The sun is saying Arsenal want Krul as well as Cabaye
-
Depends how much the fans demand transfers. Ashley probably see's arsenal with lots of money & a time limit/pressure to use it, they've recognised Cabaye as one place to spend & he'll be relying on that pressure increasing as the days go. thing is though is they really don't need him, Wilshire, Ramsey, Cazorla, and Rosicky for the more creative positions, Arteta and soon enough Flamini for the more defensive position in their side. So why in gods name would they spend in or around £20m for him when there is other positions they do actually need players for. Ask them, they put the initial bid in didnt they. They are willing to spend money on Cabaye, maybe not 20m but thats what Ashley is looking to test. He just wants a bidding war. And I really don't know why they put in a bid in the first place, what they need ultimately is a striker and a defender so they go for another creative midfielder

well I got one score exactly right
-
the question a normal club would ask in this situation is how much effort will he really put in if he doesn't go? All our club considers is price however
-
different expectations, not winning a trophy at Arsenal for 8 years and sitting on what your "boss" (i use the term loosely when referring to anyone above wenger) is a massive amount of cash to spend and still not spending anything is fairly bad.

rest of the games not really up to much

players they don't do that anymore, costs them a fair wad of cash

In the modern game a striker who can only finish chances is simply not very good
-
Stick him with the reserves all season and let him miss the world cup. Disgusting behaviour for any professional to take.

then theres the other side of the equation where the DOF is all powerful and the manager has 0 say meaning he's getting players me might not want or need and might not rate in the slightest Then you sack the manager and get a new one. It's certainly easier than buying ten new players each year like some of these clubs do. disagree, the manager should always have the final say yes or no to someone since he's the guy actually working with them and expected to stitch them together into a cohesive unit, not some guy in a suit sitting in the directors box Nah, you pick a manager that has a style that suits the players. Then you listen to him on individual players if there's a problem but the general style has to be followed from the first team down to the youth teams. It's foolish to change managers and have to change philosophies. while its foolish for the guy who's gonna take the flak for results not to have a say in what he's working with. You appoint a manager and you trust him to make the correct choices you don't 2nd guess him and say we in the boardroom know more about football than you our manager.

Someone needs to call the c*** out about this in the post-match press conference. "So Alan, with Baines and Fellaini playing for Everton after they rejected bids and said they didn't want to sell them and actually seemed like they meant it, is Cabaye not playing just further proof that you're protecting him from injury to ensure you can sell him after hawking him round so blatantly all summer?" you make it sound like he has a say in the matter rather than just being a victim of meddling from above He possibly doesn't. But I'd still grill him. If he doesn't have a choice then he can quite easily say that. "No, it's Mike Ashley's decision. I'd love to keep Cabaye and have played him today.". Simple. Needs to grow some balls and start telling the truth or else be called out on his bullshit that he peddles. and then he gets sacked. Would you do that in the same situation when trying to protect your job which you enjoy? He can lie if he wants. That's up to him. My problem is that the post-match questions are always so fucking limp and toothless. Managers who continue to underperform should be grilled properly and when there's an elephant in the corner of the room like the Cabaye situation it's ridiculous that its ignored. the local journo's know the story, its a decision from above everyone knows it and I fail to see what dragging a guy who has nothing to do with the decision in the slightest achieves beyond crude satisfaction at making things more difficult for a guy already dealing with a shitload of problems

Pretty young that compared to the rest of the team. They are becoming the new Bolton. transfer activity didn't help in that regard Was just thinking the same. Was it only Kasami and Taraabt under 30 this season(think Bent turns it soon but could be way off)? one is excusable in the goalkeeper is 30 but 3 year deal for Scott Parker at age 32.............

HUSSAH! BENT SCORES FF POINTS! oh and 1-3
-
It is incredibly small time as you say. It is becoming clear we have been desperate to sell him all summer which seems linked to our lack of spending. that almost makes it sound like we'd spend if we sold him anyway which is just plain silly

staring forlornly at a signed picture of Arsene Wenger and a store bought Arsenal shirt I assume
-
either "his head isn't in the right place" or Ashley's protecting the large wad of cash take your pick
