It was shocking at how late it was, the ball was in the net when it went up.
-
I'm glad, their is less of a chance of getting injured, now if only Jonas can have a falling out with Maradonna before the World Cup.
-
Is anyone else glad that 1860 shirt doesn't have a Puma logo?
-
Ok, my question still stands, is anyone pissed off that Portsmouth arn't allowed into Europe?, because if they were allowed in then Liverpool would have no Europien football.
-
It does go to the runners up, hench why Portsmouth were kicking up a fuss, because either way they would of gained entery into Europe.
-
Thats what I think, but when SSN did the end of season review and great goals earlier it wasn't even shown.
-
No because Pompey are gonna get absolutely raped in the final so wouldn't have qualified for Europe anyway. They would for being runners up. The runners-up qualifying for Europe dealy was scrapped a couple of years ago. No it wasn't, it was for the League Cup though.

It's well know that the TV revenue is worth around £60m, hench why the CCC play off final is the richest game in football.

Ok, lets say getting in the Premiership is worth 60m of TV money, the club last season had a debt of what?, £37.7 m. So assuming our operating costs don't go up, and bearing in mind some players have left, Butt, pancrate, Hall, and others at a lower level which will free up money for the wages of new players, this gives the club a total of £22.2m, though I'm not counting whatever we got as parachute payments, but we can assume £60m because of the new overseas deals aswell. Now lets also add on the fact that we now have money from the Puma, and Northern Rock deals which we haven't had since before Owen signed, thats added revenue. Now lets also remember that the price of sponsorship around the ground will go up because of us going up a level. Now also consider not all of our advertising space was taken around the ground this season, which as a Premier League club next season would could easily be full. This all mounts up, so I'm pretty sure that the club will have an increase of revenue beyond £22.2m, and if we are to assume that Ashley won't dip into his pockets for cash for players and he won't go and ask for loans either then we can assume that their is quite a decent level of money free, though I admit not all of that will be spent on players.

I don't gree with the reaction to the clubs statement either, but here we go. Smith R. Taylor Xisco Best Barton Ameobi O'hara Boyd Another midfielder Another striker/foward Someone in defense
-
we gonna buy players on a credit card then? the one thing i will say is we wont be using outside money that the club hasn't earned.
-
I think we really have to sit on the fence on this one, I honestly don't think "no capital outlay for players" means we won't invest in new players, I do go along with the views that it means we won't but a budget on it, and we won't get into debt for it it, but we will invest. We really have to see what the summer brings, and is it's a World Cup year it usually means that transfers get put aside for a while so this could be a long summer for us, lets just sit back and enjoy the world cup.

Thats the way I read it too Many are panicking way too soon. All will be well.... i didn't read it that way at first but it could be on re-reading it. Thanks Madras i have said previously aswell that i didn't necessarily see it as 'no spending' but no new debt. Yeah but your agreement that it could mean what I said will hopefully help others that it doesn't mean that the club won't spend on new players which is the general feeling.

does 'fully comitted ' mean already used or already spoken for ? I suspect it means that we have a plan to pay it back.

And because every good plan begins with '1. Widely publish the plan on a globally-accessible medium'. Classic Sun Tzu. Name me one benefit of stating that we will not spend anything on players this summer. If they can find another 30,000 people who are convinced this easily then Ashley has a cash cow for life. THEY CLUB HAS NOT SAID IT WON'T SPEND MONEY ON PLAYERS!

Blef I just think that people on here taking words out of context and meaning, similar to adding 2+2 and getting 5.

Then why not say nothing, instead of saying something that can only be taken negatively? Because they were showing they had faith in Chris, they will not get involved in on the pitch matters, and they promised a little while back to keep intouch with the fans as much as they possibly can. This is them saying they are not saying how much Chris will have, they are interested in keeping the club in a good finacial position, they want to get the best out of the young players in the future and they will not confirm or deny any press rumours in the summer. To me that sounds like a bloody good plan.

they only got players in, as we we're starting to struggle and had injuries And you think they will let us struggle in this league?, for crying out loud they and Hughton know we need some players, but as they have said it won't be a squad overhaul. Mike Ashley wants Newcastle in the Premiership as much as we do, after all why would he of invested in players in January if he didn't, injuries or no injuries he saw that our chances of going up would of been more limited without any additions. I don't believe he is stupid enough not to invest in new players. they did in january 2009 And we got relegated and they learnt a lesson. He even says establishing ourselves as a Premier league club in the statement, showing he has plans of staying in this league.

I've just seen that Colback got sent off for Sunderland, I'm rather disapointed to be honest, I went to school with him, played with him and against him and like to see him do well, though I am pleased Sunderland had another player sent off and lost.
