Very debatable. Anita is the only player we've signed who can actually start a game in the league imo.

Not sure its weaker overall, just up front with backups. Big chance for vuckic, sammy, Campbell potentially Exactly. The negativity is waaaayyyy over the top, it's ALMOST funny! Almost as over the top as the people who say we haven't had a poor window. Their resolute stubbornness is ALMOST funny.

"decent season" Great ambition.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

You're saying it's difficult to sign a player who will greatly improve us, who wants to come here and is available at an attainable price Sign him and a young backup striker for a few million and not 1 person would say we've had a bad/average window. If you're referring to Debuchy then its obviously a failure. But more due to negotiation than us being unwilling to meet his cost, i think we've just pushed our luck to far myself. Outside of that as far as im aware, Pards has come out & said our other targets are happy at their clubs. Seeing as many of our targets tend to be in strong sides already, yeah its not easy at this point to upgrade the team. In comparison to sides like Reading, West Ham or Championship clubs whos spending keeps being compared to ours. As for young striker, Rhodes went for 8m. Maybe the value for money isnt there at the moment when compared to what we already have? Our scouting team probably knows better than we do huh. Rhodes is an awful example. We'd never spend that much on an untested player. A £2-3 million striker from abroad would and should have been a perfectly reasonable signing given our much vaunted scouting team. Added to £8million-ish for Debuchy and we'd have vastly improved the team/squad for under £15million, which is a very realistic figure for us to be spending at this stage. I know, I know, balance sheets etc. -
'You have to pay a lot of respect to Mike, we've had a couple of phone calls during the window and we could have cashed in on a couple of our players but he didn't and I thank him for that and our fans should thank him too.' I'm finished caring what he thinks about anything now. Utterly spineless. Keegan would vomit reading that and so should we. Keegan would have vomited and then resigned. Which would have helped a great deal. He won the court case, proving he was right to do what he did.

"“I would say that bad news is losing a player, especially one of our top players and I do believe we are pretty strong in terms of that not happening. “We are in a situation wherein we can hold off any offers that come our way. “But if we get players in then great. I do need a couple of players, maybe three." http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2012/08/05/alan-pardew-still-hoping-for-his-top-targets-79310-31551846/#.UB4xOsVUEgo.twitter Why is everyone worrying?

Nobody has said that. It's strange how the biggest positive being thrown around about this window is that we've not sold anyone, even though we've had no bids. Funny how some people's mind works. Whether or not we've had bids, not selling anyone is a positive. It means we still have our best players. But it's not an "achievement" if we literally had no other option. It shouldn't factor into any appraisal of this window because of that.

Same person who told me that about Anita 2 and a half weeks before he signed says we'll try again for Carroll -
I'm leaving it at that. If we sign someone decent in the next few days then fantastic. If not, then it's a missed opportunity and a reminder that Ashley isn't as great as last season made him out to be. If you can't be bothered to read all that, here it is in .gif form... http://i49.tinypic.com/nmgfua.gif

How spineless. Another window he's completely lied to us then. Or he's been lied to again by Ashley/Llambias. If he had any sense he'd have maintained a Hughton-like silence during the window. He's been burned before and yet again by the looks of it. But then people wouldn't be happy if he said nowt. Rather that than be lied to. I'll ask again, when has Pardew lied? "If you can't do your business in the summer, then I don't know why because there is plenty of time." “We’re not really trying to get players in” That not really lying, thats change of circumstances. If you give the benefit of doubt like. Both quotes were published today a few hours apart. What changed?

By loaning a player out? We'd buy him next season, not now. -

How many teams did spend more than us last season, and finished bellow us? Its not about the price or total cost man, quality, not quantity. Still agree we need a RB Championship teams shouldn't be spending more than top 4 contenders. No they should not, but that is their problem right? They are in Championship, we are top 4 contenders according to some, and for a reason. I'd say it's more our problem, especially as we took £3million from them. Still they fail to even be in the PL. While we have players like HBA, Cisse, Cabaye, Tiote etc in our squad. I am not necessarily disagreeing with you, but looking on just what they have spend is no indication on quality imo. Best, Rhodes, Murphy, Nuno Gomes and Etuhu are all good signings for them and could easily take them backup.
