  1. the only mention of ashley i've seen was a brief thank you to him for his commitment to the sale process
  2. to distract from tonights celebrations France have come from 2-0 down at half time to make it 2-2 with 20 minutes left vs Belgium
  3. not as if we didn't have a more than capable replacement on hand, Harper wasn't as good as Given but he was still a damn good goalkeeper
  4. true and tbf to Hughes two of the signings he made pre buyout in Kompany and Zabaleta were incredible signings
  5. that is what City's owners did with Mark Hughes.
  6. tbf if they went into detail on it it'd be a movie length documentary
  7. lock and archive this please so long Ashley and unless you want to buy Sunderland stay out of football
  8. god the montage of the ashley era is just full of shit moments
  9. Xisco now theres a name I haven't seen in a while
  10. sky really lucked into the timing of this being on tv but suppose its karma after the Ronaldo return was on a 3pm game
  11. take off the fucking tea towels you mongs!
  12. someones got to bring everyone down to earth a bit
  13. could be part of any sale agreement with Ashley that it stays up for the rest of the season for all we know
  14. end of a very strange era in seeing Ashley going, hell the reason I found this forum in the first place was the original sale saga post keegan and dear god its been a long time since then. I'm just glad he's gone and i'll worry about the moral conundrums about the owners later. Though I do wonder at the mental gymnastics of the premier league that somehow the Public Investment Fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman on its board is somehow not connected to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  15. someone with a tea towel on their head because of coarse there is ffs
  16. handled the moral question about as well as it's possible to do so fair play to Emil there
  17. not really comparable I suppose but its the only example I can think of where a sport plays a regular league game in another country. I know Italy and Spain (I think) have played cup finals in Qatar etc but not regular league games
  18. unless it's Friday 3pm then it doesn't count
  19. to americans, how was the response to nfl games being played in london when that first happened?
  20. it'd be odd for Amnesty International to be cheering on this considering the human rights record of KSA and the House of Saud and like it or not its now going to be connected to NUFC so every time they do something evil the club will get dragged into it
  21. i find it an interesting topic to talk about. Certainly the influence of rich owners on football is worrying but its almost a response to the setup that the old elite imposed. Just taking into account the extra revenue in sponsorship deals and tv money from the Champions League alone and in a FFP way how does any outsider consistently manage to break into that club eg look at Germany, Bayern are stupidly dominant there and any time anybody threatens their position at the top they just buy their best player or nab their manager all the time. That isn't healthy for football either
