  1. Really glad to see the focus on Wor Flags and Graham in particular. I used to be on the same row as him in the Strawberry Corner and he is an absolute legend. For all the attention seekers on social media etc, it's great to see the folks who do things for all the right reasons get the spotlight.

A great episode, Eddie's speech before the Man Utd game was a real highlight! But I still think there could have been more structure to the series as a whole. It just seems to wander off in all directions.

If they do long sleeve shirts it’s a win, regardless, for me.

I thought these were a thing of the past for all clubs but just had a look and Adidas sell Man Utd shirts in long sleeves. Just hope we don't get designs as bad as that Man Utd away kit!

  3. I also liked the old system where you applied for every away game you were willing to attend. If you missed out, you still got a point, allowing you to build up enough to start actually having a chance at tickets.

The complaints you would get would be from someone who lets say, went to every game from 2010-2016, amassed ~150 points.

They’ve been going since, but at a much reduced rate (and not selling on or anything). They go from having ~170 points to having <20 points.

They’ll feel pissed off, and claim that the club don’t care about ‘legacy’ supporters.

Others will say it’s fine, and those that go here and now should be at the top of priority list.

Fair enough, but if you’ve been to 20 aways in 7 years surely you wouldn’t begrudge those who’ve been away more on that time priority over tickets?

Yeah, some clubs have ‘rolling’ 3/5 year totals, where a year just keeps dropping off. Think the mackems might actually do it?

There’s pros and cons to that as well like.

But we all know there isn’t really ‘correct’ solution, almost a case of trying to pick the best worst one.

Honest question, what would be the cons to this system, say over a rolling 7 year period?

I wonder how hard it has been to remove the Castore deal, as didn't Ashley sign them up to run the clup shop? So it's no longer ran by the club?

I heard that there was a break clause in the contract after three years. This came indirectly through an employee of Castore.

I’ve quite liked the designs of Castore but the quality of the training kits is awful with the crappy iron on badges etc. Customer service, the state of the club shop etc. also makes this a good move. Another step in the right direction!

Reminded me of this at Old Trafford when Calvert-Lewin elbowed De Gea in the face as a cross came in. Everton scored. VAR awarded the goal.

Obviously doesn't fit the corruption narrative that very silly people go on about, but it just shows the incompetence of the refs.

At the same time you’re using one example to argue the case that you don’t on balance get favourable treatment from referees. It’s been going on for years, particularly at Old Trafford. Same for Liverpool in recent seasons.

  8. A new stadium is most likely IMO. The Saudis aren’t here to mess around. Giving us a stadium as good as any in the league would a long way to cementing us amongst the elite. They’ll be playing it cautious because they know fans are attached the SJP and they’ll need the council on board with any plans.

    Why?

New membership rules: £44 cheapest seats, can't choose where you sit, if enter have to be willing to pay for top level seats if allocated, fans feeling detached etc etc.

  10. Away fans used to be in that corner of L7, so I think it must be 3k Leazes L7 and 3k in corner of L7. If we extend the Gallowgate in the same way we’d also get more seats in the equivalent of Leazes L4 corner (2k ish) which is why most people think mirroring the Leazes in the Gallowgate will bring us to approx 60k capacity

I've got multiple Castore tops from both England Cricket and Newcastle obvs, and generally from my experience the quality is great, and design is always subjective but I like most of their stuff. Only issue I have with them is the price.

Newcastle training stuff is terrible quality. Iron on badges and sponsors that peel off. Can’t wait til we get rid.

  12. 1500-3000 seats is surely not the level of ambition here. Might as well just put railings up in the strawberry corner on ‘safety grounds’ that people stand anyway.

If they want to do something bigger Leazes corner might be the best shout with presumably less season ticket holders and season ticket holders who don’t really care where they sit.

People want to be in the Gallowgate to be in the best atmosphere. If the Leazes corner was a standing area and designated signing area I’m sure people would leave the Gallowgate to get involved. I left a prime seat in Gallowgate middle tier behind the goal to move to Strawberry corner for this reason.

I think it’s partly that Rafa was pretty much this lone light of hope that inexplicably came to our shit club and beyond what anyone really expected, stayed with us in the championship. All our hope was on his shoulders.

Eddie is class but it’s not like that, the hope is not all about him in the same way.

Agree, plus Rafa was too good for us at the time. Attracted by the potential we all saw in the club and happily went toe to toe with Ashley. Which is why we all loved him.

Howe has come here to grow with us. He'll get better as we do. He's had an unbelievable start, we're well ahead of where we can expect to be with the squad we have. Looking at our midfield and forwards, there's only Bruno who has played a good chunk of our games who wasn't here when Bruce was. More signings and the settling in of Isak and Gordon will improve us again.

Whilst I loved Rafa, I don't think he could have done what Howe has achieved so far and I certainly wouldn't swap!

Individually he's great as a 6 or an 8 but it's clearly a problem for the team that our most creative midfielder and only one with any real quality on the ball is our deepest.

He can influence things much more in the final third playing as an 8. I think some are forgetting how good he was there last season and that was with Shelvey anchoring. Imagine if we had a Casemiro/Rodri/Partey type in there suddenly our midfield looks so much more balanced.

We should leave him where he is and focus on getting players with similar ability around him. It’s only an issue because none of our other midfielders and forwards are near his standard. Better times are coming!

  15. I’m very drunk, and fresh from an argument about being ‘from the fright side of the river’ but I think people are being very disrespectful

to Bruno. Bruno does things in midfield, beyond the capability to Casemiro. He’ll achieve great things without having to worry about who has gone before him.

We’ve bought a player with great things ahead and not behind him. Worth baring that in mind.
