you could put down his poor form in the relegation season to combination of utter chaos that was us then and him trying to adapt to a new league and style of play in said league, some players find transitions like that easy others take time and tbh I think the detour through the championship was better for him in the long run, allow him to adapt to English football while building his confidence back up and now showing how classy a defender he is
Benwell Lad is right though whatever other criticisms were thrown at him he never hid once even while his confidence must have been at an all time low
surely they need to realise theres no way back for him, not after the way he's acted, not sure any club in the world would put up with such antics and its kind of worrying it doesn't speak well of his character
in theory but in reality this is no different to what every other club is up to on transfers, everyone knows the buying club makes its interest known to the players agent and roughly what they're offering (see Carroll back in jan who probably had Liverpool onto him with what they were offering)
Can't recall an actual case of "tapping up" that stuck
things ain't getting better for them

the Sun has a rather more sensationalist take on that, saying Modric is on strike

you know watching Nolan in this game it really hit me, I don't miss him in the slightest, with Jose and Carroll when I see them play for Liverpool I miss them but nothing for Nolan
