keep the goal line technology and this new offside automated system but VAR needs to go, its just not good for the game in the UK

This, I presume the automated offside make a pretty quick decision. It's painful watching the VAR officials take forever with their subjective placement of lines on extremely tight offside calls.

There’s an awful lot of presumption that all the new attendees would be plastics, rather than the next generations of kids who are currently locked out of watching at St James'. There are lots of people of my generation who were effectively locked out of the stadium bar the odd cup or European game under Keegan. I’d really rather that the same situation didn’t occur again as young fans are the lifeblood of the club and often of developing atmosphere

Agree 100%. Plus all the people who quit during Ashley’s reign are now locked out as members. Although a know a few who’ve moved on from football altogether now.

I also think generally more people want to watch football now. West Ham get approx 60k every week, I think we should be able to do 65-70k if tickets were priced right for the region.

One of the most deserving calls up in years  am still eating humble pie about being wrong about this lad

Me too. Think there's much more to come from him too.

  4. Plus adding to Gallowgate is only going to give us more L7 seats. The East Stand being so small limits us as higher value seats can be sold there plus way more corporate seating areas.

  5. Without falling into the latter, we do have to acknowledge Bruno in particular was sold the dream of us conquering England and Europe. Whether it’s FFP or whatever, I think it’s fair to say our trajectory isn’t going to be as fast as we hoped. Fans are quick to turn on players when things don’t go well yet believe players should be so attached to the club. The reality is they have short careers that they need to make the most of and at the moment, you couldn’t blame our better players for wanting to go to Arsenal over staying with us. But if it does happen, we’ll make a profit and hopefully recycle it well like Liverpool and Spurs have done in the past.

  6. That would be my preferred option over extending SJP.

As somebody mentioned, the prospect of just more level 7 seats isn’t very appealing. A new ground where we could actively make singing areas without the legacy issues of ST holders. Plus more corporate money to help us overcome FFP restrictions.

I feel like our plans to be an elite club are in danger of being watered down.

The more time goes on the more I think just build a new stadium (in city centre) and ramp up income as much as possible while making it affordable for average fans.

I agree, as sad as it would be to see St. James’ knocked down, it’s not going to help us get amongst the elite. Far too many restrictions to do something genuinely world class that will allow them to maximise corporate spend.

    This is not true.

Wenger won his first league title in his first full season. As did Mourinho, Conte and Ancelotti.

Mourinho, Conte and Ancelotti were all Chelsea who had obvious financial advantage over the rest of the league.

We have to build a sustainable model. This is not going to be done by shitting our pants over a bad patch and starting new time and again.

  9. The past has shown us time and again that success comes from continuity, not chopping and changing managers all the time.

There needs to be some context here. Injuries, champions league before we’re ready etc. has been a strain on the squad.

That said, there are concerns IMO. We’ve been rolled over far too many times, not just by top teams either. Eddie has to answer for those but his job should be guaranteed for next season at least.

The difference between the 2 is that Dubravka makes a few saves that wouldn't expect him to make, and then Karius let's in a few that you'd expect him to save. Dubravka's biggest problem is we're now disappointed he's not making the great saves that Pope would make.

Dubravka’s biggest problem has always been that he’s prone to massive errors. In the Euro’s one year he flapped a shot against the bar and then punched it in his own goal!

By that logic we can't criticize the performance of any footballer, athlete, politician, actor, musician etc etc. Then why do we have this forum, if not to voice opinions, positive or negative?

I think there’s been a misunderstanding of my first post, and you missed the sarcasm of my second one. Let’s move on.

The two things are completely separate IMO. You can call out a bad decision/performance when you see it without being disrespectful. Otherwise, should we all sit here sharing pleasantries after seeing us concede 4 at home to Luton?

I have to say I’m a bit baffled by those who have memberships for the full season giving up on applying because they’ve only been successful 1-2 games so far. It just doesn’t make sense to me at all. You paid for the ability to put your name in a hat 22 times at phase 1 and a chance to get a ticket in phase 2 re-sale. Do it. Come the end of the season judge wether your £37 or whatever it was was worth it. You might miss out on the first 11 games but just as easily be successful in the last 11 🤷‍♂️

I can understand people giving up just to avoid the disappointment and feeling of futility.

Of course logically you should enter and you have some chance, but if it’s causing you too many negative emotions then it’s a decision for you.

I’m just trying to accept that I probably won’t go but I enter just in case. I certainly don’t have any enthusiasm or hope left though.

As I’ve said many times, it could take several seasons for your luck to even out. Anyone who plays odds knows that a 20% chance to win can result in many, many losers in a row.

Just for my perspective, it's a mixture of disappointment/negative emotions like mentioned above, with holding off other plans in case I get a ticket (which was much easier for me last year), plus this increasing feeling of being on the periphery of it all (as a former ST holder) which just makes me think fuck it.

That said, I'm regretting a bit not putting in recently so will be entering for Bournemouth.

Honestly the kits from 1995-2003 were just sensational. The peak. Some good ones before that too but that spell was banger after banger.

Asics shirts were class designs, better than the NTL era IMO.

  15. It was a strange night the semi-final last year. I don't know if fans just expected to go through or what but it was really flat. It happens now and again, same for Dortmund this year.

Appreciate that it was a comparable fixture but you are comparing Boro at their best vs us at our worst. Not making any excuses for us BTW, it was shit.

And let’s see what he achieves with us in the meantime eh?

But we need a new 70,000 stadium according to some ???

Extend St James Park to 60-62k if possible and put it to bed.

I can remember some of the home - Euro nights under Bobby Robson not selling out either.

Come off it, these are tickets put up for sale randomly by season ticket holders the day of the game. It’s not indicative of demand. I’m 2/10 in the ballot this year which is a more realistic assessment of how many people want tickets.

Yeah, I was there too. Been in most parts of the ground since the takeover and that was only beaten by the strawberry corner in terms of my experience and enjoyment. They really need to make a lot more safe standing in the ground.
