The similarities with Gerard López give me nightmares indeed: playmaker that left our B team for Valencia, made it big there, was rebought for an insane fee and went on to become an abject injury-ridden failure. Regarding Wenger, if he loses Nasri and Cesc is back to square zero after 6 years of "getting ready". So I can see why he clings for dear life to both.
-
To be honest, Xavi didn't start becoming Xavi until he was 25-26, so I think Cesc still has ways to go.

Our press is reporting that Agüero doesn't fancy it, though, but will probably agree as his only way out.

Man, glad I skipped this one. What a disappointing tournament, Paraguay drawing their way into the final...

Nah, I'd never wear such a tacky suit.

The brochure says a "welcoming show", runs up €1600. http://bit.ly/pmlJxt

They had a press release last week on the works for re-laying the pitch, although this might be remotely news-worthy. Real Madrid's new training pitch was all over the telly a couple weeks ago too. But yeah, every time they do whatever petty work, from buying a new bus to changing the hot dog stands, it's on the local press.

* Tarmacked ffs. It's a f***ing s*** joke, but you've still missed an open goal there. "Cemented" has just confused me, probably because my head is spinning with the excitement of the tarmac. Do other clubs announce s*** like this btw? Have Man Utd or Wigan for that matter ever done a story about upgrading to double-quilted bog-roll? I suppose we don't look at their websites so we'll never know, but it's not the first bit of press / patter that just feels small-time / pointless. FWIW we get stuff like this from Barça all the time.

I'm particularly curious about #2 myself.

And that you have to account for the maintenance of the tarmac for the next 99 years.

On that subject me and a friend were commenting the other day how hilarious it would be if after all the saga he ended up failing the medical.

The problem with Cáceres is that he is overly aggressive and gets lots of cards, sometimes conceding unnecessary FKs in dangerous positions. Plus he is prone to lose his position on the pitch chasing every ball. He has been alright at Sevilla since their defending style is traditionally very aggressive and he has given them the bite they had been losing lately. But we have sold him at a discounted price.

Always thought Ribery is one of the most overrated players of the past years. Remember when Madrid went close to pay €50m for him! One of the few moments of sanity Florentino has had lately was pulling the plug on that.

Gino Pozzo has confirmed that a deal has been reached with Barça for Alexis Sánchez

Good luck with that...

So you'll have two OAPs in goal? Or are you signing somebody?

Is he going to take a cut to his monster wages to go to Spurs? Don't forget we are talking about one of the 10 highest paid footballers in the world.
-
He was just being facetious. He was asked who was closer to sign for Madrid; Neymar or Agüero, and he said that as a way to dodge the question.
-
No, media have built the entire rumor from what just was a throwaway comment from Mourinho. This will be a president signing anyway, so it'll be Neymar or Kun, probably the Brazilian. Surely Atletico won't let Aguero go to Real? Man City looks his most likely destination... That's their stance, but if Agüero doesn't agree to go there they will be forced to sell to Real.

Wayne Routledge signs 3 year deal with Swansea

Maybe they are planning a Truman show scenario for him where they make him believe they were never promoted and he's still playing in the C'ship, and instead of - say - Manchester City, he is playing against Coventry.
