Look set to steer clear Where's that from? The Chronicle

Benjamin Mendy is supposed to be a promising player. Other than that they appear to have signed a load of lower division forrins marra. Modibo might be decent, but i'm not very jealous like. So far, at least.

Exciting thread this.

Chris Lepkowski @chrislepkowski 9m Expecting #wba to announce signing of Anelka in next 24 hours - maybe even before close today - subject to medical being ok.

Tor-Kristian Karlsen @karlsentk 47s Good move by Sunderland securing the services of Charis Mavrias from Panathinaikos. Only 19, attacking mf/winger with plenty of potential Beew.

Joseph Barton @Joey7Barton 1m Surprised at how fit I'm am. Still a machine.

Read the article, man

This. The fact that he is going for a quite affordable fee suggests we were just hoping a bargain would emerge rather than actively trying to sign up a player we have wasted 18 months scouting and watching regularly. Yep. The Journal:

Sunderland have apparently bid €2m for Charalampos Mavrias. A 19 year old Greek playing for Panathinaikos, with two games for the senior national team. They sure seem busy.

He's been talked about as the next big thing from Bulgaria for quite a while. Been linked to some big clubs as well. Sorry for keeping up. I remember our own Haris Vuckic being the next big thing from Slovenia since Zlatko Zahovic. We saw how that panned out. What's your point? Every talent doesn't realize their potential, for different reasons. Haris have been badly plagued by injuries. I'd still get excited if we brought in highly rated young ones. Well, maybe not as much in these times, but still.

Georgi Milanov. Well jel. Exciting times for you. Big fan of the Bulgarian league are you? So boring. Was thinking in general. Villa getting deals done. Deals consisting of highly rated talents.

Unfortunately just reminds of Pardew trying to shore up one goal leads. Good lad, but won't miss him.

Of course we had a chance. Might have helped if we actually tried though. We really didn't. He knew that Dortmund were watching him at the back end of last year, and many others I'd imagine too. On top of that, he was pretty clear that he was after European football at this stage in his career. I imagine that we were a back-up in his head if nobody else that matched his criteria came forward by the back end of August. It wouldn't be the first time a player had been talking about Champions League and European football, and then going somewhere without exactly that. Money on the table could do a lot. We pay very good money compared to French teams. I'm sure he'd choose Borussia over us if it was a straight choice, but it wouldn't necessarily have to come to that.

How the f*** do you know who Pardew's targets are? Seriously A journo picks a random player, puts it in his paper, if they are good, it's Carr, if they are old and s***, it's Pardew! That's what I meant. The papers keep linking us with certain players and say "oh Carr wants Aubameyang but Pardew wants Bent, Tomkins etc" I'm laughing at how lazy the journos are who keep linking us with either WestHam players or his former players. It's either lazy journalism, or Pardew. Of course it is. We'll just have to wait and see. (/Might never find out, like.)

That line When practically our whole team have been poor - of course it is. It's easy because is makes perfect sense. Mainly blaming each and every player on the other hand, is just daft.
-
No, it's just far easier and more optimistic to blame tactics. Nah. It's just more correct, really. Like it's Pardew's fault his corners are dreadful and he won't make the runs required to support the attack? Pardew sure isn't at fault for his poor corners. He should tell someone else to take them, though. In any case, that's not something that makes him a bad fit for Premier League. When it comes to his play, we can't be sure what Pardew tells him to do. I'm sure he'd make runs to support the attack if that was what he'd been told to. Cabaye has got that part of the game in him. He has shown that in France.
