£250m wasted last summer says it is.
-
Oh aye the scouting dept is currently a mess. Maybe bin nephew Howe and keep Uncle Howe.
-
Well obviously if we had better players you'd expect we'd be doing better but if we're wanting to fish in the same pond as Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea unfortunately we aren't going to get players from the top of our list. That's why when we weren't so lazy at scouting we could pull out gems like Bruno and Isak who would never have been on those clubs radars. That's what we need to get back to doing.

I'll never, ever understand any NUFC with that attitude mind. Not caring that much whether they beat us or we beat them is just bizarre to me. Could understand it a bit more of fans who aren't from the area but even then it seems strange. Our fanbase has definitely changed in mentality over the past decade or so it has to be said. They hate us and are desperate to beat us more than any other team and that works the other way for me. Always has, always will.

The fee for Isak was incredible business and we should have snapped their hands off as soon as it became evident that they were prepared to pay £125m and he wanted to leave. Absolutely silly money for a 26 year old with a bad record of injuries regardless of his talent. In saying that I do understand why we didn't want to lose him and I also think it was us lot trying to prove a point that we're one of the big boys now and we won't be pushed around, but selling well, and at the right times, is as important as the buying side in these days of PSR/FFP. Hopefully we've learned from that particularly bad experience and that we are a bit more streetwise if a similar scenario was to crop up in future. If the Isak deal is done quicker no way do we panic and pay £55m for that plank Wissa.

What will happen and what needs to happen will unfortunately be two different things. As I said earlier basically every area of the team needs looked at, from GK to CF and everything in between. We need better wide players if this 433 is staying for good. We need 2 FBs with the loss of Trippier, Krafth and Targett likely to be away. Burn and Schar are in the twilight stages of their careers and with Botmans fitness being unreliable we need another CB. Also need a proper CDM who would hopefully allow us to take control of games better. So basically a full overhaul. In reality we might bring in 4, possibly 5 players and I expect some big names to leave as well in Gordon, Tonali and one of Hall or Tino.

Aye that was a strange one. Trying to pull back a 2 goal deficit and he starts Bigirimana and only brings HBA on for the last half hour.
-
I never said that you did tbf.
-
Aye I was always under the impression that Parish didn't particularly want to deal with us, Palace being one of the clubs opposed to our owners. Also Guehi didn't really push things so a deal was never really on the cards.

The loss of one player should never account for such a massive drop off from one season to the next, especially when all of the money from the sale, and more, was given to the manager to be reinvested. If the loss of one player can cause what we've watched this season then the entire project (on the field) was built on sand. Facts are we are playing in a totally different way now, and it's to our detriment. We don't attack as a team, we don't defend as a team (pressing from the front), our midfield can't control a game, our wing play is poor, and our goalkeepers are shambolic, Pope's decline started well before this season and should have been addressed, and Ramsdale was never the answer. If they are backing Howe, and the signs are that they are, they need to give him all of next season unless we find ourselves in the relegation zone. No point in us being 14th in October or going into Xmas time and then they decide to pull the plug. However if we are 14th or thereabouts after 38 games he should be replaced. We simply can't afford another season like this one, performances or results wise.

Was 5 rows from the front in the Gallowgate for the Man City match right behind the goal in November. Couldn't get away with watching the match through the net and also the goal posts obstructing my view so I went and stood with my mates in the corner for the 2nd half.
-
Mackems shouldn't be allowed to get away with it as their ground was designed to have away fans in the South Stand and that's where they stayed for best part of 20 years until they wanted to copy how we do it. They should have been told to fuck off.

What is?

Definitely the sort of thing he'd say as well. Proper real life Partridge I'm in the minority but I didn't mind him. Nowhere near one of my most disliked NUFC managers. Plus I met him once in the Black Bull in Benton one Friday afternoon as he had popped in after training. He ended up sitting at the table with me and my mate and he was sound. Always speaks highly of us and fights our corner in the media as well, unlike cunts like Bruce and Souness.

2nd half was a disgrace really and the 1st half was probably the best we ever played under Ossie Not sure if that was his last home game in charge (would have been that one or Bournemouth in the Cup) but it was right at the very end of his era. Ground was absolutely dead as well. Definitely our smallest Saturday crowd of that season.
-
Regardless of your thoughts on Howe you've got to be happy with that today surely? Stopping the rot was absolutely vital. Ending the season on a run of straight defeats would have been disastrous and there's been many an occasion where a team has ended the season in terrible form and it's continued on into the following one which is one thing we can't afford to happen.
-
Was all about the win today (although I would have taken a draw pre match). Was never going to be a classic but we got the job done, when in the past we'd have ended up bottling it and drawing or even losing, so credit to all concerned for seeing it through.

He's been such a big miss. Hopefully that's him fit and back to his best for the remaining games. -
