One of my best friends, an Espanyol fan, died in a crash two weeks ago. He loved Pochettino to bits, he would've been so happy to see him win the premier league

We Catalans already turned the basketball CL into a closed shop. Watch and see us destroy football too

La Liga 19/20 - Premier Sports acquire exclusive UK TV rights

There's a good chance it will yeah, the new ground lies far from traditional Atlético neighborhoods, while the Calderón sits in a prime location right on their turf. Espanyol has had the same trouble. Their new stadium is nice, but very far from their home area. Once the "new stadium" effect vanished, they have found themselves with reduced crowds and lots and lots of plastic seats on view. -

From the sale of the Calderón to the council+loans. The new ground belonged to the council and it's part of the deal. Don't forget that the Calderón sits above one of Madrid's most important thoroughfares, which the council wants to enlarge. -

Yeah, I found another site that credits him with 4 total, whoscored gave him 0. He's still been largely disappointing given the hype. That's for the transfer thread though. -
0 goals, 0 assists in 24 games so far this season for their B team.

Atlético's president confirmed they are moving to their new stadium in summer 2017, despite trouble finalizing the sale of the Calderón (a Spanish court found the rezoning of the ground to be illegal). State of the works: This is how it is supposed to look: http://www.losblanquillos.com/media/galeria/34/8/7/9/8/n_real_zaragoza_fondos-5828978.jpeg Doesn't have nearly half the character of the Calderón. -
Rumors going wild in the Madrid camp this week (it always happens when they implode) so take this with a huge grain of salt, but Marca running that Isco and James will be placed in the transfer list at the end of the season.

He didn't have a bad run over here. Starred for Recreativo in their two seasons in the top flight, got himself signed by Atlético and was a regular off-the-bench for them. Quique Flores didn't seem to think much of him so he got sold, and it was downhill after that. His pace and power made him a reasonably effective player in this league, although he was a pretty limited player.

Mmmm... wish I could find a similar stat for La Liga, but google isn't giving me anything. Doesn't an all Spanish XI start every week for Athletic Bilbao? Yeah, just realized. But to be completely honest Laporte is French. They are really stretching the "basque rule" with him.

So Lucho ends up subbing in Iniesta, Alves and Rakitic. It's funny how he started his career tinkering so much, but nowadays he doesn't see anything outside his starting XI.

Missing so many chances today...

You realise that no one on this forum will ever have sympathy for you, ever, about anything? :'(

Messi And here I am, trapped working on a Sunday

Because it's his profession? It's obviously much more important to his life than yours.

Just found out that the League Cup Final isn't on any Spanish telly. Sucks.
-
So, Arsenal might be saying goodbye to the league and the CL in the space of a couple weeks, in March. Typical.

I imagine it's als really hard to root for a team as gutless as Arsenal too. Got no beef with Arsenal, I quite like them. Without looking it up, is it because you always beat them? True story, I visited England in the early 2000s, back when Arsenal were at the top of their pomp. I secured a ticket for the London derby, and remember watching the game, and giggling like a madman watching the shit Henry, Pires, Bergkamp, etc... pulled off on the pitch. How I wished, at the time, that we were as good as they were...

I find myself strangely rooting for ManU here, because of Leicester

Beautiful. Offside though.

Ancelotti would have had the same issues, tbf. He already did in his second season. Benítez was a bad appointment but ultimately it's the interference from upstairs what f***s everything up.
-
He's arguably the best athlete in the history of the game tbf Not this season. Which is understandable, he's 31. Honestly if you listen to the Spanish original it's pretty obvious he isn't talking about fitness.
