashing ('I always imagine coming up against Peter Crouch at a corner would be like someone throwing a bicycle at you'). I think they did some for the 2006 WC as well I'm going to try and track down. Skinner's twice weekly non-football podcasts are well worth a listen if anyone's a fan and doesn't already btw. Skinner has just said that line in the episode i'm listening to. Only reason I searched for them was cos Baddiel tweeted that they'd won an award for them. Thanks for this mate, I've started listening to them today at work and they're class.

SSN: Modric leaves Spurs... after having just had a meeting with Daniel Levy.

Please go to bed instead of sitting here trying to be funny. Thanks. http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/9751/image1xxlk.jpg

If that happens then I will be prepared to eat some chocolate. Not much of a bet I hear you say, it is when you consider that I don't like chocolate. Actually very funny, good stuff. Treat yourself to a holiday in 2012.

Watching us without Gutierrez on the pitch in the last 2 years has been painful from an attacking point of view. Until we know for sure that Marveaux / Ben Arfa can cut it and stay fit then we can't get rid of him. If we sign N'Zogbia then I'd probably be able to accept it since he's a proven Premier League player with a good fitness record.
-
Would be gutted if we lost Jonas this summer. If he ends up sitting on the bench now and again then so what? When was the last time a good player decided to leave us for want of more first team football? This club seems determined to get to a point every season where Peter Ramage plays left back or Ryan Taylor plays central midfield.

Hindi Hen Do on BBC1, Lead Balloon on BBC2, Family Guy, Newsnight, all sorts! He'll probably just flip over to attheraces and rub one out. Four Rooms, Luther, Geordie Shore, Angry Boys. There's too much telly if anything. What a cunt.
-
Tuesday's actually a really good day for telly as well, the clueless cunt.
-
Best of luck, Chrissa. If they don't get rid of too many then I think he's got a good chance of bringing them back up.
-
There was one edition of PES when he was practically the best player in the whole game imo. The Inter side was something else.
-
He's a bit of an unknown quantity amongst a lot of fans imo. My dad, for example, is a season ticket holder and thinks he's a canny player from what he's seen but knows very little about him and is probably holding his opinion on him until he's played more than a handful of games for us. There has been a tendency to forget about him during his injury but that's to be expected with any player who comes to a new club and breaks his leg after a few games. It's a good question anyway - I listened to the True Faith podcast for the first time today and thought it was excellent on the whole but a few of their views would have been laughed out of this forum. For example they were fairly sympathetic towards Alan Smith and one of them even quite liked Peter Lovenkrands. Although I'll reiterate that I thought the 2 lads that did it were very affable and knowledgable and it's a good listen.
