  1. Soldado picked up a knock after Nigeria, he wasn't dropped per se. Granted that I'm not too sure he would've featured.
  2. That curled ball that César saved, Torres just can't dream of that.
  3. Aye, you can see that the quality is still all there, but since that horrific injury his fitness has taken a nasty dive. Still ahead of Torres for me, though.
  4. Again, if he was lenient towards Brazil, why didn't he give them another two red cards last night? He missed a lot the ref, there's nothing about being lenient, because he also gave a penalty which he could've easily not have given had he been lenient as it was more a a 60/40 challenge rather than 100% But yes I do find it weird that Dani, Oscar and I think it was Paulinho managed to end the game without a yellow card. No idea who he is. Anyway, I wouldn't expect foreign journalists to know we dropped the "Furia" moniker when this generation came about and we developed our current style, which isn't "furious" at all. "The Red Fury" was an absolutely stupid moniker for a team that always bottled it, anyway.
  5. Not anymore, but some people still do out of habit. Who's that tosser?
  6. I will say this, if Xavi gets 40 starts next season, we're winning owt. When fresh, he still can boss games (Milan at home comes to mind), but all the domestic and international ties (Euros last year, ConfeCup this one, WC next year...) are noticeably taking its toll.
  7. Xavi just can't play so many games every 3 days anymore. He hasn't even done it for Barça this season, where he's usually been rested for the midweek CL ties, so he was nowhere to be seen yesterday. People seem to forget that Brazil had a goal-line clearance and a missed penalty yesterday. For all our suckiness, the result could also have been tighter. I just wish VdB experimented with personnel a bit more. Martínez should have played far more given the season he's had. Heck, his understudy at Bayern tormented us yesterday.

Fucking hell, I tried it with Barça too Spent almost until 4 am figuring out Q... Quaresma!
  9. This is starting to look like the school festivals where they make up awards so every kid in class can get one.
  10. Ridiculous career and trophy case. (He was one of the best strikers in the world for a couple years, though).
  11. Who's getting the Golden Shoe, by the way? What's the tie breaker? Assists?
  12. Well, congratulations to Brazil and flip for the win. You've been the better team today, I hope we get a chance for revenge next year
  13. Iniesta hugging Neymar Bring on the club season already.
  14. Great save by César, but Villa shows with a couple touches why having Torres ahead of him is such a baffling decision.
  15. You make me sick sometimes. International football is pretty much win-win for me. I never get that worked up if Spain loses, but I'm happy if they win. I'm very much club over country. Not so much linings, it's like the clouds are made entirely of silver. I'm pretty aware that some day all of this will end (and we'll finish second), but for now I'll take every happiness that comes my way.
  16. Been coming all tournament IMO, Spain have looked fragile defensively without Alonso alongside Busquets screening the back 4. Brazil just happened to be the first team who took their chances. I have little doubt that Alonso will be straight back into the first XI once he recovers from his injury, Del Bosque just used his absence to experiment.

  18. Anyway man, Neymar looks like what we needed, somebody else that looks threatening upfront so Messi can't be shut down. And he's much more of a team player that what I was led to believe. Weirdly tonight has made me strangely happy.
  19. Given that Iniesta scored the winning goal in 2010, he's objectively wrong. He was also named best player in the 2012 Euros, and he was mint in 2008.
  20. He asked for it. Would only rate Xavi as a better taker from the people in the pitch though. None of Cesc, Villa or Alonso playing.
